    I’m glad I got to see an actual all night rain to see if it leaked or had condensation and it shows it did not. I actually got a man crush on the look so now I know I will get one to go camping this summer on my motorcycle 👍🏼. Good review. The company got a sale out of this review.

      A brand-new tent may not exhibit any issues, but problems often arise after prolonged exposure to the elements such as sun, rain, and wind. A single night's demonstration in the rain is insufficient to reveal a product's true quality, especially if the content creator conducting the test has not purchased the tent themselves. In contrast, a consumer who buys the tent might feel deceived after just a few weeks of using a low-quality tent.

    Puddle Alert !- I've just bought the small sized one, and although workmanship is good, a major design flaw is that the top is not domed or even flat, but actually sags to form a "crater" or rain trap . Don't take my word for it, checkout some vids.
    The small "top cover" doesn't cover the whole crater, so any rain falling towards the outer edges of the crater will run inwards towards the centre and form a puddle which might then drip down the centre spindle.
    I'll try making a bigger top cover myself out of spare waterproof material to cover the whole diameter of the crater which should solve the problem.

      I don’t understand how people are having these issues. In our video we were in a heavy rain and didn’t get any rain inside.

      @@beastmodecamping I've heard that O.R. later brought out an improved version which might have fixed some early faults, but there's no way of knowing whether we've bought the early or late version. I emailed them to ask a while back but they never replied.
      I see also that some are on sale at reduced price, so perhaps they're the early version which they're offloading cheap.
      PS- anyway alleged leaks are not a big issue because we can easily buy a lightweight fly and use clothes pegs to peg it over the whole tent to guarantee waterproofing..:)

    I got one of their 2-person models this week as well and tested it twice in my living room to see how easily it sets up and breaks down. It really does take only a few seconds each way. And the stow bag is so innovative and simple, it's a wonder no one thought of that design before lol! Thanks for taking it out in a good downpour for a test; that makes me feel more secure about taking it out on bicycle tours with my solar trailer setup. 😄

    It’s a good idea to put a floor mat, same size as the floor of the tent, under the tent. Protects the floor.

    I just bought one. Set it up indoors and extra seam sealed it with carbon spray just in case, along all the joins. I think guy lines are important too so will be making my own up for first true camp. Otherwise, pretty impressive.

    • @sdsSonicSketchbook
      @sdsSonicSketchbook 9 месяцев назад

      This may not be the best tent for hiking. It packs down a little large and is a bit heavy for carrying on your back. I guess if your the kind of supper fit person that doesn't mind carrying a heavier pack then go for it, but be aware that it's going to add about 10.3 pounds to your to your pack and being 7"x7"x31", It's probably not going to fit inside your pack. You will need to find a way to attach it to the outside. If you do end up going with this tent, please follow up and let us know how it went. Good luck and be safe out there on the trail.

    We bought 1 Small-Sized + 1 Large-Sized 3 Secs Tent (Family Package, UK) × 1 in April. Managed to get the big tent up for the first time in the garden on Sunday. Putting up and down is a breeze, ingenuous really! However, the fundamental function of a tent is shelter, we had to physically lift the tent in the morning to poor water out through the door, it leaked like a sieve! Contacted customer service and their response was as follows "I apologize for the inconvenience. I have already forwarded this matter to our production team. We will do our best to further improve the tent." REALLY helpful then, my experience is AVOID AVOID, better to struggling with putting up and down, than be saturated!

    Love mine - so easy to pop up and take down - but only use it as a beach shelter and it’s fabulous for that - don’t think I’d trust it as a proper overnight tent as the seams don’t seem that watertight. Use my Vango for actual camping.

    Also, be aware the small size tent weighs a hefty 6 pounds which is a bit heavy for backpacking on foot or bicycle, so I think a motorbike or vehicle is needed.
    Suggestion to the tentmakers- bring out a 1-person version to cut down the weight.

    After buying one of these (large) and having it leak like a sieve in a moderate at best rain storm, I'd guess this was a "provided for review" model that was cherry picked...
    Because, even after 3 cans of camp dry, you'll still wake up in a puddle if it rains while you're in the turd I bought.

    • @beastmodecamping

      Nope, we only test out gear and give our honest review. If your is leaking I’d give the manufacturer a ring and get a replacement or refund. One of ours had a malfunctioning bracket on the 5 secs cabin tent and was quickly replaced.

    My poles kept collapsing in the wind. Theyre a little warped for some reason, and the weight of the bedroom in it isnt helping. Any idea how to reinforce? I did think of making some brackets from pvc or copper pipe or something,, to clip over the hinge and tie them on?

    • @beastmodecamping
      @beastmodecamping  5 месяцев назад

      i would send a picture to the manufacturer. I have noticed that these tent companies have some fierce competittion and seem to be really flexible when it comes to complaints. i would send them a couple of pictures and a description and see what they come up with. If you dont want to do that, My goto is usually duct tape or paracord :).

      Yea, it looks like that small cap piece may just be to protect the mechanism and hinges on the top. I'm not really sure how much protection that would need. I almost think it may be better at protecting that plastic from the sun. Maybe keep it from getting dry rotted over time. Would love to hear any other explanations on this.

    This tent is only really useful for the beach and in the garden. The poles are super flimsy. No way would it stand up to wind or any bad weather. I bought one last year. Yes, its easy to set up and its spacious but the condensation the morning after rain was dreadful. Its basically a single skin tent. No-one in the UK camping community (which is where I live) has ever endorsed it and I have donated mine to charity. Please folk, dont waste your money!

      Thank you for you insight. We have not had the tent for very long but the experience we did have was positive as you can see from our review. I spent the one night in the rain with it and did not have any problems with leaking or condensation. Maybe it's just a different climate or something. Overall I did like the tent. Perhaps we would need to get it into some more strenuous situations to get it to fail. Again, thank you for your input.

    • @paaao
      @paaao 6 месяцев назад +4

      If it's getting condensation inside, you may need to crack the windows on each side. Usually condensation issues are more due to temperature and heat exchange than actual water/rain on the outside. Dual layer tents help to limit this with the insulating air gap between the walls, but no light weight portable tent is going to withstand low temperatures outside with hot bodies, breath, heaters, etc on the inside.
