In the “special edition” Sharpie packs, there’s just 5 new colours usually (the packaging shows the 5 new colours), the rest are from their standard range. Papermate Flair do the same thing. All fine-tipped waterbased pens act the same way, that’s not unique to the Staedtler pens, it’s because you’re soaking the paper and then scratching it up. I’ve used them on Johanna Basford books and there’s no pilling of the paper. Paper is *everything* I sold both my Jane Davenport and Arteza brush pens on eBay because I realised I don’t like pens with real brush tips, too unpredictable. {Edit: all art tools have a learning curve and some even have specific uses in art or crafts so it’s worth checking out “how to use videos” for supplies you are struggling with. Not every art supply is suitable for colouring in colouring books}
The wink of stella pens you need to take off the black spacer completely and throw it away. It was there to prevent leaking in shipping. You must have pressed very hard to get it flowing... It was meant to never be put back on. You never have to squeeze that much at all. It will work like a regular water brush after that. Just glittery. For the Jane Davenport markers you need better paper, thicker watercolor paper or cardstock or bristol, or something coated like fingerpainting paper or a vellum and a much lighter technique. The colors will flow better and float above the paper if you coat your paper with gesso first. There is transparent gesso. If you want to color a large area you need to use a clear waterbrush or a regular brush and some water. Paper and surface treatment is more important than the supplies, especially if using midrange or trendy supplies. A better paper would make a huge difference in the watercolor set too Donate the supplies you don't like, or sell them on mercari or ebay. Those name brands get scooped up fast. I just got rid of a bunch of supplies that just don't work the way I work. Don't feel guilty, we all have different techniques in preferences. Good luck on your offloading and happy coloring journey.
I'm glad you fessed up on your regrets. I live on limited social security money and ANY art product mistakes I make cuts into my food budget or heating my house in the winter. Even items bought at a dollar store are too expensive if they don't work as expected. I hope you continue to show us your product failures/disappointments and successes as well. You're a fresh voice in the YTer coloring community. Best of luck. It's OK to ruffle some feathers.🎨♿👵Barb N.
Hi. Is there anything in particular you would like to have? Or do you have paypal so I can forward some money to you? I'm on disability benefits in the Netherlands and because I had a good income I'm doing fine now. Please let me know.
My goodness. I don't know what to say except thank you for your kind gesture. At my age, if I'm honest with myself, I'll die before I can use up my supplies. Hang on to your money. You may not need it today but catastrophes can happen. Bless you.🎨♿👵 Barb
I have the Jane Davenport paints also and don’t like the brushes. However, the colors are gorgeous and I want to use them. I squeeze some out on a palette and just use them like a liquid watercolor. Give that a try before you give them away. I totally agree about Arteza. I bought the set of 60 with refills awhile ago when I was new to coloring and didn’t know I only loved the glitter pens. So the set included neons, etc. I don’t like any of them, all scratchy and terrible flow. They are all in the trash including the refills. There are so many superior glitter pens out there at a fraction of what I paid for Arteza. Live and learn.
I buy a few open stock pencils to test drive the more expensive pencils before buying a big set. That’s how I discovered how much I love Luminance over Pablo’s,
On sep 24th, I have a pencil review going up. It includes staedtler, arteza and about 20 other stick/pencil reviews. You might be interested. I'm going through a clear out, too. A woman's shelter is a great place to donate! I'm looking at the hospital across the street, for their kids wards.
There are Dollar Tree Hauls, Costco hauls, Tarot hauls, scrapbook hauls, and Color pencils and book hauls. I love them, the choices and pocket book are still mine. I make my own decisions but information and reviews help. Haul Away.
I regret buying the derwent colorsoft, the posca color pencils and the schpirre farber color pencils also the pan pastels bc I don't used them as much for what I paid for them ...all these aren't bad quality just barely get used in my collection. Glad you posted this and have different fun content that keeps us accountable for our coloring decisions :)
So many things to spend your money on in the art supplies area and it seems like a land mine sometimes! I appreciate you posting this video with your honest thoughts. The only things I've been a bit curious about it the Wink of Stella pens. I'll just stick to Stickles and glitter glue pens.
I so agree with you on most of these items, especially the Wink of Stella. I bought a set of three and the gold was already dried out when I first endeavored to use it, the silver came out as blobs and the clear didn't work as well. Maybe I got a bad batch but was highly disappointed disappointed with all of them. I wish that I would've seen your page before I bought them. Kudos to you for your honest opinion, you've gained a new follower.
