Appreciate his persistence in dispelling the Major=Happy/Minor=Sad myth. It really is an oversimplified way of looking at it and I’ve always felt that even someone who doesn’t study music could and should be able to understand that it’s way more about the relationships between chords that create a much larger variety of emotions.

I have never learned anything about music but everything in this video was clearer than water, I may even start to have piano lessons because of this.

I don’t really think it’s a myth, just a simple way to remember at least for me it is. It helps me when I’m identifying intervals to think “does this interval sound scary/unsettling or content/happy” to tell whether it’s major or minor, or augmented or diminished.

i like that he is generous in sharing the thought and education behind (his) music (and also very eloquent at breaking it all down). artists can often be so stingy about their art, but i think generosity serves us all best so we can learn to create more humane beauty! bravo nicholas!

I watched If The Beale Street Could Talk because of the music, I had listened to Agape once in the trailer and got obsessed with it but I couldn't find the movie anywhere so I waited and when I finally got to watch the movie it was magical there are so many moments in the score where it feels like your listening to life and not music because it's an amazingly different experience.
