    Hi, heard u mentioned that there are new and old type for 20mm. The new one can hand press fit on rim without need to heat up. The old model do need to heat up then can press in.

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, the new one is a bit better in that regards. Not that you need much heat though. A hair dryer will do the job just fine.

    Sorry to bother, I'm pretty new in this hobby...
    But for 1/24 scale models 22mm rims are the best right?
    Or should I order 20mm rims?
    &what about heavy 1/24 welly model car bodys?

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  2 года назад +2

      Well, it depends. 22mm rims on Aliexpress have pretty random quality so you might have to put washers or shims on to make them fit well but the car will look good. The other way is to use 20mm quality rims from good racing brands like PN Racing, DXR, GL Racing and of course Kyosho then use the MI20-LFxS series to get the overall size up to the same as 22mm and fit the wheel arches. So it comes down to what you prioritize, looks or quality?
      As for the heavy diecast body it depends on the chassis. The weight dependent chassis like DriftArt won't work with that. But it'll work with HGD1. If I remember correctly the XRX DPA also works with diecast body too.

    Informative as usual Beaver!
    Later on in the video you mention the level of scratching as compared to the older compound. I have a few sets of the old compound and some have some very deep scratches from different track surfaces, do you have any tips on how to clean those up? I'm a little nervous to try and sand them and ruin the surface finish. Thanks in advanced!

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  2 года назад

      Unfortunately there's no cure for it except if there's some debris sticking out you can clean it by holding the car on a fine wet sandpaper no.1000 and above then run it to sand the tyre down. This will increase the grip so do it with caution.

    • @4by100
      @4by100 2 года назад +1

    Mr Beaver my Frend, what tire you recomend for mini z ma020 4wd drift car please? 🥰🐶

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  2 года назад +1

      DS Racing LF-1 or LF-3. The LF-1 has the same speed as Mini-Z tyres but it's more controllable. LF-3 is on the slow side.
      I haven't tried LF-4 and LF-5 on AWD yet though, all of those are in my RWD. Will need to test them some day after I finish my MA-020 video.

    do you think that for rc cars of this scale (I'm talking about 1/24 to 1/28) need oil shocks? I can't help but think of how bouncy they would be on asphalt roads without oil-filled shocks

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  2 года назад +1

      For touring car, yes. Not necessary oil because that won't fit but shocks with dampening grease will make the car more stable.
      For drifting we now use soft spring and rolling chassis instead, that works better with weight shift.aaa

    • @forthememes1311
      @forthememes1311 2 года назад +1

      I was very close to finish my k989 build but I ran into a few problems. The biggest one being the drive train not being smooth when I spin all the wheels together, but appears to be smooth when I spin the pinion gear alone. Could you let me know what could have done wrong? It was pretty smooth fresh after the build but after a 10 seconds test drive the problem revealed itself

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  2 года назад +1

      @@forthememes1311 Check the bearing slots, some might be tight and won't show the problem when spinning slowly. But if one of them is off or too tight, the car will stutter or get stuck.

    Since I'm also looking at the new MA-020 RTR set with Dodge Challenger, can you tell me which version of the LF-5 tyres fits on the stock rims of the MA-020 Dodge Challenger, and which version fits on the Atomic DRZ2?

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  2 года назад +1

      LF-5 the standard version is what you need for both cars. It's for all Mini-Z wheels. Try and get the narrow + wide set because from what I can see the Challenger has wide rear wheels.
      If you want to go all narrow on DRZ2, that's also a good option. Normally we use all narrow. As for the wheels, DRZ2 also use Mini-Z AWD wheels so don't go and buy Mini-Z RWD wheels because they won't fit.

    • @muaythai193
      @muaythai193 2 года назад +1

      @@BeaversHobby thanks again!
      standard is this?
      -Low Profile OD 24.5mm, ID 20mm.
      -2x Narrow 8.5 mm , 2x Width 11mm
      -For wheel diameter 20mm

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  2 года назад +1

      @@muaythai193 Yes, that's the standard 2 narrow, 2 wide.

    • @muaythai193
      @muaythai193 2 года назад +1

      @@BeaversHobby If I wanted to go narrow rear tires on the Challenger, which rims should I choose so that the tires still look good from the side?
      The Challenger has 11mm rear tires with 1.5 offset.

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  2 года назад +1

      @@muaythai193 If you want narrow that will have the same width then it's +2.5mm so for 1.5 wide you will be looking at 4mm offset narrow. Unfortunately that's not available so you'll have to use the 3.5mm offset.

    what chassis are those shown in the video? brand and link if possible.

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  2 года назад

      The 1/28 (motor on top) is DriftArt 2.5CC. It has been updated to DriftArt 2.6CC with better parts.
      The 1/24 (motor at the front) is BM Racing BMR-X standard version.
      It depends on where you are with the DriftArt. You'd better get a distributor from the description on one of my DriftArt video (too long to post all of them here). This one, for example. ruclips.net/video/Qjt2-FA3SMc/видео.html
      BMR-X is a bit harder to find. Here's the official website. www.bmracing.cc/?product_cat=chassis
