Fascinating to see the second beauty ring applied to get around the export issues and in-fighting between C.Z. Jena and Carl Zeiss in W.Germany. Makes the history of the lens come alive. Nice work 👍
Mine is an Exacta mount also but doesn't have the cocking lever. I didn't realise that the front ring could move in and out to lock the aperture until another RUclipsr mentioned it and what it was for! Mine also has a 'ding' in the front of the lens which was why I was able to buy it at a reasonable price. I have one of those screw clamp tools from eBay but it seems to be difficult to push it out. Is that what you used on yours? Would like to be able to use a lens hood as we do get sun here in Ireland. Occasionally.🤨 I use it on my a7rii and think its qualities would make a great portrait lens. Soft, but subtle.
@johndwilliams those screw expanding tools work, but you have to be careful not to go too far or to egg shape the front ring. Some dents can be hard to iron out.
Lovely lens ♥ looks similar if not slightly larger than my Jupiter 9 85mm f2 from early 60's in M39 mount. The Jupiter 9 and Helios 44-2 are my go to if i want that lovely vintage look they render so nicely
Somewhere in me house I have my grandfathers Contax color dial with a Zeiss 50. Found out I can adapt to my mirrorless camera. I need to find that camera!
I have that same Contax. Mine's a iia color dial. I have four lenses. Get your's out and gice it a spin. Check out directions on line or a owners manual.
I found the camera and the lens is great. Adapter is ordered and has arrived at the PO in Edmond. I will give it a go while shooting a wedding on Friday.

@photographyforenjoyment thank you!
Lovely smooth backgrounds, it looks like a nice lens to play with. Would be great for portraits on M43 too.
@deangawler9727 I agree! I'm not much into portraiture, but I might have to give that a try!

@@ijlo-b the Jupiter and Helios lenses are both excellent at rendering classic vintage images. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I also have the Helios 44 with was recently used at photograph a few bands at Cain’s Ballroom
@tompurvis1261 Sounds like you have some interesting glass. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@ I do. Looking for that missing camera now while watching the Thunder.
Found it.

Love the history. I don't think Reilly is interested in photography. He wasn't listening.
@@tedphillips2951 Riley is much more interested in other dogs and other critters he can chase.
