    I bought the same ceiling light from Amazon on Prime Day for $35 for a closet that has no lighting. I put an extension cord in the closet and hard wired the ceiling light and use an Aqara mini switch, thru automation, to turn the light on and off when I open and close the closet door. Works perfectly.

    If it came with a remote. You could mount the remote on the wall. If you don't plan on moving the remote around with you or leaving it somewhere.

    I know someone asked before but I can't see the question was answered. Can you please tell me how you managed to get the remote to work? Did you have to pair it somehow? Any help appreciated

    Most Zigbee based products except for HUE are reasonably priced. Update you Hue Bridge to Matter, and lots of inexpensive products for Apple Home. 🙂 Of course these days, Even Ikea's homekit only hubs are exposing third party devices to homekit. Shhhh the homekit police will come after them. This product reminds me of Ikea's Floalt panels. Better I think to get a nice dual bulb fixture and add a couple great low priced RGB zigbee bulbs or those Linkind MATTER bulbs.

    Of course the one in the video is out of stock right now but I found rebranded versions that have a slightly less convenient mounting option. But these have fixed the flickering issue I had using LED puck lights and smart switches (I run mine on an off-grid inverter so 99% of you will not have this issue).
    I am removing all the puck lights and replacing them with these.

    I have had problems with Lutron switches and connected hue bulbs when I turn off the hue bulb with the app or voice assistant it turns off then the Lutron Caseta switch turns it back on

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  3 месяца назад +1

      Generally speaking, smart bulbs do not play nice with smart switches. You cannot use Lutron Caseta switches with smart bulbs. You will need a switch with a "smart bulb mode" if you want to use a switch with a smart bulb. Something like the Inovelli switch... video here: ruclips.net/video/QGN9a0QLB4Q/видео.html

    So question I want to do Lutron Caseta switches but I want the led rgb led puck lights, are they compatible together? I see Orein and govee disc lights are compatible but I can’t figure out which pairings are compatible

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  4 месяца назад

      Generally smart switches don't play well with smart bulbs or smart light fixtures. Lutron Caseta switches need to be used with regular (dumb) light bulbs.
      If you want to use a smart light bulb/fixture and a smart switch, you will need a smart switch that has a "smart bulb mode" feature. Inovelli has a smart switch, that looks similar to Lutron Caseta, and has this feature. I will be releasing a video on it within the next week.
      Also, the Aqara ceiling light, paired to an Aqara smart switch, would be another good option. I also made a video on the Aqara Ceiling Light.

    Hi Shane, are you still using this ceiling light? I want to buy it but the reviews in Amazon are destroying it. Thanks in advance

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  14 дней назад +1

      I am no longer using it. Since I installed this, there were other smart ceiling lights released that I liked better: The Aqara T1 Ceiling light and the Nanoleaf Skylight. I've made videos on both of them.
      The Aqara ceiling light is a similar style, but much better quality. I'd say it's worth the extra money (still not terribly expensive) if you have an Aqara Hub.

      @@ShaneCreates yeah, you are right. After typing this comment, I rewatched your review for each of those ( the T1, and the Nanoleaf) and yeah, rather than try here for less money I should get one of those and play safe. Thank you

      Nope. Change the old bulbs to LED replacements and the change the switch controlling it to a smart switch. Cheaper than replacing the fixtures.

    Shane ? i have the Lutron dimmer switches, so am concerned about the issue you reported , did anyone else have this issues ?

    • @MNpale
      @MNpale Год назад

      The problem was likely related to it being a dimming switch, not just because the switch was smart. So you could probably use a Claro instead of a Diva, for example. Even better would be a Pico so that the power to the bulb is never cut off.
      If you need dimming, then the smart light needs to support dimming natively. Even in that instance, you wouldn’t want to dim from the Lutron.

    • @SandeepSawhney
      @SandeepSawhney Год назад

      @@MNpale thanks, the whole house has lutron diva .. i could still try it out and see

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  Год назад +1

      Even if you get any smart Lutron wired Switch to work, if you turn the Lutron switch off, the light fixture will still become unresponsive in HomeKit until the switch is turned back on. That’s the issue with using most smart switches to control smart bulbs/fixtures.

    I am not a big fan of china products and try to avoid them as good as possible. Don't get me wrong, I know that 90% of all our stuff gets produced in china but I think there is a big difference between a big manufacturer (like apple) that produces in china with quality checks and a no name brand from china that just tries to make a quick buck.

  • @Nick-jf1il
    @Nick-jf1il Год назад

    this light CANNOT BE REPLACED. This WHOLE DEVICE is e-waste nightmare fuel. you cannot replace the led strip. you can't buy replacements, and they are soldered to the board, there's no standard connection.
    They COULD just make the led strips connect to the board with usb c or even smaller board connectors, making these things replaceable. They don't so you'll have to be a repeat customer.
    This is NOT a good idea.
