Extremely well done! I read the short novel around 15 years ago. Its amazing how it was written in 1909 and accurately predicted modern inventions and the perils of relying and putting too much trust into our system of Technologies. This movie is very well made and faithfully reflects the gist of the novel. Full respect from me!
Allen Ginsburg was a jew who embraced homosexuality, drugs, multiculturalism, et cetera, et cetera. I imagine he opposed everything that was "Not Jewish". I have no doubt that today he would embrace everything in our world: the masks, the vaccine passports, everything: as long as he could recognize the Jewish hand behind it all. If I could have one wish, it would be that all Jews would live in a single homeland - whether it is Palestine, Argentina or wherever. Let them have their country and let them live there in peace, and let them disturb humanity no longer. Let them occupy themselves with their strange visions and ideas. As long as they do not impose their ideas on the rest of us, I see no harm in it. As long as they live "by the sweat of their brow" I see no problem for anyone else. I only see a problem if Jews wish to live like Effendi and eat while the rest of us labor to feed them. It seems to me that we should be able to work out some sort of compromise.
0:21 is exactly how I would describe the out of body experience when I get sleep paralysis. That vivid yet indescribably fake vision. Only the sound of your breath and those fleeting shadows voices/sounds.
Beautiful! I recently read the original short story by E M Forster only for the second time ever. The first time I read it I was still at school, the early 1970s. Reading again so recently I had forgotten so much. It is unbelievable how Forster predicted things like the electronic video tablet and how we would end up living on top of each other as we are now. He also predicted social media and instant communication across the world as we have now and this in 1905 I believe was when he finished the story. It was first published in 1909. They only just had the radio then, the TV was almost 20 years later. Now in many parts of the world like China, Japan, South East Asia and South America people are forced to live in cubicles only 6 square metres altogether in size, and these stacked 20 or 30 floors high. It is horrible.
This was very nice, if the acting on behalf of the short hair young lady had been a bit better, I would have even said this was extremely good. You captured the essence of the story very well and while the futuristic special effects did not have to be spectacular to get the point across, the portrayal of the people needed to be spot on. Still overall job well done.
It is terrifying how science-fiction predicts our future, the original story was created in 1909, yet our lives right now is filled with technology and what’s scarier is that this is almost relatable to our current generation.
How Dare You !!! Any saviour of the Human race has to be a Woman / Non-Binary, Black and LGBTQ and mask wearer. If a Man was on the surface, he would be unmasked and r@ping or oppressing a woman If a Woman was on the surface, she would be masked, simultaneously strong & independent and a victim & oppressed. Why can't you use my correct pronouns and are obsessed with misgendering me ?
That was really good... kinda feels a lot like now!😱😬😭 We need to get out more... start breathing fresh air and less staring at screens.. oh, but then we'd never find wonderful little films like this!😅
I love the idea, and the book. But GOD DANG if this woman is not the WORST 'actor' ive ever seen anywhere ever. Jesus. She's even worse than tgat Esther girl in "the orphan" movie. Wow. Makes the overacting guy in the prison seem like an ok actor.

"There is nothing to be learned from history anymore. We're in science fiction now."
― Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997)
This is exactly the opposite meaning of the short story but okay

The Dean of Canterbury does a great reading of the story. That’s how I learned of it. Good film!
beautiful. rightfully made justice to The machine stops 📚

We had this in my English Lit class (late 80s) Revisiting this when Corona virus hits. Social distancing is a reality

Bravo. I read this years ago and radomly found this film. Too close to home, now.
The new tv show SILO clearly got its inspiration from this! 🤯🤯🤯

7:10 people's disbelief when they see people without masks and surviving without vaccines 😁

alll of the scene cuts and transitions/angles are so great! Good job to the editor and director as well !
I read this while I was in jail. Im trying to rewrite it. This story is nuts
Fanfiction is good ☺️😊
Listen to The Machine stops by Level 42 (you can find here) - nice song inspired by this novel!
Great work!

There's also a lockdown
Yes
That's how it gets you.
This is very good on the budget they had. I would love to see a bug budget version with Lana Wachowski in charge. The Matrix owes a lot to this novel.
I'm certain I saw a version of this made in the 60s
Outstanding job!!
Now this is public domain! Kick on the ad revenue.
Thanks for sharing dear !
could you tell me where I can find the scripts for this?
WOWOW THIS IS SO GOOD!!