THANK YOU!! Rare is it that We see the BEWARE OF.. BEING HONEST.. Saves us, Especially I dont have much to spend..AND you know PEOPLE will TRUST your opinions.. I Appreciate you soo much hugs🙏🤟
I love Sharpie markers and I have the color burst. Thanks for comparing the markers. I was going to get the electropop but now I see there is no difference. Thanks for sharing.
oh man those shimmers are too beautiful to toss!! (I have pearlescent powder too.. it is a mess... however) As i refuse to waste, i add the glitter to craft glue, then use whatever tool i want to use.. paint brush, pins needles.. open to ideas.
For the Sharpies - I don't think the company would expect you to buy all Markersets they offer. They target more those maybe school kids and office people not Artists like you in the first place I'd say. That purchase One big and maybe - just maybe - one of the smaller Sets. To have some Replacements for a Color isn't a bad thing per se
Lol - yep this is what hauls bring, things you feel you wasted money on. For me : Sharpies - I NEVER use these, ever...I just can not get into permanent markers, Gelly Rolls - I don't like them, how they lay down or anything. I like juice smeary gel pens and they are not that and I do not like the way their metallic or glitter pens look, Derwent Coloursoft - I thought they would be better than Prisma and I just can't get into them. Derwent Lightfast 24 - I like the pencils but the set of 24 was what I felt was the biggest rip-off. I expected a normal set of at least two colors of each major color and what I got was a bunch of browns and only a couple of analogous colors (lots of purples as I recall). Not exactly sure what I am supposed to color with all those browns -mud? Faber-Castell Gelatos - I had better expectations and I hate to admit this - Derwent Inktense - After 3 yrs I still can't figure these out, it is just plain hard. It's a user end issue, not a quality issue but it is so frustrating! Finally lots of budget pencils - they just aren't worth it when you can buy small sets of Prisma and Poly Chromos while you learn.
My two biggest regrets recently have been Arteza Gouache, it’s thin and greasy, terrible stuff. The second are Derwent Inktense. They’re not permanent like everyone is saying, I got my money back on those.
This was really great to see. I have just got my first set of alcohol markers and I didn't get a expensive set because I got a set that was approved by amazon so I can get used to them and practice with them. I love the bracelet and your nails are amazing! The best trio Buffy. Faith and willow! lol I love that you did this video showing an un-haul because it's YOUR opinion doesn't mean others agree. Thank you for this!
I’m wondering if the Staedtler pens were originally designed for writing and note taking and that’s why they are so scratchy? I tend to think everything pen and pencils related can be used for colouring books, but that isn’t necessarily what they were designed for 😁
Yes they actually were made for drafting I believe. I remember when I was in collage back in the early 2000's to get them I had to go in the drafting/blueprints area of the bookstore.
In the Sharpie 24 sets:cosmic colors, color burst, etc, represent only a PORTION of that 24 set. Rest of the markers will all match. The ad is deceiving, but Mystic Gems do not refer to all 24 colors, only about 8 do
With the Jane davenport brush markers... you're not wrong but squeeze a bit into Palette and use them like that. They're not meant to be opaque because they're dye based and so so messy. I have done some of my best Watercolor work with them but sparingly and with a separate brush a little at a time...
I never really saw that show. My boys were little then and that time is a blur 😶🌫️. I may watch it at some point because many people have told me they really liked it. As far as your video of unpopular opinions.... you've certainly brought attention to your channel at this point 😸 but it's all opinions and everybody has them. I think this community is strong and able to move through things well enough. I've never spent even 100 on pencils and wouldn't unless I was doing pro art for a client. The mid range things are great for coloring for me and I got tired of sharpies years ago. There's a lot of markers to try. I'm happy with what I have right now. Interesting video and yeah the colors in those sharpies are the same, one of their great features 😾
Oh my goodness, some of these were supplies I was kindof thinking of getting. Now my wishlist has some dramatic cross-outs on it, and I'm grateful for the, uh, graphic warning. That red BLOTCH, oy. And those glitter things that glitter everything down to the inside of your lungs....wow. Pretty, but you can't even give them away! (I had a bright blue loose powder eye shadow pot, which was going to be used as glitter on painting.....you know how a sneeze can catch you by surprise (as opposed to the sneezes that give you an hour's warning)....you see where this going. It was pretty to watch the air glitter such a pretty blue, but it was still glittering an hour later. Took hazmat suits (homemade) to wear when vacuuming it up. You can't give that glitter stuff away, but some things you can. (Diamond Stickles are clear so the undercolor shows through, but clear paint glitter would be easier to use.) I enjoyed your sense of humor, and the reasons you didn't like things. Made sense to me!!! LOVE BTVS!!!! Who was your favorite character? Mine was Buffy, but I really loved the whole ensemble cast.
