Agreed and then also add Chinchilla Little Girl Gone official video and then also the Little Girl Gone (Requiem) Live (same song but so different, you gotta hear them to understand.) And there is some busking footage with Ren and Chinchilla. They do Sexual Healing and I can't remember the other song. I am not sure if you guys have seen any of Ren busking with his old band The Big Push or with his friend Sam Tompkins or alone but that is all part of the Ren journey.

Ren was misdiagnosed for 7 years… treated for things he did not have then told it was depression anxiety and bipolar- this led to stress psychosis and not being able to get out of bed 23 hours a day and damage from unnecessary treatment and untreated Lyme disease. His health waxes and wanes. When he feels good he is prolific.
He avoided using his disease as a topic in his music, because he did not want to be identified by it. Ironically Hi Ren embraced the topic and is the song he blew up on. 😂❤❤❤
'How to be me' has to be your next stop. Also with Chinchila. He has a few other duets in his back catalogue too.

I really enjoyed this reaction - regarding Ren and Chinchilla, 'How to Be Me' (the live version) but also a cover they do busking (street performance) 'One Dance/Drunk in Love' - pretty impressive. But my goodness, there's Ren and Sam Tompkins busking as well - lots to discover, and you'll wear yourself with all the laps around the sofa you'll feel impelled to do ☮
The most emotional by Ren is his newer song, Suicide.. you guys have to react to it. Hits hard right in the feels. You will cry, guaranteed

Chinchilla definitely brings something to the table with her voice. Ren has even noted her as his "musical sibling" because their thought processes and vocal choices are so similar. If you decide to do some stuff by her, her live work also very much showcases her vocal ability and her studio work is her OWN style for sure. This song with both of them is phenomenal and the fact they are both independent artists shows exactly how much talent can be withheld with major labels that just want to algorithmically decide what lyrics, sounds, and messages are going to be most appealing for the masses.
There is tremendous synergy in the performances between Chinchilla and Ren. This one, "How To Be Me", and others, all of their collaborations are straight fire.
They are both just incredible artists!! Chinchilla ranks up there with the best out there, Beyonce, Pink, Rihanna, etc... She is independent now and writes, produces, creates, her own. Ren says she is his female counterpart as they approach things the same way. So creative!! Chinchilla Finger Live is now one of my top 10 songs of all time, it is that good.

Ren does a song called Crutch - with Bibi. He wrote it before the Lyme's diagnosis when he had been in and out of hospital and had a breakdown. I'm not sure when he did the performance but it is so haunting and so many people take away different things. It's my favourite Ren and I think that says it all.

Ren loves people interpreting his music differently depending on their own experience. That being said, this song is really talking about prescription drugs (especially for depression and anxiety), and how they don't solve the actual issue and make your true personality disappear.

Ren was misdiagnosed a decade ago by doctors. He had Lime Disease, but they thought his mind was playing tricks and gave him strong drugs HABIT FORMING PSYCHOTROPICS and told him he was crazy. The Lyme disease ran amuck for 7-8 years. He is currently in Canada receiving treatment to undo all the damage done. His life was dramatically shortened by the misdiagnosis, but he is doing his best to stay in shape and recover all the stolen years past & future. Basically, it's LIKE having a broken leg and the Dr telling you it's all in your head and prescribing a bunch of super strong psychotropics for 7-8 years. I saw an interview the NHS would make fun of him for asking for more tests on his blood. They are the pig in his videos.
Ren is therapy for so many from one song he helps so many people open up in ways therapists struggle to do in person.

