Alright, boys! Go long! The stage is set and Professor Henry Hidgens (Jeff Blim) has been waiting in the wings. When the Starlight Theater agrees to produce Henry's new musical as part of their local writers' workshop, they get a show stopping number that's more than they bargained for. Now the people of Hatchetfield are up to their ass in shit, and five-o-clock can't come soon enough!
Based on the musical-within-the-musical from 'The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals,' 'Workin' Boys' is a 28 minute short film made as a Kickstarter perk for the 2019 StarKid 10niversary crowdfunding campaign. While only accessible to 10niversary KS backers for a time, 'Workin' Boys' was unlocked as a public RUclips video when the 'Cinderella's Castle' Kickstarter campaign reached a funding stretch goal of $425K. Now everyone can enjoy 'Workin' Boys' whenever they like. So it's time to open the curtain and KILL the reviews!

Ruth Fleming is so fucking stoked for her acting debut! This is the best thing that's ever happened to me, I mean HER. Ruth ran the lights for her schools shitty production of The Barbecue Monologues and was also the Assistant Stage Manager for The Wizard of Oz... it sucked. She got bullied and excluded by the whole cast even though her job was just as important as theirs. More important actually! Being in the cast is way better. You don't have to think of an excuse to barge into the dressing rooms you can just walk right in! Everybody takes off their shirts and let's their titties tumble free! It's the most awesome thing ive ever seen... I mean SHE'S ever seen. Anyways, Ruth doesn't wanna thank anybody because nobody did anything for her.

And alongside Hidgen’s obsession with the past days of football, made it possible that he killed them Peter Pan style so that they never had to move on to the business world.

But we never saw Chad! I’m imagining he would have been played by either James Tolbert, Nick Lang, or Will Branner, although interesting cases could be made for either Jae Hughes or Jamie Lynn Beatty to play both the undead male and on-stage female Chads.

I love the touch of "Man in a Hurry" sitting the closest to the exit.
Honestly? It would be a pretty great play premise: It all seems like a normal comedy during the first act. Except for maybe some peculiar 4th wall breaks and nervous actors. Then act 2 opens and someone is dead, the director is insane, and the other actors are in a panic. Then it turns out, the true show only begins after the 2nd act and this was a murderous drama all along.
Can you imagine? Maybe the actors seem to be breaking character in the first act. Maybe there’s some weird sounds off stage. Then you get into the second act, there’s a gun shot, screaming, the curtain opens. There’s a body and a gun on the ground. Actors are hiding throughout the set. The director is having a nervous breakdown.
The people in the orchestra pit all start running out while playing their instruments…
Imagine how carefully they’d have to market it. Show too much horror, they’d give the secret away, show to little, they’d have the police showing up to the theater
it would be SO amazing!!

I love reading the play bills lol. Turns out Zoey upstaged her brother, is roommates with the Hailey character and has an OF lol. Hailey blew up the bathroom everyday causing the girls to have to use the bathroom next door which was at a Bank of America. Ruth well….is Ruth and Cassandra seems like she saw one of the lords in black and no longer fears the visions she has and goes in this whole tangent about pain being the price etc, which is quite concerning-

Not only are the references to the whole trilogy amazing, it's the little theatre easter eggs as well. The character who keeps having to push their hair out their face, the 4 secretaries who are named for the order they speak, the people visible in the wings during the performance... brilliant

Jeff Blim I swear has never looked more good looking than he does as Henry Hidgens. And he was already incredibly goodlooking. I swear the white really looks amazing on him. You can't blame Ruth.
Plus the intensity and the voice? It's a compelling scene.