Glitter can either be your best friend or your worst nightmare! Those chalks were a nightmare! I’m so happy to meet another BTVS fan. Of course I love Buffy. But I’m a huuuuge Spike fan! I also love Willow. Her story arc is amazing!
@@BecksAndBooks Ooooooo Spike yummy sigh :D And Willow had such an amazing story arc. Have you ever done any BTVS fanfic writing? I have a feeling you'd be fantastic at it!
Hello. Try removing the black safety ring from the Wink of Stella pens & see if that doesn’t help. I mainly use my Jane Davenport markers in mixed media projects along with a water brush. No problems so far. 😊
Buffy is my favorite show as well! I love that bracelet! Beautiful! Where did you find it? I also love the soft piano music in the background. So relaxing. I'm going to play this next time I color, with a nice glass of wine :)
With water based markers, you can't keep going over areas. The paper fibers swell and ultimately fall apart. If you want to be able to build up color (by repeatedly going back over it), you need to be able to print on watercolor paper. Good luck finding a reasonably priced printer that can print on thick paper. I haven't found a home printer in the $200 range that officially supports printing on thicker papers, according to the official specifications in the product manual. Most laser printers only officially support weighs up to 43 lbs. Inkjet are sometimes as low as 27 lbs weight. I've looked at the specifications on a few more expensive machines, as well, and they aren't much better. People do print on has paper with them, but it probably would effectively void the product warranty, should one require manufacturer support. Because one is using the machine to do things beyond product specifications, and really abusing the hardware. I don't have much money, so I cannot risk killing a printer and voiding warranty coverage, his because I want to color. I think Sharpie fills out those sets with older colors. I'm not sure you can always find complete smaller sets of new releases, without buying the older colors. Even the big collector's edition doesn't have every color of Sharpie that had ever been available. I use markers as a base for colored pencils. When I set out to color only with markers, my results are too flat and boring. My printer can't handle marker paper, so I color directly in books. The ink dries pretty fast, so I haven't played with blending effects. So I'm not a market expert. Coloring Bliss ha s covered quite a bit of Sharpie information, including that big set. Which set of Faber-Castell watercolor paints is that? Can you please provide a full name or link? Thank you. I'm thinking of ordering a custom Coloring Bliss coloring book on watercolor paper, if I get any holiday gift money. I really like the look of the F-C set You showed. I find your honesty refreshing.
Thank you for the tips! I’ll edit this comment and let you know when I find out the exact set the WCs. And thank you for your nice comment about my channel. It means a lot.❤️

Great video 😍 I also reacted on Sharpies having several of same colors when I bought two different sets of them. Still struggle to handle the smell from them lol 😂
Im german and I agree with the fact that the staedtler Markers you have are awfull. They are the lowest quallaty pens staedtler has. But over all Staedtler is still a good brand. We mostly buy and use the triplus marker and triplus fineliner from them or the Stabilo pen68(felt tip) and point88(fineliner).
Although I am sorry that you do not see a difference between the three color pairs you asked about, it was clear that there is a difference in both tone and intensity between each color in the pair. It is subtle and does not pop out at me but it is there.
I agree with the pablo's I only got the 40 set and I was glad cause not my favorite. The Jane Davenport markers I put on a pallet and use another brush to use them and I love them! Vibrant colors. Try it that way. Wink of stella I have used for years and love them you have to squeeze them and give them a second to come down. They have a bit of a learning curve. But that is why there are so many products out there. Good video.
Haters gonna hate, just ignore it and move on. Trolls go to every RUclips channel out there, if they don't like your content, let them go somewhere else. I have that exact same pencil case!! ♥️♥️
I regret so many coloring books & art supply purchases. I regret buying Arteza colored pencils, Arteza watercolor pencils, Arteza water brush pen set. and I regret buying Castle Art pencils. I have pebble chalk pallet and regret those as well.
