Excellent 1993 Hardcore/Jungle Techno track from Alex Reese & Jack Smooth (Ron Wells) released on Basement and the flipside to V-10 Overload already uploaded on this channel. Not the easiest of tracks to drop in to a mix with due to the missing beat at the start of the track.

Listening to this track reminds of being my bedroom, as an teenager , drawing space monsters all day, until my dad banned from drawing monsters age 16, now I draw monsters for an living.

@@mickeybeam before 95 it was nationwide then with jungle everything seemed to go London and Bristol and Birmingham got left behind to some extent
I love ratty but in 94 I don't know what he played. Sometimes he'd play intelligent style jungle,sometimes full on techno, sometimes jungle techno. 91 to 93 he was on fire

Some dj's just got caught up in the split with hard-core and jungle and he was one of them along with easygroove, top buzz, ratpack and pilgrim they all faded shortly afterwards but Ratty in 2 years was one of the best as you know from the events he played at
People who know rated Ratty! His 'Taste of Things To Come' E.P. on Formation is a personal favourite!
One of the greatest rave tracks of all time. No one else was doing what Ron Wells was at that time!
Love the way this is like a cross between hardcore and techno. Had to get the repress
And Basement Records was at the forefront of it. It’s basically all that was played at the Swing raves in Reading.
Also check out Top Buzz at Universe Tribal Gathering. He plays this and Unfriendly by Wax Doctor, which is another fine example. Dark, moody, speedy and uplifting all at the same time. Genius stuff very ahead of its time.

We called it jungle techno.. Im 42 now grew up in southampton & manchester now live in Ireland & when i tell people i reminisce to jungle techno i get some funny looks 🎧🎶🎧👌😌✌️

If any one wants to get a really good hardcore compilation. Try the milwaukees album. Purchased it recently and it's got some classic tunes on there. Never went there but if it played that stuff sounds like it would have been decent.

it's correct, the label is actually wrong 'no 303' because it was not a 303 doing the acid, it was a yamaha tg-500
