I have 2 under 2 (youngest is 8 weeks). It has been so awesome to hear you talk about the “letting sleep go” thing because naps are also a huge trigger for me. Just hearing that that’s normal, is so refreshing. With my first I experienced so much rage surrounding naps, and now I’ve been able to go with the flow.

    • @cariiinen

Going with the flow is so hard, but also so necessary in parenthood. :)

So good to hear your experience... naps were such a trigger with my first and now I'm 35 weeks with baby number 2 and its such a daunting thought

    • @catherinelindelof6630
      @catherinelindelof6630 Год назад +2

@@elishathompson3400 it’s so so hard mentally. I just remind myself that I can’t control things. I want to, but I can’t. And that’s ok. I can just do the best I can to be the calm in the storm for my kids.
Bedtime is another huge trigger for me, but it has gone surprisingly well. I just remind myself that I can’t reasonably attend to both kids at once so it’s ok if one (or both) are crying. (We don’t do screens either)

The biggest shock of going 0-1 babies was the lack of sleep/interrupted sleep. I won’t like the lack of sleep that happens with taking care of newborns when we have #2 but I’ll be more prepared for it

I really loved how grounded and sincere you spoke about this, without sugar-coating it. You really made me feel at ease and less scared. I so agree with the post partum care plan, I only have one child but I planned this because I’ve always suffered on and off with anxiety and depression. I expected to suffer with post partum mental health issues. I remained on anti anxiety meds that were baby safe and I started therapy in advance of delivery. I sailed through it and in fact my anxiety is so much less worse since having a child! Mine is 2.5yrs old now, slowly starting to think about a second ❤

My toddler got to watch some birth videos and she definitely knew what was coming when the baby arrived. I knew she would do great though because she loved talking and playing with babies for as long as she's been able to react to them

I am trying for #2 in just a month, and I'm so nervous I keep coming up with reasons to delay trying lol. "Oh but I don't want to have morning sickness when we have to get the garden going in the spring." "We need to take that trip to see my parents before I'm too sick to move." We're going to just go for it and let the chips fall. Every time my toddler has a sleep regression, I'm wondering can I even do 2?? Thanks for that last point, that we can do this. It's such a simple statement that carries so much strength.

I have a 11 month old and a 2.5 year old and I definitely agree with everything you said! I didn’t know how I would do bedtime or nap routine by myself (husband works nights) but I figured it out and now I feel like a pro. TV for my toddler when I have to put my baby down is a game changer!

My daughter is 14 months And I just turned 35 weeks today. Just got my little girl down not long ago (my first stressor is how drastically different her sleep schedule has altered with a new baby right around the corner😭) and it's currently 2:08 AM. So of course this will be my night video :-)

This came in clutch girl! We have a one yr old and I'm 4 months preggers with second and feeling very overwhelmed where before it didn't hit me. I was like" yeah let's have two!" Not thinking how am I Honda keep one quite while the other sleeping or giving the oldest enough attention tion and not feeling neglected and bath time when it's just me due to hubby's off schedule he has so it's a one man show around here lol oh and also two dogs one who is about to turn two and has alot of energy while trying to attend to him😅 you've mentioned the book idea would love to buy that kids book but how when uour 1 yr old doesn't know how to read just go through the illustrations and read it to her? And didn't think to have tv off until I put the new born down will definitely use that trick😊 again thanks for this video and will be watching many more

My two are currently 23 months and 9 months. It has been a STRUGGLE. I still feel so much guilt trying to divide my attention between them both. The love for both is there, I just need 4 arms 😅
My toddler also doesn’t like tv so bedtime is really hard if there is only one parent home sometimes!

My first is 4 weeks today and even though i had a healthy, all natural pregnancy, I've been having hard time with the postpartum depression. Breastfeeding has been more difficult than expected, since my mature milk came in she hasn't wanted to latch. So after a few nights of breakdowns I exclusively pumped every couple hours. Im so tired. I hold her all day and night long because I have anxiety if i put her down she wont be breathing when i pick her back up. I love her so much but I miss the freedom i had a year ago. And i feel like all the support from pregnancy is gone now that shes born, my whole family decided to "give me space to bond" well i feel like im drowning. Being a sahm alone all day is hard, even with a great partner because he works 8 to 12 hours a day. He is excited that my six weeks is almost done, but the closer I get the more I am having anxiety about getting pregnant again. And he doesn't want to use protection. I want to get healthy and strong again first, and feel good for our wedding in a few months. I feel guilt for not "enjoying" every moment with my baby but I'm so depressed. Its hard enough since i promised him we could get a kitten next week. I am so not ready to take on another pregnancy, and the constant fears of miscarrying again like the first time. 😢

Girl use some kind of birth control (condoms, FPM, implant, nuva ring, ect) and hold off on sex for longer than six weeks. Let yourself heal until YOU feel ready and excited for sex. And post somewhere your friends will see this “i know people ask how to help me out. If anyone can come fold the laundry so i can nap with baby or watch the baby so i can shower that would be helpful” and wait and see who volunteers.

Honestly this is a controversial opinion but I think toddlers are easier for me than babies! My baby napped absolutely awful, teethed like crazy, had colic for a while. I was dealing with a lot of postpartum mental health stuff. She's literally the chillest and sweetest toddler, up for any adventure. Still crazy because she's still a toddler but it's so nice when they can use their words instead of just wailing!

I’m 3 months away from moving up to 4 kids. 😬 Send help! Haha! But seriously the 1-2 transition was the worst for me, cause #2 wouldn’t sleep anywhere but on me for 6 months, it was so so hard. I also basically wore him constantly for the first few months. 0-1 wasn’t bad at all really, but I’m an introvert so that makes it easier. 😂 2-3 was actually great cause my hubby was home for 3 months with COVID lockdown, hello silver lining! (That kid also slept like a freaking angel!) we’ll see what this last one brings!! We can do this ladies! 💪