I agree with you on the Stadler water based markers, I purchased them with the intention of using the fine tip in some intricate designs I was coloring and God, that fine tip is horrendous, incredibly scratchy and I end up with lots of holes in my page 🤣🤣🤣 totally ruined. I passed them to my little niece. BTW, you me laugh so hard with the Jane Davenport brush markers 🤣🤣🤣 certainly is disappointing when you buy something and it doesn't work as you expected.
That’s true, I was just trying to get into coloring and I bought those fineliners so terrible! And the bad thing is all I heard everywhere made me think it was just me, even though I knew it wasn’t. Thanks for being truthful both of you!
Over the course of summer of 2020 I bought 5 sets of Tombow dual brush water based markers. Glad I didn't pay full price for any set because the fine tips did the same thing to the pages of many coloring books as you experienced. I don't use watercolor paper so I can't say how they might work on that. The Tombows are my big regret simply because I can't use them as much as I wanted to. Tombow is a good company, the markers come in beautiful colors and they are available open stock. I wonder if the problem is the tip or the paper. Hmmmmmm........
Nothing but positive comments on this video but almost 50 dislikes? Kind of seems like the haters are being petty and childish. But wait, isn’t that what they accused you of being? I’m confused. Keep making your videos and leave the petty nastiness to them. Do you, boo boo.
Thank you, Joanna. I’m really trying. But, ironically, these people are being everything that they’re accusing me of. I’ve been bombarded by hate for 24 hours straight now. It’s starting to take a toll on my mental health.😞
These people ARE the community. The “supportive and accepting” coloring community we’ve heard so much about. I guess they’ll support you as long as you agree with everything they say and do. Pretty much the state of the whole country right now. They aren’t worthy of your time. Keep making your awesome videos!
The brush pens are meant to be used on watercolour paper I expected like you to just be able to use straight from the pen but that's not how they work Now when I use them I use a pallet to dispense the colour on that way I can dab off excess and pick up the amount I need and add water it other colour to mix the shades I want
Good video, thanks for your warnings. The brush pens do look really nice i think i would have fallen for them as well. Some days ago i bought a cheap pencil set for 8 euros.. and when i wanted to send it back cause it was crap i realized the seller was in poland and i had to pay for the shipping from germany myself. That's probably more expensive than the pencils themselves.. But i think every artist or stationary fan knows these problems 😅
I find that watercolor brush pens are hard to use no matter the brand. I find using regular watercolor out of pans or tubes with a regular old school watercolor brush much easier to use, although not Arteza- go with either Schmincke, Sennelier or Daniel Smith (but word of warning, these are expensive professional grade). If you want to continue to use your watercolor brush pens maybe squirt the color onto a porcelain palette and use a normal brush maybe try watercolor paper instead of regular paper with it.
I’m so happy you made this video. You saved me from making a bad purchase. I was looking at the Pablo pencils, thinking of buying them but now I won’t. That’s probably why I don’t see anyone use them on u tube. Unfortunately, i had just bought the Wink of Stellas😩😢
I use my Jane Davenport Mermaid brush pens as a watercolor. I squeeze some out on a pallet and then use a paintbrush. It gives me more control that way. Just thought you might like to try it. 🤭 Thanks for sharing your videos ❤️
Great vid. I really do wish Sharpie would # or name all their pens/markers. As for the Staedtler, they are water-based. Any water-based marker/pen will do the exact same (pilling & paper breakage). I find the Staedtler best for finelining with alcohol markers as they won't smudge or used with papers built for watercolors.
I own many Stadtler markers. Water based can be tricky. I find when I use them on smooth paper and I use a light touch it seems to help. Can’t layer with them at all. I also have the Pablo’s. When used in combination with their ink tense pencils, they work wonderful with any paper. Finally Sharpies. I’m in agreement with those. I have multiple duplicates and rarely use them cause of the smell and contact high lol🌺
Hello! A suggestion on using water-based markers (dual tips) in coloring: *pointillism*, that way you can avoid breaking down the paper while filling the space with colors. There are quite a few tutorials on YT. Also, you can't please everyone at the same time, and since this is your channel, your opinions rule. I just hope people can be respectful and agree to disagree--there is always the option to stop watching.
I have been tempted to buy a 120 set of Polychromos but even though I can afford them, I just can’t get myself to spend so much money on any pencil set.
