  • Pour and cure concrete in winter using Pex tubing, glycol and a Wacker Neuson Ground Heater. This concrete pour took place in January in Wisconsin, with temperatures near zero degrees Fahrenheit. The heated glycol solution allows the concrete to cure for 7 days and gain strength. Everyone benefits including the contractor/end-users, dealers and merchants- obtaining excellent results in harsh winter conditions.

what is the air temperature in cold weather

Hi, air temperatures during the 10-day curing cycle were down as low as 6 degrees Fahrenheit (-21 degrees Celsius). The concrete maintained a curing temperature of about 60 degrees Fahrenheit or 15 degrees Celsius, to effectively cure without cracking or other issues. Thanks for watching and sharing your question.

Seems alot cheaper to just use anti-freeze and do it the regular way though.

The glycol solution used on this jobsite is the equivalent of anti-freeze, but we're not sure what you mean by the "regular way?" Do you mean to tent the area and use pump in heated air for the curing period?

VintageVideos2009 no just use the anti freeze with concrete blankets

2% of accelerator per 10 yards will blow up your concrete in 1 hour

How much does this act to the cost?

There are a lot of variables to take into account, such as ambient temperature, humidity and related weather conditions for the duration of the curing period. Also the cost for fuel, pex tubing, and the rental fee for a Ground Heater unit for the duration of the curing time and minor costs for someone to visit the site, every 24 hours to fill/monitor the fuel reserves in the Ground Heater unit. A local contractor supply dealer or rental center would be able to provide these figures based on your location. Thanks for the great question.

You mean with Pex tubing to heat the core in sub-zero weather? Yes, it is done like this in extreme conditions.

I think you're thinking that everybody pours Concrete in California. There are many places in the United States that are extremely cold throughout the winter and you can't stop construction for 6 months
