Gorgeous fabric n that shirt looks perfect on your figure the alterations you made is chefs kiss... with a simple garment the fabric really makes it... the black with roses I would pair with black jeans or slacks n feel dressed up n the cute plaid one would be a great hang out around one... I have a couple of patterns like this one I'll have to raid my stash for some new shirts for spring... thank you for the inspiration... love that fabric 😊
Great video! I haven’t sewn any garments in years, but you are getting me inspired. Thanks for all the pattern details! And the shirt is lovely on you. ❤️
Thank you for such a detailed tutorial! I have been having trouble with raglans, the last three I did were either way to wide in the neckline, or baggy in the armpits etc. This one not only seems to be pretty easy, so I will try it as soon as they go on sale🤣That's one thing about the Big 4 is sometimes the instructions are a little vague, and a video is so helpful! Thanks!-Mary
It depends but I often do. Especially if I am being careful of placement for design or if the pattern is asymmetrical. Also, if the fabric is directional or has a nap I cut with the right side showing.
It looks amazing. I love the beautiful roses. Where did you get your fabric? I'm getting ready to cut out the short sleeve version. It will be my first clothes that I have made but I have quilted for 20 years. I loved your video.
Thank you! Please update on your project once you make it. I got my fabric on Etsy. It is linked in the video description. I love you are trying out garment sewing. I made a few basic quilts when my kids were little. My sister is the real quilter in our family. Though she is an amazing garment sewist too. She was my first sewing teacher.
@stacyrobbins thank you. I finished my shirt. I had a problem with the neckline stretching. Is there a way too keep this from happening? I was in between sizes so my shirt is a little tight but this was my muslin one. All in all for my first time it wasn't too bad. I also didn't but darts in the sleeve and I just kept the same sleeve pattern.
@@gailewalker1025 on the neckline. The shirt neckline will be larger without the sleeve dart by quite a few inches. This may cause issues when adding the neck binding. To keep it from stretching more, stay-stitch the neckline of the top before adding the binding. I hope this helps. A muslin is always a good idea! Did you do a knit for the muslin?
What needle and size are you using on your sewing machine to sew knit? I love that floral fabric! Very pretty! I am a sucker for floral. It turned out great!! Fits you awesome.
I used a 90 universal needle. 80's and 90's are my most used sizes. I seldom use ballpoint though I know many have great success with them. I never have. 🤷🏼♀️ Thank you!
Thank you! I did not use a stretch stich for the hems or the edge stitch of the neckline. If this were tight it would be necessary to prevent popped stitches. I often do a cover stitch when I want a stretchy hem or twin needle on the sewing machine. Edge stitching is usually just a straight stitch and I don't always do it on a knit. Especially if it is a tight neckline that is hard to get over the head.
@@carolhiller1112 it does! The bobbin zigzags from behind between the two needles. So on top it looks like two straight stitches but on the wrong side you see a zigzag. It's the best of both worlds!
Really like that pattern.. both shirts are great on you.. thanks for guiding us "older" sewists...
Thanks for tuning in! I love that there are so many of us sewing together.
Love how your top came out . Love that you do these sew alongs.
Thank you! 💕
Beautiful top!!! I love the flowers and looks so good on you
Thank you!
I am so glad you chose this pattern because I have it too
Thank you! Have you made it yet? It's quick and cute!
@@stacyrobbins I have not yet. But I am going to

Thank you so much! I would love to hear what fun things you uncover in your stash to sew up. I hope to work on the plaid this weekend.
Such a great top. Very versatile! Never sewed a raglan before but now I just may try it!
Thank you! I am the raglan cheerleader 😅

I'm so glad you are watching even if you don't currently sew. Thank you!

That's why I do these. Instructions can be vague or confusing. I would like to hear if you try this pattern if it is a better fit.
I'm going to buy this pattern when it goes back on sale and use your video to make it.😊
SAME! I buy almost everything on sale. I keep a list of patterns waiting for the next sale. 💸
Looks lovely, thanks for the inspiration. I must get this pattern.
Thank you!
Very nice shirt. I always learn something when I watch your videos. I have a raglan shirt pattern that I want to make for my daughter-in-law,
Thank you! Since you have made one already it will be a breeze the second time!
Beautiful raglan top! I have just ordered the pattern and can't wait to start sewing. 😊
Please check back in and update on how your top comes out. I love to hear what fabrics etc. others choose.
❤
Thank you!
When you cut out fabrics, do you always have the pretty(right) side out?

@stacyrobbins thank you. Yes, I used knit for the muslin. It was a light weight knit.

Thanks for sharing, it’s beautiful. Please can you tell me if you used a stretch stitch when you stitched the hems and topstitched the neckline? ❤❤❤

@@stacyrobbins Thanks for this information it’s good to know for the future. Does a twin needle actually give a stretch?

@@stacyrobbins thank you so much for taking the time to explain this. I really love your tutorials xxx
Hi. I'm here. I am watching. What size does that pattern go to.
It is sized xs to xl. The xl is a 20/22. I have a feeling you can do the same alterations I do to get a better fit.