I understand that. But it is nice to treat yourself every once in a while. Or you could put them on your Christmas/Hanukkah or birthday list. They really are nice pencils.
@@sassybanjo3586 Totally understandable. Whilst I don’t have the nerve to spend that amount of money on one set, I’ve sure spent a lot on smaller sets adding up to that amount. I have a smaller set of polychromos on my wish list which will have to wait since I’ve just bought some other pencils.
I use Polychromos on my own illustration work, they’re brilliant and totally worth the price, I got the 120 set a couple of years ago on Amazon Black Friday and restock the individual pencils when I need to through open stock
Hi! I have the full set of Jane Davenport´s brushes and do LOVE working with them. I would´t rate these as bad quality. Honestly, I consider them a really good product. The ink is very bright and the flow is great. I think it´s a matter of style. Maybe these brushes don´t fit the style you like to paint in. Of course, like with all art suplies, even good quality products can either perform great or terribly, depending on what you intend to use them for. I would not use these in my coloring pages, because they really are very juicy and a bit unpredictable, and that is what I love about them when I work in my own illustrations. They fit my personal style. It´s OK not to like them if they don´t work for you, but if you want to give them a chance, as others said below, practice a few techniques, research a few tutorials... I know it´s a shame to be dissapointed with art suplies you where happy about, so I just wanted to say that these brushes have a lot of potential.
I feel the same way about Prismacolors as you do about Pablos. I live in Germany so the Prismacolors are extremely expensive ( over $200}! I found them poor quality for the money, so l sent them back! If l am going to spend that much money l want a nice pencil not ones that are chipped, broken and not centered.I am sticking to my FC Polychromos….BTW…use your Pablos, you are worth it and they want to come out of the case! Lol
I enjoy regret videos even if some of those regrets are supplies I have. I can take it! I’m interested in other people’s opinions, I just like them to be respectful. I ordered a small set of Pablos. I can’t wait. I have a small selection of luminance pencils and I save those for pictures that I want to color and possibly frame. The Pablos are going to be my go to alternative to prismacolor pencils. I did comment on your other video. I tried to be as objective and unemotional as possible. Peace. EDIT water based markers are going to pill the paper that’s why alcohol markers exist.
I have the full set of the pablos, and I hope you won’t get upset at me telling you they’re nothing like Prismacolors. They take a lot of getting used to after using the prismas. I hope you like them though 🤗🇬🇧
@@MoonSpinners thanks for the tip! I’m not upset at all. I’m heavy-handed and I’ve been looking for pencils that might let me achieve a translucent look in my coloring. I’m not a collector of pencils. I learnt early on that if I focus on something then I’m better off saving up and buying it rather than buying cheaper alternatives. The initial cost is more but in the end I save money, because I know myself so well. If I buy a cheaper alternative I will then buy another cheaper alternative, and in the long run would have spent more money than if I had saved and bought the product I originally wanted. Fortunately I don’t want a Porsche, Ferrari, or Lamborghini! 🤣
@@shadowguard3578 ..😂 with the amount of pencils I’ve wasted my money on, I could easily have bought a house to match the Porsche and Lamborghini 😱 I like the Pablos, but for me, I always gravitate back to Fabre Castellated Polychromos. They’re the best coloured pencil for me. ( I do portraits of animals and people) They’re slightly harder than prismacolor, they sharpen well and keep their point, but are highly pigmented and the majority have a high lightfast rating. Pablos are also great for natural subjects, portraits and nature studies, you have to have a light touch with them though, and do loads of layers to achieve the desired strength of colour, but yes, they’re lovely for doing soft, translucent work. Just be gentle 😆😁
@@MoonSpinners I’m really appreciative of your advice, thank you! I will keep that in mind that when I use the Pablos I will need to use a light touch to achieve a translucent look. Talking of polychromos pencils…. a set of 24 plus 6 open stock are on my wish list 😊. The six open stock colors appear in the larger sets and I don’t have the need for the larger sets. Right now I have three open stock polychromos pencils and I’m impressed at how they keep a sharp point whilst coloring. Once I’ve bought the polychromos pencils, I’ll be done. No more pencil buying for me. 🤩🤩🤩
@@shadowguard3578 famous last words 😂 that’s what I said years ago…no more pencils, then something tempting calls out my name 🤣 but I’m really glad you’re getting those brands, you’ll really enjoy them. Remember, sure and steady, not hard and heavy. 👍🇬🇧🤗
That glitter palette was a mess, you barely touched it and it was all over your hands. Those Jane Davenport paint pens are a heartbreaker. I had such a bad time with them they were a mess to work with and I would have ink stain my hands, they even would explode randomly in their pot or case and were so hard to clean up. I wound up throwing them out also.