The studio version of this is really good too. I very rarely say both a studio and live version are equally amazing, but with these two they are.
A) pretty sure he was on blow for awhile b) habit doesn't necessarily mean drug habit, but in pushing down/escaping from reality, it CAN be any habit that distracts you from the woes of your station in life.
Ren has already publicly admitted that he’s an addict. Often goes hand in hand with people who have ADHD and other mental health issues. Compulsive thinking and behaviour.
Trying to self medicate or prescribed medications, can be drugs, sex, social media, so many things and off we go. 🎢
Probably partly why I’m so addicted to Ren!😂
@@streekee On an update he said that he had given up smoking, as part of his treatment. I suspect he would have given up on naughties too, as it would be silly to spend a fortune on treatment which may clash with, how you say, self medication!
He was given a lot anti depressants, prescription drugs lots of different types. To treat something he didn't have. That's why he developed psychosis. This song explains it perfectly ❤

I think in the song Power he talks about doing coke when he was younger. I think Greg is on point about the pushing down habits line but bad habits and addictions don't always have to be drug related.

They Are so great! They do lives in the places with good sound quality, several videos I'v seen, because they are self funded, don't have big stidio sound, but so much better this way, so real. Live "how to be me" a duet, and "Fingers live" Chinchilla alone, both will give you chills!

I just discovered Ren last weekend and could' not agree more about what you say about him. I'm so excited with what we are going to experience from Ren in the future.
What I really appreciate about him is that he has no boundaries and is a musical genius.
I live in Minneapolis and I grew up with following Prince and I think Ren has the same ability to transform the music industry. I was so fortunate to be able to see Prince many times at First Avenue and I can only imagine seeing Ren live.
I pray that he is able to get his Lymes disease better managed so he can push his talent even further, if that is possible.
Good luck with your music career and don't let the Man push you down. You are very talented, so use Ren as an inspiration and go for it.

The limes disease misdiagnosis led to them constantly trying new meds, antidepressants, anti-psychotics, etc, which not only didn't work, but actually often WORSENED his condition. And the disease was undiagnosed so long, it actually damaged the lining of his brain. He spent almost a year or more where he stayed in bed 23 out of 24 hrs a day, he was in such bad shape. He has improved somewhat since they finally discovered it, but he still isn't healed by any stretch of the imagination. Don't know if they can ever completely repair all the damage, but the treatment he has been having in Canada is helping some.

Ren references an addiction to coke at age 16 in the lyrics if Power, but Ive never seen him elaborate on that before.
He's also spoken a few times about a dependency on Diazepam (which is a different kind of addiction, but many consiser it to be an addiction nonetheless).
How to be me is also beautiful by the same pair.
Chinchilla had/has stage fright, someone recommended she make a persona to help her perform through it, she uses putting her nails on as a ritual of sorts to help her keep the confidence to perform by feeling like someone else, same with the wild outfits you'll see in her personal stuff. Fun fact she makes her own hats and costumes! I highly recommend reading into her background, it's a good insight into her humility and humanity as a performer.
❤This song gives my flashbacks of my daughtes battle with dangerous female issues during puberty. Miss diagnosed with Bipolar and shoved on one med after another till she didn’t want to live. It took 2 years for her and I to figure out it wasn't mental health but physical that caused hormone fluctuations so severe she would brake down. I cry whenever I hear this song and have to call my daughter to make sure she's ok.

Chinchilla said when she puts the nails on she gets her confidence. The nails are her "mask" that she puts on to become someone else. We all have our own version of the "confidence mask".

I believe rens mum was a drama therapist but taught music also and his dad taught a few musical instruments both independently.
He studied classical music at bath uni but became ill.

In “Power” he describes a cocaine addiction when he was 16. This line (new habit) could be alluding to that as well.
Just remember that most of Ren's videos are 1 take and done live. It took him 4 goes to complete Hi-Ren in 1 take. This dude is true artist when it comes to commitment.

REN's new song "murderer" drops Thursday!
Ren is back in the UK and today gave the RNLI £21k from the extra money people donated to help him. The RNLI is a amezing charity, Royal Naval Lifeboat Instatute. He gave it to the lifeboat dtation who helped try to find his friend Joe who comited suiside and he was never found. WELL DONE REN BEHAVING AS HE WRIGHTS, WONDERFUL.
