I’m sick and tired of this games shitty developers. 1 week straight and 40 videos, reading forums, contacting support, nothing works.
The fix that helped me was disabling Discords Overlay which I didn't even know was open. Hope this helps anyone!!

My system specs are
i5 4th gen
8GB RAM
1 TB HD
Intel HD Graphics family 2 GB
& my laptop also has NVIDIA GEFORCE (green) sticker on it.
When I right click on desktop it also shows NVIDIA control panel.
I tried all the ways shown in the video except editing that config.cfg file as I dont have that file in my COD folder only Players folder is there & it is empty.
What shall I do?
I have Nvida 2080 Ti x 2 , the config file doesn't state I have 2 graphics cards on that bottom line. I have no idea where to find the Identifier code for the other card to fix the line, If I even need to do that. I've had this problem since may. I've completely reset my pc since then

The error message shows on my screen but when I try to scan and repair once it gets to 68% it just crash and say try again I am confused cause I feel that's the main issues for it not loading
I went from being able to play the game just fine. Im running an older GPU Nvidia 765m. One of the recent updates have me the dev error 5759 but saying my gpu isnt good enough anymore. In all honestly im confused why i have this error. Im gonna see if anything works here

I agree. Very frustrating. I have all the system requirements. Only thing I haven't tried is installing windows 10, as i'm still using windows 7. If that's the case, it's not worth
Jesus Rubio I actually had windows 7 until last week and did the free upgrade. Game gives the same direct X unrecoverable error
The thing i’m confused about is... my friends seem to have 0 crashes on pc while i’ve literally encountered almost every single dev error and disc error that exists. I sincerely doubt that any of my hardware are spoilt as well... my specs : i5-8400k cpu, GTX 1080, 8gb ram 2400mhz. Any ideas?

Things I did that fixed DX crashes for me:
Disabling dx12
Updating Windows
Deleting MW cache files (in Documents)
Turning off Discord overlay

so like 2 months ago i had the game i played some matches on my xbox account and then got false banned u kno i created a new acc played some more and left but i had the same problem and it worked by removing overlay but this time i have discord overlay disabled and it still doesnt work

i have done every step of this, and other videos and the game still crashes with the same error after maybe 20-30mins. im desperate and out of options
when i open another tab it just does it for some reason its so annoying

@troublechute i would like to point out that designating your ssd space for ram usage also helps to remove this directx error, i have legion Y530 laptop with 8 gb ram, i5 8300h and gtx 1050ti. Hope it helps others.

it might help i was using msi afterburner and the reiva tuner to show the benchmark on screen and i try every fix in this video but when i got to the part that told me colse some programs i close it and start working well and no issuse

If you back away from the mic by a couple inches you can eliminate that boomy sound. It's called proximity effect. It can save you the headache of fixing it in post. Great video!

THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS SAVED MY EXPERIENCE after changing the game setting to -d3d11 it pulled up my game and told me that some files were corrupted and that i could fix them. not its working like a charm

Disabling discord overlay seemed to work for me. Discord does not have to be open for this to effect the game. Hope this helps!
just a quick question. my issue happens when i alt tab out of the game then alt tab back into it. got any idea on how to fix that?

I just installed the game and already have the directx error and cannot launch the game I have no cache as I have not opened the game before but I will try to restart my computer to see if that helps using the command line -d3d11 didn't help for me

I have an i9 9900k and a rtx 2060 I was playing the game just fine last night but when I loaded it up this morning it won't even launch without giving me "direct x has encountered an unrecoverable error"

A lot of fixes for an error that wasn't an issue until a recent patch.
Disabling discord overlay worked for me!
I've tried everyting in this and other videos but still have the problem. My laptop have a vega 10 grafic card and RTX 2060, if I disable 2060 game runs ok, but 29 FPS. I have 5 days with this problem.
those 2 grafic cards are not compatible.... Remove the vega 10

I just bought this game today I have it on win 7 with an ndvia GTX 770 card I updated it and did an run checking to see if this game can run on my PC everything check off but this stupid error keep showing up

I got these errors
For me it was an FPS and GPU temperature overlay. I closed MSI afterburner and the problem was fixed
Disabling every overlay including Nvidia highlight discord overlay and I uninstalled MSI afterburner and my game not only doesn't crash but runs much smoother!

directx11 method helped me ty
I found that if you DISABLE the OVERLAY in DISCORD that your game will work fine.
1. Open Discord
2. Go to User Settings (The screw by your name on the Discord app)
3. Game Activity
4. Find: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
5. Toggle the overlay OFF (Screen should show a RED X on it)
6. Test: Run your game. ENJOY!

Disable all the overlay of discord by going in discord's settings > overlay and uncheck and the problem is gone

Open discord, bottom left theres "user settings" with the gear icon, open that and go to "Overlay" and toggle it to off at the top of the prompt.

before you try any of this methods, try closing the discord overlay. it fucks up warzone for some reason

Late here but this issue has only just started creeping on me, had weeks with no issues S5 drops and I crash every 1-3 games of warzone (only warzone) multiplayer doesn't crash.
I've tried every fix except disabling Dx12.
Every fix seemed to work for few games, got my hopes up, then boom another fatal error crash.
I will try disabling Dx12 and running it on Dx11. But at this point with 12+ fixes found and tried this issue it's totally ridiculous, and shouldn't be happening from a 280GB £45+ AAA game. Especially 5 seasons after launch.
Activision support is useless and doesn't even want to engage this issue. I'm going mad as my partner had crashes for a few days, did one fix and it solved her issues and now she plays warzone without me every day because mine now breaks for no reason.

I have a Alienware rtx laptop . So I tried everything nothing worked . What game does is changes your screen resolution in Nvidia control panel which changes to Fullscreen to aspect ratio and you have to change it back to Fullscreen mode I don't know why the game does that. It should work. It worked in my case.

try disable fast boot in BIOS
one thing that pisses me off is the fact youtube disabled dislikes because this is my 4th video...
make your own with "bring back youtube dislike" ad on for chrome :) maybe you have an fps or discord overlay on top of your game? switching that off solved it for me

YO FOR ME IT WAS EITHER RIVATUNER OR MSI AFTERBURNER I CLOSED BOTH AND ITS WORKING NOW. PS i got this idea becuase among us crashed because of rivatuner so try that too!

Underclock the ram frequency. I was from 3200 to 3000. No crash now
Tried a lot of solutions but the best for me was that putting an additional line in settings (battlenet) -d3d11 (dash is needed) no freezes anymore, while dx12 is already been there for a couple of years dev's don't program the game well for dx12, seen it in a lot of games and a lot of ppl. DX 11 is more crash proof

the command line does nothing, the game doesnt have any dx11 mode. it was purely designed and made in dx12 and therefore cant run in dx11.

I did most of this shit and it made it worse, now it crashed in the menu's instead of randomly in game. Sick!
I got the AMD Radeon sapphire pulse rx 5700 XT graphics card and I am using Adrenaline 20.7.2 and I get the Direct X error along with all these "fixes."

Same here man. I’ve ruled everything out already, except my PSU and the game. Thinking my 600w PSU isn’t enough for my i9 9900k and my power color red devil 5700xt bc my games keep crashing but also got BSODs. Gonna change it this weekend and see if fixes anything. If that doesn’t work, Im going to come to the conclusion that it’s the game. I’ve gotten this directX error, COD dev errors 6068, 5624, and 6328 and tried all these “fixes” but nothing.
It was the discord overlay for me. Never used to be an issue before :/
