Also really good idea to angle the reflection filter slightly downwards so that it cuts some of the ceiling reflections

For anybody really serious about building a booth, I’ve started building mine and it’s 1/2 way done and already light years ahead of where I was, here’s how I did it:
    Materials:
(x6) Pink institution foam board [4x8]
(x2) Mineral Wool (any brand as long as its mineral wool with a decent R value [rockwool being most popular] )
    (x14) 2”x4”x8’ framing wood studs
(x6) MDF or Partial board Slabs 4’x8’
    (x2) 18”x 24” plexiglass or Glass panel
    (X1) green glue
    (x1) MLV (Mass loaded Vinyl)
Step 1: Start by clearing a 4’x4’ corner
Step 2: frame out the floor with 2x4x8
    In 4x4 format (A Square)
Step 3: divide the floor in 3 with 2 slats. Place a piece of MDF of size under and secure it to your frame (you should have 3 columns) fill those with your rockwool/mineral wool.
Step 4: cover your first sandwich piece with a layer of foam board. Then MDF, a layer of MDV, Then wood again then carpet
Step 5: repeat steps 1-4 for all walls including ceiling (this time without finishing with carpet, Acoustic Panels/ acoustic foam.)
Step 6: Add Windows (Plexiglass) to door and wall nearest to CPU
    In conclusion:
The Key to soundproofing is to sandwich and provide space for sound to break up. The more layers of diffusion and absorption you have for sound better. The goal is to be able to get a solid recording with no background noises and being in a space where you’re isolated from everything to be as loud as you want to be, creative as you want to be. I really really hope this helps someone the same way I was looking for help when I first started it feels good to go back to videos like these and help all the new people just diving in ! 💛

Now I'm worried again. I've recorded a whole album. The first time I hadn't turned the level stereo up high enough. So there was a lot of hiss. Then I re-recorded. Can you take a listen possibly to some of my vocal recording (to tell me if it's acceptable)? I really don't want to have to record a third time. Do you have an email address?

I have a question about the egg crates recommendation.
I've always heard that they are useless as sound absorbers due to their material and density, instead, they could work as diffusers. Is that what Young Guru really meant by placing them behind the singer's position?
