    Just arrived in Chiang Mai for first visit and should have checked weather first. Had to go ankle deep out of hotel to get to dinner. Understand others in worse shape, so best wishes!

    Night bazaar is under water ! So many people are affected in the area. As a foreigner, I have more resources than average Thai, so I'm good. I do feel for all the locals affected. Thai people are super resilient and will weather this storm as well.

    Be careful on the bridges mate watched one disappear in Vietnam last week, get some food in and put Netflix on for a few days

    Yeah Wayne, I tried go night Market tonight, couldn't cross the road, but it was okay I found bar above the flood level, we had a banging night, Chiang Mai is great😊

    Great video Wayne. Could you provide your viewers which one of the nice new moobahns where most expats live, are flooded? It will help anyone who consider settling down in Chiang Mai in the future. I saw your flood video last year and I don't see ANYTHING being improved in Chiang Mai to prevent more floods in the future.

    It was all nice and sunny here in Chiang Mai today...mostly.....but that doesn't mean the waters coming from up river and the mountains have stopped. Hopefully good news to come.

    Still not as bad as back in 2011 mate it was more than half way up Loih Kroh terrible situation for those affected,

      Pretty bad further down mate but 2005 and 2011 were bad. I’m all good Gaz, still flooded down my way but all is well. Hope all is well mate 👍

    It’s about 1 am now , sep 26, at it’s rainning cats and dogs in Mae Hia. Just wondering about tbe situation in downtown and Hangdong.. and my kid’s school. Be safe everyone

    Because of rampage corruption by the authorities my friend house was flooded. You see near his house was a huge canal and illegal emigrant cover it with plank and build houses on it. Over the years debris choke the canal and making cleaning impossible. Numerous attempts to report to the relevant authorities gone astray because of corrupt officials took bribes from those squatters. Hope the authorities do something about it urgently.

      Still flooded in areas (including mine). But it’s slowly improving.

    How bad will it be if it comes up 20m from normal like it has in Laos?
    With all the extra rain could stack up a bit higher if it lines up perfectly wrong.

      Yes, they do but this is a bad one. Floods ruined the original city many many years ago.

    Which cities are safe to live without a risk of flooding?
    Is Khon Kaen safe from flooding?

      Any on higher ground or away from rivers. I’m not sure about Khon Kaen, I’ve never been there.

      Don’t count on it. It usually rains frequently through mid-October…at lease it has for the past 15 years I’ve been traveling to Chiang Mai.

      As I prepare for the eventual move over, definitely had flooding as a tiny thought in the back of my mind. I used to live across from Maya. Seemed like the floods were more on the flats or near the river. Still this is rough for everybody now. Stay safe!

    People are used to it now...... I think the first time many people experienced it was in 200x, because according to Thais, it was the first in decades. It flooded till the backlane of Pantip.

      2005 and 2011 are the years most talk about. The old original city Wiang Kum Kam was always flooding back in the day also though, that's what destroyed it.

      I’m looking at the north east outside the old city, around Santitham rd. Looks like it’s the opposite side of the floods.
