I NOTICE HOW PEOPLE GET UPSET. WHAT ARE YOU ANGRY AT? NO YOU PROBABLY DIDN'T BUT YOUR ANCESTORS MAYBE DID. AND THE BS IS STILL HAPPENING. AGAIN: READ, READ, READ YOUR HISTORY!
I’m sorry 150 years ago? Not trying to come off as agressive but Jim Crow laws ended in 1964-65 rather than 150 years ago. People have grandparents who were alive during such times and still are today. But the main issue is that you hear only what you want to hear and nothing else. The issue is not simply what happened years ago, but rather what is still happening today. I don’t understand why people can’t just have empathy for a group of people that has faced so much throughout history rather than getting angry when they ask for justice.
Deborah McEntire My ancestors fought for the Union to free the slaves. 100 years before that my ancestors were traded into the Barbary Slave Trade. 100 years before that, the East African Slave Trade. My history tells me that my ancestors have done nothing but good for African Americans and they themselves were oppressed. Just as they, I stand in solidarity with all Americans who fight for AMERICA. No matter their race, religion, or creed. Don’t be so quick to judge someone just because of the color of their skin.
Favor Owonifaari I have empathy for individuals. Not groups. Black Americans are not a monolith. White Americans are not a monolith. I treat each individual with the respect they deserve. They earn that respect not because of their skin color, but because of the content of their character.
Anakin Skywalker I understand that your ancestors have also faced oppression, however I’m not sure how that means that they have done good for African Americans. Africans we’re forcefully taken from their country to work as slaves in the US, and even after slavery was abolished, the Jim Crow laws existed, and after those were abolished, their still continues to be unfair treatment of African Americans in the US. I’m not sure how I have in any way judged you by the colour of your skin. I simply replied to a comment that was made that I strongly disagree with. The matter that people are protesting is the injustices of today that stems from a past hatred of African Americans. And I have not said that you, the individual, do not treat African Americans with respect and empathy. I am saying that as a whole, African Americans are mistreated in the US, and people would like change. I get that you are not obligated to respect someone just because of their skin tone, but that also means that the black community should not be disrespected and mistreated because of their skin tone, which is the issue that is being conveyed here. Also I appreciate that I can have a civil conversation about this issue whether we disagree or not because it’s important for both of us to hear the other’s side of the story :)

Your absolutely right & that's my problem with us we can get away with a lot actually.. but when I was younger (5TH GRADE) my friends (different races) would call it out fast, FAST!!
I had the pleasure of meeting and working with a young gentleman who came here from Kenya. He was a member of the coast guard reserve and was also working his way through college. I noticed one day he was looking in disgust at a couple of guys complaining about how bad life is here for black Americans. I pulled him aside and asked him what did he think of the way black people perceive how they are treated here. He said these people don't know how lucky they are or how good they have it here.
@@michaelmccandless1280 Statistics are statistics, it is quite possible that the guy from Kenya was raised with a father who instilled actual values in him, while the 2 talking about how bad it was either had fathers who instilled in them how difficult it was to be black (particularly a black man) in America, grew up watching television which constantly reinforced that idea, or possibly had single mothers/fathers or even both parents, struggling to make a living to raise them. Most black people in African (and really any other country) are family/community oriented. Most black families in America are self oriented (imma get mine, don't come to me for help, imma do me and you do you). There are 3 places where that community mindset comes in to play most often in the lives of black people, church, gangs, and jail.

As I see it, it’s not a matter of when it happened, but what this person has done, and the lasting effect it has had on communities today. No one has said to erase it from history books, we simply ask that you do not celebrate these people through the creation of statues as it is a slap in the face to communities that have been negatively affected. It’s not as though people are simply angry about a “single thing” that was done several years ago. It’s about the lasting effect that it has had on communities today. The same way to this day colonisation is looked down upon although it happened years ago, because of the effect that it has had on certain communities.

People who you think are living their dreams. Who couldn't possibly have a better life. Are broken inside so badly to the point the end their own life. We need Him. We need God.

It is important to remember than when he and others like him say "the people", he only means black people.

I pulled him aside and asked him what did he think of the way black people perceive how they are treated here. He said these people don't know how lucky they are or how good they have it here.

@@michaelmccandless1280
Statistics are statistics, it is quite possible that the guy from Kenya was raised with a father who instilled actual values in him, while the 2 talking about how bad it was either had fathers who instilled in them how difficult it was to be black (particularly a black man) in America, grew up watching television which constantly reinforced that idea, or possibly had single mothers/fathers or even both parents, struggling to make a living to raise them.
Most black people in African (and really any other country) are family/community oriented. Most black families in America are self oriented (imma get mine, don't come to me for help, imma do me and you do you). There are 3 places where that community mindset comes in to play most often in the lives of black people, church, gangs, and jail.
