I think this issue will always be contentious and remain controversial. I think I subscribe to the story of how Yoruba migrated from middle east area in the early days. There are a lot of words that are similar to Arabic words in Yoruba. Take for instance in the Otura verse recited by Araba "Anabiyi" was mentioned. Though he explained what it mean in the verse but in arabic language, "Nabiyy" means prophet. Also, the term 'tira" is an arabic word for Islamic book or an amulet (seal) made for spiritual purpose. That word was not originally a Yoruba word. It means there is a convergence somewhere.

That imale and tira aspects look like what to be used to neutralize whatever any evil Islamic cleric might want to do against someone. This is a more logical explanation. Besides, Islam adherents always look for validation of their beliefs through other people’s religions. They always show feelings of insecurity. @@rufaiabubakar4964Ile IFA tiwa, Ile imale ( imale not imonle) tiwa, meaning Ifa and Imale is two of the four ancient Yoruba religion. Christian and Islam are religion based on faith ( igbagbo). If you know your history well Christianity has been in existence before Islam and IFA and imale before both. The word imonle just sound like imale but they don't mean the same thing. And the Yoruba language is a tonal language where two word that sound the same way, spelt the same means different things and it's the pitch or the tonality of the vowels that makes the difference e.g:
Oko = husband
Oko = heo ( farming tool)
Oko = spear.
Note: the four ancient Yoruba religion house are;
Ile Ifa
Ile Imale
Ile Jakuta
Ile àjéé.

This intriguing story needs further careful scrutiny because until the time that Imam ogbomoso burst the bubble, the traditional folks have always referred to islam as esin imale while the muslim are of the opinion that the word "isese" means ilana or principles and shouldn't be used as another word for esin iborisha.
Some kabiyesis also supported this view last year in a video that went viral on the internet.
The MUFTI of yorubaland, Sheik AbdulAkeem Amofe, sheik Mudiru and Oluwo of Iwo must beam some light on this.
Islam and yoruba tribe are intertwined because yoruba people came from middle east, their progenitor was HADDANDAWA who settled briefly in Sudan and later migrated to ile-ife.

We are not Arabs, but we are the ancient Hebrew. Look at the stories in the Bible, they sound like our traditional stories; the king, his priest and his people and their God. The thing is the slave masters; both arabs and European have made us doubt our own history. And there are many things about us that are known to our people just hundred years ago that we don't know again. If so, it might offer a solution of the problem of how it came about that traditional stories of the creation, the deluge, of Elijah, and other scriptural characters are current amongst them, and indirect stories of our Lord, termed "son of Moremi" The History Of Yorubas page 8, paragraph 3, book by Rev. Samuel Johnson". Rev Samuel Johnson was a British missionary that compile the most extensive history of Yoruba people while he was serving the then Yoruba kingdom through research from oral stories and myths told to him by our people. The book was published in 1869. And you can still find it in book shops today even though it's difficult and expensive I was able to finally hunt it down in Ibadan.
Note that the Coptic Christian assertion is out of his own Christian and European bias thinking that we must have been Christians for us to know the stories. Even scientifically our DNA analysis shows that we, the Lemba people, and the Igbos are closest in relationship to the ancient Hebrews. It's even stated in the book that the markings on Opa Oranmiyan is thought by many to be a forgotten Hebrew ancient writing form.