Hi. The wink of stella you need to remove the black band then screw them together. Withe the band on the brush end is not in the camber correct. Hope this helps. In the UK the sharpies say its only 3 maybe 4 new colors in a pack
Sorry about this second comment [I should have waited until I saw everything] but I have to respond to your Arteza pens set. I have no idea why your Artezas behaved in such a terrible way but I will say you are going out on a limb recommending the Sakura Gelly Rolls instead. If I were to write a review of the Sakuras that I purchased at Michael's I would say exactly what you say about your Artezas: dried out; hard to get started; pullls up the paper grain; bad coverage; and inconsistent color. It seems to me what we have both possibly experienced is the very low quality assurance standards that apply in the manufacturing world for these coloring supplies.
Great video, yeah I don't like wink of Stella either, and I'm as sad as you about the Jane davenport markers, they are so pretty, glad I didn't buy them now, Thank you for a great video, ❤️ hugs 🤗🤗🤗
I’m glad you’ve posted despite the unnecessary gatekeeping and drama. I love the Pablos but once you’ve got all the main pencils (polychromos, Holbein, Luminance) there isn’t a wild difference between them. I did get my Pablos 120?second hand barely used so I don’t mind so much.
Thank you, Kimi! I’ve survived childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, the unexpected death of my dad and a new diagnosis of fibromyalgia and I’m still standing. If none of that could take me down, a group of offended people don’t stand a chance!❤️
I have seen other reviews of the Startled water markers one of the Reviewers sent them back but both said the same thing about shredding the paper bread video thanks 👍
Great video! Everyone has different styles and opinions. But shame on people for being so mean. I don’t like the Arteza gel pens either or their two markers. Keep on doing you. I think you’re great.
LOL Thanks for this video!!! I was laughing at the Jane Davenport waterbrush markers thinking, "Wow, so that is why I hate Jane Davenport art! She must be using these things!" When I worked at Michaels there was a time that Jane had her own section with her products. They ran out so fast and never seemed to come back in stock. I see why! I do use a powder palette of hers called Birthday Suit and it works well! LOL I would still use the markers tho, but I would put them onto plastic and dab them with a more reliable brush :)
Great video. A few suggestions. Try Arteza Glitter only gel pens they are very nice. I like them more than my Sakura Gelly pens. I agree the metallic ones are gross. Also, the Jane Davenport brush pens I think they are to be used like watercolor in a pen. I know there are some if not a ton of videos on ways to use them. It would be a shame if you tossed them. They do look very nice. Thanks again for sharing. 😁
I definitely don't want to throw away the Jane Davenport pens. They're so beautiful! I'm going to try using them the way you and others have suggested.
I'm so sorry you got disrespectful comments. I wish I could give you some motherly love and support .... I appreciate your videos and opinions. Love Marcia in Modesto
sharpie have filler colors in every set...only a few in the set are new...the most disappointing set is the mystic gems (you can find singles of the at dollar tree they are so bad) the tips are made out of something new and I hate them...I love pablo pencils i have a few singles but I could never see paying that much for them my singles were all bough on markdown even..I get more joy out of a 20 dollar set..and I do not like the little fine liners what a waste of money
As I start to watch this video and glanced at your unpopular opinion video, I have EVERYTHING you have mentioned and more. Price paid depends on the purchaser.
@@TheBibliophilePuzzler Ok. It just dawned on me what you’re doing. You’re bringing your nastiness from the other video over to this one. You just want to come over here to be contrary to anything I say because you don’t like me. Keep your resentment in the comment section of the other video. This video has nothing to do with any of that.
You don’t push down on the brushes, you’re not meant to put pressure on the brush, you use delicate mark making not just blocking in big spaces. I would suggest dispensing the ink onto a porcelain palette or some acetate and then pick up the ink from that and if you want to press down you can use a separate firmer brush. I’m thinking that you need to learn to loosen your grip when colouring and learn to glide over the paper and knowing when pressure is needed.
