- Brown trout are possibly the most sought after trout in Australia, and in many other parts of the world as well.
Brown trout are deemed to be more of a sport fish due to their more cunning nature than other species of trout.
Of the two main species of trout here in Australia, the brown trout and the rainbow trout, it is the brown trout that have the longest life expectancy.
Trout do not have a long life expectancy with rainbow trout expected to live around 3-5 years and brown trout 5-7 years.
Both species of trout are very fast growing fish compared with out native Australian fish species.
I hope you like Wild brown trout on soft plastics.
Awesome video! Those Trout were beautiful! The small stream was really cool too! Looks like a fun place to fish!
A trout on a nymph, a man on a fly. love your vids
Lam Nguyen haha Thanks heaps mate.

Certainly a beautiful part of the world Robbie. Catching a fish is a bonus. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Gaz, that is a moto that I live by...catching fish is just a bonus!
What a great video Robbie. That was a great looking trout for this time of year. We are very lucky to have all that in our backyard mate. Two thumbs up and keep up the great work.
Nice vid Rob and l would watch what you eat,the greenies will be on to you for unnecessarily taking insects out of the food chain.
Cheers Tony
I love your vids, full of humour & tons of valuable tactics :)
Great video, very informative in a light hearted manner. AND Lunch on the fly to boot!!!
Chris Freeman Thanks heaps Chris. I try to keep my videos as lighthearted as possible. I likent o adopt a "never top serious" approach. I find that if you're too serious it's not fun and if fishing is not fun then what's the point in going? Thanks for watching.
0910 lovely Browny mate. Great day out. Cheers Moose
Thanks heaps Moose. :)
Love the fishing and inside scoop from nam 😁 rock on brother love the .17 marlin shout out predators are where it’s at
Your browns in Australia act just like the ones here up in Germany! What you did would 1-1 work here too. Beautiful video mate, cheers :)

Great video Robbie!
Great video again Robbie. Always been avoiding using soft plastics dunno y. But think I'm going to go and get some strike tigers for some trout.
Thanks heaps mate...Can't go wrong with soft placcies buddy, trout LOVE them, and so do redfin!
The best 17 minutes and 49 seconds of my day except for the bit were you almost died choking after eating stinging insects nearly biten by a black snake could have been attacked by a crazy wombat or a five foot lizard jumping onto your head. Keep safe out there Robbie. Thanks for video. I need a jameson after that to calm my nerves and you laugh through it all your fearless.
haha Thank you so much Vincent. I LOVE out native wildlife. Of all the creepy crawlies it was a bloody insent that brought me unstuck! haha

Man what am I doing with my life I need to fish more. I feel all caught up in this busy Melbourne life. Work, traffic, bills.
haha mate, I have work and bills but the traffic is not really an issue. Theres a small part of Melbourne that attracts me to live there, then theres an enormous part of me that would not allow it to happen!
robbiefishing, honestly mate, Melbourne is getting worse and worse. Living here does not full fill the soul like the country. Continue doing what your doing. =)
Sick vid Rob
Probably Outdoors Thanks heaps mate.
cool video Robbie
Thanks so much Ritchard.
Very nice video
G day Robbie quick question about Handling trout it appears that you spend next to no time handling your fish I thought that trout were relatively hardy fish relative to exposure to air?
Thank you for your time
Hi mate, I am not sure which part of the world you are from. Here in Australia it gets very hot, and holding a trout out of the water in the summer months will kill it in a matter of seconds.
In winter (now) it is much more forgiving to hold them up for a photo.
If you are from a cooler climate part of the world you may not have the same handling issues. Baring in mind that our summer days max out at 45 - 46 degrees in my area. Anything less than 30 degrees Celsius is considered a cool day here in summer.
I hope this answers your question mate. 👍👍
@@robbiefishing all good Sydney based
I haven't done a huge amount of trout fishing but it's normally between Oberon and Bathurst or down around Mitta Mitta
And the temps have been low like 10-15 c
I didn't consider the temp in your videos I have always associated trout with cold weather
Thank you for your time
Nice work Robbie I love your videos did you keep the rabbit and what about the wildlife Victoria must be booming with animals 😀🐟
Jayden Bonat Thanks heaps mate. I usually do keep the rabbits but this one I didn't for a few reasons. It wasn't shot as cleanly as I would have liked. and i was a little girl way.from the car on a 34 degree day and the meat would have spoiled quite quickly.
Best Vid so far
Angus Jackson WOW thankyou so much.
Good stuff Robbie. Do you eat them bunnies? That looked a beaut. Didn't know u had rock cods down in there mate. cheers.
Hey mate, thanks for your kind comment. I do love a feed of fresh rabbit. Last week I kept and ate a few. The one in this video I did not keep for a number of reasons. It was a big old back, and the shot was not as clean as I would have liked. It think it would have been badly bruised. On top of that I was a long way from my car and an eski to store the meet. On a 34 degree afternoon it was too great a risk. Usually, I love to keep a feed of rabbit.
No worries mate. good to hear. And just so you know, i couldnt GAF if you left it there or not lol. They are tasty when cooked right but he was a big bugger. cheers mate.
i really like your videos. 2 questions: do you modify your barbs on the lure for easier catch and release?
and 2) I live in the US and want to know how universally applicable your trout tips are!
Hey this is pretty late obviously lol but I’ve read that the trout here act very similar elsewhere in the world. I doubt there would be a huge difference between the two. Happy fishing! :)
Frog lures seems the way to go!
Awesome fishing,Was you shooting a 17 or 20 caliber
Jerry DeWees Hey mate I was using a 17HMR. Love it!
Hey robbie, what do you normally do with the rabbits you shoot? Nice vid mate BTW
Thanks heaps mate. I discared this one into the bush for a few reasons, but where possible I like to keep them either for a feed, for yabbie bait or for my dog. I LOVE a feed of fresh rabbit!
Were are you fishing??
you should try a rapala countdown 5g brown trout patern they work great 😉
And a very nice gun 👍
Does that happen to be an okuma force?
gesman5000 Nah mate. It is a Shimano Stradic reel paired up with a Wildbait Rod.
