It is inexcusable that this disaster was forecasted in advance, but the federal government wasn’t ready to respond. Before FEMA, Donald Trump, as a citizen privately funded and delivered food, blankets, batteries and a full tanker of gasoline.

The American Red Cross should bring back public service messages again asking for help and donations after Hurrican Helene, a Category 4 storm, caused a lot of damages and took several lives.
People on Florida, Louisiana and even Southern Texas better wake up from their pipe dreams of no state taxes and paradise and realize that their properties are becoming worthless or worth alot less with every passing storm. Your insurance premiums will continue to rise, your HOA fees will continue to rise to fix the damage done to the outside areas and pay higher insurance premiums for the HOA and flood insurance will continue to rise. Only thing that might decrease is your property taxes a little bit when people have to enmasse sell their homes at 50% or more off.
I have absolutely zero sympathy for anyone in this area posting videos online crying about how scared they are or needing to be rescued. Every year we watch this happen. The first responders should not have to risk their lives because you were too ignorant to leave. If you get the warning to leave and you don't leave, you are on your own and that's exactly how it should be
Y are there si many to rescue. They been warned for days about this storm. Stop wasting tax money to save ppl that did not want to leave the area. Let them deal with it alone
Crying that "this is terrible" rings odd to me. I mean, you know what a hurricane is, you've likely been thru several and you've been warned beforehand. Don't misunderstand, I'm empathetic just confused by surprise.
Not all hurricanes are like this. MOST aren't like this on a local scale. I've been through over a dozen and I would be devastated if my local area got hit that hard, it's NOT the normal outcome. It's just a case of being unlucky enough to be the exact place the storm decided to bash the hardest. It's like living in tornado alley... Yeah, you might see lots of tornado activity nearby during your life, but it always hits somewhere else..., right up until it doesn't. As a born and raised Floridian, getting through so many hurricanes with minimal/manageable damage means that if you get unlucky and the worst of the devastation actually occurs to YOU, and YOUR town, it is extremely shocking.
