  • I completed 5 services on this 2010 RZR 800S all at one time. Oil Change, Transmission Service, Transfer Case Service, Front and Rear Differential Service. Some of the drain and fill ports are a bitch to get to. Take your time and have patience. All in all it took about 2 - 2.5 Hrs to complete.
As always leave any questions you may have in the comments.
    Thanks for watching!

My 2008 has the transfer drain on the bottom and the plug you are referencing is actually the fill level indicator.

Steve is correct, now you have too much oil in the transfer case!

Good video showing the hidden drain/fill for the transfer /transmission cases.

Hi Mike, My 800LE is a 2013. You made reference to the transfer case being empty when the drain plug was removed. The drain plug you referenced is actually the level hole, ie; the fluid runs out of it when it's topped up. The actual drain plug is on the underside. A bit confusing. Fill hole, level hole, and drain hole in under.
    Cheers!

Transfer case has 3 plugs. Bottom drain. lower small plug is fill level. Top hole is fill hole. You overfilled it.

You didn't drain the transfer case and likely over filled it if you took it to the level of the fill port. The plug you removed from the transfer case that you called a drain plug is the level plug. There is a plug on the very bottom of the transfer case that takes a small hex wrench to remove. That is where you drain the transfer case. The other small plug that takes a 13mm or 1/2 inch wrench is the level plug. After you reinstall the drain plug you use the 1/2 inch plug to determine the fill level. If you fill to the level of the fill port you have over filled the transfer case. Good video but inaccurate information on the transfer case. Also it's best to remove the skid plate and clean up the bottom of the RZR.

Don't use brake clean. It will melt the plastic. Use carb clean, it is safe for plastic. Great video, except for the brake clean. Food for thought for next time.

That front Demand Drive Differential should be a Hilliard , I always use Mobil 424 Fluid because that is what Hilly fills them up with before they go to Polaris for assembly , never had failure with Mobil !! J.M.O. !! 🙂

I noticed that error as well. The transfer case has three ports. top to fill, middle to weep when full and bottom to drain. Now someone tell me why the top fill port is even there. I can't fill it past the middle (check) hole so why not pump it in there. Makes no sense.

A further note on this. The "check" port.. the one in the middle is a pain to remove and even worse to replace. If you are just checking level.. you have no choice but remove it. The easy way is just replace the fluid. Drain it out the bottom and refill from the top with a measured 14 oz. Leave that pesky level plug untouched.

Two years later 800 still going strong. Anyone come up with a better way to get that transfer check plug back in? It is trouble. Most of the time I just drain and refill and leave the check plug alone.

Well isn't that special. The one I'm having trouble with is the front. And you skipped it. Different sized plug, 8mm I think, cause I'm not sure where the plug is.

Is it same oil on differential? Transfer case? and transmission?

No gear oils are different. Go to Amesoil and search your make and model and it will give you the fluid specs and types.
