Of course, a President can propose anyone he wants, as long as he follows our Constitutional processes plus other checks in place. But it's also every citizen's right to stay informed about what their governments are doing. Two (2) things can be true at the same time. So, if Trump wants Wilie E. Coyote as the next Secretary of Transport or Al Capone as the new head of the DoJ, the public needs to know of his nominations. A US President is not a King.

I totally agree with You Sir.
It seems that the "convicted felon" don't even care about our Constitution or our Citizens, he only cares about himself as if he will take all the money and properties he Scamed others from when he dies.
He's capable of firing the whole Armed Forces and put all those "white supremacist racist brainless idiots" as our Armed Forces, he may even be happy to turn the USA into a province of the so called new Soviet Empire, after all it's well known that this Inmoral, Inept, Incompetent individual is Mr.Putin's personal slave.
He's proven to haven't followed his Military Advisors thinking that he knows more than anyone when he hardly have the ability to read and comprehend anything.
If he doesn't respect our Constitution he's just another dumb thug and a Traitor.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Trump thinks he is a King and the supreme court has given him almost king-like powers to do whatever he wants. Trump will circumvent the constitution and the rule-of-law to get what he wants. Trump is already telling the US Senate to go into recess, so he can appoint whom he wants without Sedate confirmation. And Trump has already mentioned a 3rd term in office. Trump will destroy American democracy and watch it burn to get what Trump wants.

@@scotts5886 Actually FACT CHECK, there are 'unofficial acts' a sitting President can do making him/her criminally liable but the SCOTUS decision has yet to be tested. BUT additional FACT CHECK the US Legislative can still Impeach a President for 'high crimes and misdemeanors'. As we can read Trump like a comic book, I'm waiting to see Trump Impeached for the 3rd time.

My compliments; even-handed and clearly briefed. On my mind is GEN George Marshall's little black book. He scored his fellow officers privately and from early in his career. In the inter-war years, not a lot of rank was available to officers. As WWII was looming, Marshall cleaned house in the army, to some extent, and advanced officers whom he trusted. Eisenhower began WWII as a lieutenant colonel, you'll recall. Hegseth's advancement feels very much like this, and it showcases Marshall's brilliance that he had an informal sense of who qualified best for higher responsibility. A warrior board is not unlike what happens in an OCS or a West Point or a Ranger School class: you rank your peers in private and this informs the command on the character of student soldiers when command isn't looking. I like very much GEN Clark's advice that Hegseth be mature in his actions. My personal assessment is that GEN Milley did not respect the president's rank and his responses to the political conflicts in DC were less military and more political than they should have been. President Trump in no way violated his office, but Milley actually did. Anyway, I expect Milley's name will be spoken in the Warrior Board, and I also wouldn't be surprised to hear them speak of Kelly and Mattis.

Excellent interview. However, two points. First, it is not true that "purging generals" doesn't work. It doesn't work in dictatorships. But it does in democracies. President Lincoln purged unsuitable generals, until he found general Grant, who won the war for him. Churchill also changed generals. So did former British Prime Ministers. Please look it up. Second point, re "drop off in military effectiveness." As General Clark surely knows, it is better to be less effective but in the right direction, than being super effective in the wrong direction. In the first case you get most of the right objective, on which you can build, while in the second case, you get all of the dead-wrong objective, which will cost you dearly to undo and fix. That's where the US & it military are finding themselves now.

@@SenorJuan2023 This is nonsense. Where are General Clark's first loyalties? To the commander in chief? Or to other generals? Besides, he himself when in command, purged failing generals reporting to him. The point he made saying purging generals doesn't work, is so nonsensical that it's better if he had said nothing on the topic. The first order of any high level management is the ability to purge failing personnel. Delicacy has no place in high command. The obvious unmentionable issue here, is that General Clark is a Democrat. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But to leave it unsaid, on top of uttering the nonsense about purging, just voided the interview of any credibility. Durning WW2 the U.S. changed ("fired") area commanders many times to advance new strategies, it worked. Lincoln went through many commanders before Grant and list goes on, it was war. Before WW2 began, Stalin and Hitler's purges of generals were based on ideology, and that's very similar to the many U.S. line commanders being fired for not complying to the current DEI policy which is an ideology.

Legislation was passed which gave minorities and women the right to some equality in the armed forces. Courts determined that homosexuality in itself is not a bar. Alexander the Great and Ceasar practiced homosexuality, though some might say this was due to long separation from women on campaign. There is historical precedent for women in the military. Famous snipers of WW II and Vietnam were women.
To purge the forces based on race, gender, and sexuality is not constitutional. Trump can decrease the numbers of homosexuals admitted by changing recruitment practices, but a general purge will result in litigation.