In the “special edition” Sharpie packs, there’s just 5 new colours usually (the packaging shows the 5 new colours), the rest are from their standard range. Papermate Flair do the same thing.
All fine-tipped waterbased pens act the same way, that’s not unique to the Staedtler pens, it’s because you’re soaking the paper and then scratching it up. I’ve used them on Johanna Basford books and there’s no pilling of the paper. Paper is *everything*
I sold both my Jane Davenport and Arteza brush pens on eBay because I realised I don’t like pens with real brush tips, too unpredictable.

A better paper would make a huge difference in the watercolor set too

To be honest, I love my Pablos. They work great on Amazon paper, as they are a harder pencil. They are one of my faves. I love all Caran dAche pencils

Agree on the Staedtler water-based markers, but their dual-tipped permanent markers I love!
yet an other brilliant video to watch. :) thank you for sharing!
$200 for colored pencils?! Wow. Honestly, i just use crayola color pencils and sharpie markers.
Well…about the Sharpie markers…lol!😆

The ad is deceiving, but Mystic Gems do not refer to all 24 colors, only about 8 do
I would feel cheated if I had bought all the different sets just to find out they were the same colors.
Definitely give Buffy a go. So much fun😁 I wish I could watch it again for the first time...sigh.
(Diamond Stickles are clear so the undercolor shows through, but clear paint glitter would be easier to use.)
I enjoyed your sense of humor, and the reasons you didn't like things. Made sense to me!!!

That Faber Castell watercolour set looks awesome, I’m tempted 😍😍
Im german and I agree with the fact that the staedtler Markers you have are awfull. They are the lowest quallaty pens staedtler has. But over all Staedtler is still a good brand. We mostly buy and use the triplus marker and triplus fineliner from them or the Stabilo pen68(felt tip) and point88(fineliner).
Although I am sorry that you do not see a difference between the three color pairs you asked about, it was clear that there is a difference in both tone and intensity between each color in the pair. It is subtle and does not pop out at me but it is there.
I cant stand the smell of the sharpies so yeah I agree with you. Those suck 😂
The Wink of Stella is used for only a touch of highlight to your scrapbook page or your homemade cards.

I agree with the pablo's I only got the 40 set and I was glad cause not my favorite. The Jane Davenport markers I put on a pallet and use another brush to use them and I love them! Vibrant colors.
They were horrible!😂
Couldn’t agree with you more about the arteza gel pens. I was totally disappointed in them. Another great video. Thanks again

The brush pens are meant to be used on watercolour paper
I expected like you to just be able to use straight from the pen but that's not how they work
Now when I use them I use a pallet to dispense the colour on that way I can dab off excess and pick up the amount I need and add water it other colour to mix the shades I want
Thank you! The way I’ve been using them is a disaster, as you saw.😂
By the way love your nails. Insane!
Thank you!❤️
I own many Stadtler markers.
The smell is strong but are we really that upset about a little contact high? Lol!!!
You made me giggle lol

@@BecksAndBooks Ok! On my Christmas list, for sure. 😊
I recently bought a 36 set of polychromos and love them. Not interested in the full set but I will probably by open stock colors that I like.
Well said.
Great advice now I have watched tutorials on how to use these I am enjoying them
So much more
I feel the same way about Prismacolors as you do about Pablos. Lol
Was that a Davenport bag the waterbrush pens were in? Its adorable. So is the milk carton one.
Yes it was! You’re very perceptive!😉
I did remove the black band. I must’ve received a bad set or I just can’t get the hang of them. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the latter.😆
I did get my Pablos 120?second hand barely used so I don’t mind so much.

sharpie have filler colors in every set...only a few in the set are new...the most disappointing set is the mystic gems (you can find singles of the at dollar tree they are so bad) the tips are made out of something new and I hate them...I love pablo pencils i have a few singles but I could never see paying that much for them my singles were all bough on markdown even..I get more joy out of a 20 dollar set..and I do not like the little fine liners what a waste of money
As I start to watch this video and glanced at your unpopular opinion video, I have EVERYTHING you have mentioned and more. Price paid depends on the purchaser.
And I LOVE the pastel sets. Do NOT have glitter everywhere.
27:00 girl burn those lol... they are gosh awful 😖....
You live and learn, get a grip!
@Lizzie Fitz I’m not quiet sure how to take your comment. Did I miss a joke or are you being snarky about something? Genuinely asking.
