You've got my lens! Only mine is in the Exacta mount. Didn't realise is was made of brass, thought it was aluminium. I use it in my a7rii and it produces a really nice look. Mine has a 'ding' in the filter ring so picked it up for around $50.
Dinged filter threads once spelled doom for a lens but not for me. I have a couple like that and they produce beautiful results so I don’t swear that anymore. You did good with that. 👍📸
Watching you many years and seen more then 1000 vintage lenses I think you have used in your videos. How many of the vintage lenses does you have or still owned? Is this lenses become expensive or difficult to get?
I probably have 30 or 40 at this time, I normally will sell some then slowly buy more over time till the shelves are full again at which time I will start selling them again. it is a cycle with me, This particular lens belongs to a friend and I just borrowed it for a few weeks to do the review of it.
Adapting old lenses to modern cameras is a lot of fun. I’d like to get Leica and Zeiss lenses to use on my Nikons. Also, what is the building at 3:56? Is it in Chattanooga?
David Simon utak did a review of the 58mm biotar versus the Helios 55. It looks like the Russians copied the Zies when they took over the factory in World War 11 for the Helios lens
Nice looking lens. I’m a sucker for older lenses.
You know me and you both are. Haha. 😂🤷🏻♂️
Great review David. That shot at 3:57 the colors are just amazing. Really pops out the screen at ya. Thanks for sharing the video enjoyed watching 🙏👍
Thank you!!! I was buried in work yesterday so I am going to go see what you put up today. 👍📸
So you're saying that... Zeiss matters? 😘💕 Jokes aside, I love these old gems you're picking up.
How many aperture blades in that version? Great explanation of the stop down ring functionality.
I am not 100% certain, but I think it was 10 blades on the aperture. There was a lot of them. Thank you! 👍📸
That is a beautiful lens, David! Wow!
I really need to find a copy for myself as I really liked how it looked.
Thanks for helping me sort out the “Mystery ring”!
Your welcome!

That is the old courthouse in Trenton Georgia. It is one of those that is in the middle of the road. They only stopped using it about 10 years ago.
@@davidsaylors thanks David. It’s a nice looking building, hope it’s still being used by someone.

I am pretty sure that is exactly what happened. The Helios lenses are all pretty much copies of Zeiss glass.
