Good information, in addition for returning residents the car can be up to 10 years old, however you must prove ownership of atleast 6 months here in japan before sending it home.

Basically Jamaica is set up for you to lose. Its ranked as one of the worst counrty to import and the customs fee's are outright ridiculous.
After he explained all of this to me. I calculated and realized that it is set up for those at the top to profit and those at the bottom to lose
Customs in Ja set up to maximise hustling and scamming opportunities, i find. Just have to go clear a barrel to see what i mean.

Nice video however the percentage that Jamaica charges varies to clear the vehicle. Engine size and source of power determines the customs charge. Standard is 75% of the vehicle cost.

Caution...Many Accident Vehicle end up having problems...in JAMAICA. Lots are causing nuff problem. You get what you pay for....UP your budget and get a proper vehicle. I used OUTSOURCERS out of Mandeville and they were OMG the best ever. Prices were great and my 2012 Honda StepWGN looked BRAND NEW when I got it. They cleared it...right to my front door. They have license to clear. Their prices are EXCELLENT. way under costs of buying in JAMAICA. BTW returning residence dont get much discount...not on vehicles anymore...thats why I bought mine thru OUTSOURCERS via JAMAICA. No Risk.

If you know someone directly in Japan buy from them not one of the online companies. They buy in bulk and then ship them out without fixing anything

How would you go about getting a drivers license in japan? I know u start off carrying the IDP but whats next?
A drivers license in Japan is very EXPENSIVE ( 0ver 300,000 Yen) about 3,000 USD. The process is also very difficult for foreigners

When you buy a car in Jamaica the dealers include all of these costs plus a little something for themselves

Anything you send to 🇯🇲 expect to get robbed by everyone. The price is always inflated on everything. Jamaicans think money grows on trees. Don't send food don't send goods don't send equipment vehicles etc. Go all inclusive and enjoy the resort and leave. Do not interact wid the general public pure higgling and haggling shit is exhausting trying to stay away from vendors everyone wants u to buy. They follow u throughout the markets like insects

I would advise speaking with or getting in contact with a registered dealer. I have seen so many persons get robbed by trusting people they do not know.

There are several websites. You just have to search for cars in Japan and several will pop up

It all depends on when they source the vehicle and the time it takes for coot to get to the island and for customs to clear it

Trust me…I have been back in Jamaica a year now and it seems like everybody is trying to hustle something. Could be as a result of the economy or just the moral compass of the persons I have met but definitely search around and contact the best person to do business with

I import ans sell cars in the Bahamas. Jamaica is very restrictive with all of these fees and rules. It's like they want keep the people poor. I'm shocked listening to this

Him still don't talk about the Jamaica customs fee to clear the vehicle
He did talk about the customs fee…he said that they charge based on the cost of the vehicle…he cannot tell you that it will cost 10 or 20 dollars because the figure changes per vehicle
It's about 45% with Import duty, cost, insurance & freight, environmental levy, customs admin fee, cost of item, standard compliance fee, tax ect...
The duty varies on engine size. Hybrids are 40% of the price of the car plus the shipping cost, 1000cc or less 50% and so on. Duty is a combination of import duty plus a other tax plus GCT. You need to apply for an import license, you have to pay a broker and there is a Kingston Wharves fee.
