15 Marvel Hidden References In Black Widow

- Marvel loves providing their fans with plenty of easter eggs, especially ones that relate to other MCU films.
How many hidden references to other Marvel movies and characters did you catch in the MCU film Black Widow? The references in this movie starring Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff and Florence Pugh as Yelena Bolova vary from fighting moves and poses to some of the most memorable lines from within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Taskmaster is undeniably impressive - they mimic the fighting skills of loads of our favorite Marvel characters like Hawkeye, Black Panther, Captain America and Black Widow herself. Yelen may be new to the MCU, but she pulls out some of Bucky Barnes’ tricks when she is battling in Black Widow! One particular place we see in this film has been mentioned before - when did we last hear about the safe house in Budapest? This line brought back an incredible Black Widow moment from The Avengers film, this might just be the new catch phrase for the Marvel character! For any Ant-Man fans, be aware that Scott Lang may just have been forgotten - again!
Natasha Romanoff’s landing poses are pretty signature to the character - but that doesn’t mean they’re above being teased! Yelena Bolova tried her fair share of moves, only to make fun of them. There is one familiar pose from Melina that connects to both Captain America: The Winter Soldier and a moment in Avengers: Endgame.
Anyone else still tear up when you think of Peter Parker’s final line as he comes to his end? A subtle nod is made to it early on in the Black Widow movie! Black Widow movie is most related to Captain America The Winter Soldier. Two of my favorite Marvel movies. Scarlett's performances are amazing.

Yeah, biggest issue with BW was the fact on how similar Taskmaster is to the Winter Soldier. Both of them are the enforcer for someone who isn’t a fighter and is running everything from behind the scene. Both of them kick the heroes butt. Both of them blow up cars. Both of them are supposed to be dead. Very similar.

Nat's fate in Endgame and the sad reality that Scarlett Johansson's time in the MCU is now up, it's a story defined by hope, resilience and redemption, so it's surprisingly forward-looking.

One thing that hasn’t been confirmed is whether Yelena was affected by Thanos snap in Infinity War. There was no mention of it in the post-credits scene, and Valentina was pretty vague about Clint, since no one knows what really happened on Vormir except Clint
Clint did tell all the other Avengers that returned from the time heist...but Thor's doing Thor stuff, Tony died, Steve 'retired', Bruce as usual is MIA (until She-Hulk). l so yeah. She's gonna try and kill him.
Clint's "trust me she sacrificed herself for everyone else. I totally tried to stop her and didn't kill her." Is probably not going to fly with the formerly mind contoled assassin.
I think she was. Because aside from not looking older, its easier to make her blip than to fill in the plotholes of where she was and what she was doing at the events of endgame.
Kevin Feige said that we will know what had happened in the upcoming Hawkeye series, so we'll find out by then

Ok now with the hawkeye series that plot hole has been filled, basically she was affected. She was going to save another black widow from the chip but, plot-twist she already dealt with the chip and is fine, then after they figure that out they have some tea, talk, Helena goes to the bathroom bam the blip she disintegrates then is integrated once again gets out of the bathroom to the surprise that her friend has a family and that everything changed, she is shocked, but now is going to kill Hawkeye with a little bit more spice as she believes Hawkeye killed her sister and welp, that is it. I won’t say what happens next though this is enough of a spoiler
One of the references I was happy I noticed was the quinjet at the end. Nobody's ever thought of how team cap appeared in infinity wars with a quinjet because I mean they were fugitives. But in black widow we see how that happens 😁😁. Give me a thumbs up if you agree

Also "ledger is gushing red" which is something loki says to natasha during the interrogation and later alexei says the same when he praises them in St.petersburg
She also says to Hawkeye - "I've got red in my ledger, I'd like to wipe it out"
Since Captain America secretly went back in time and lived with the love of his life and was around during the time he was supposed to be frozen in the Artic sea he could have fought the Red Guardian on a mission in 1984.
I find it interesting that there was another reason behind Black Widow's appearance in "Avengers: Infinity War" besides going into hiding with Captain America and his Avengers faction.
What was the other reason? I actually would like to know. I like the MCU but I’m not in depth as the rest of you and like to know…. Please and thank you (respectfully)

Funny side note: Yelena Belova (not Florence Pugh's version) was the original Black Widow and in order for Natasha to take her place as the Black Widow she had to kill her.

@@ashleyrothenburger2285 I can't really remember the original origin comics title but there have been quite a few references to a Yelena Belova as a previous Widow who worked with HYDRA after graduation. Popular theory is that she is a dead as that is what is insinuated every time she is listed in a comic and always in relation to Natasha. There are websites that list character backstories for those who jump in at more current comic like the Miles Morales comics where you may be thinking that it is odd that its a 13 year old black kid named Miles when everyone knows Spiderman is a 16-24 year old (depends on the comic) High School/College student/Scientist. The website also lists the comics and issues the character is seen in even if only just a frame rather than as a main the website is called comicvine and is written by fans (nerds like me) and people dedicated to the comics they read.

Amazing how Marvel even allows their own character's to assume another's mantle, even if for a brief moment like the Councilwoman, Yelena's vest, or the nano-mask. It's a nice parallel to Yelena and Widow using each other's identity in the comics.
I'll always love Widow's suit in Infinity War not only because it resonates with Widow on the run. But as well for it's subtle introduction that Natasha was under the guise of another cover, Yelena.
There is also another reference to the movie " The Avengers "
When she has to convince Yelena to help her destroy the Red Room, she pronounces the phrase "it will be fun". The same phrase he had used in "The Avengers " when he has to be helped by Cap to reach one of the flying means of the aliens to get to the portal above the tower of the Avengers.
You will say "OK but it’s just a joke", but it is used in the same way that is to describe an action more dangerous than funny.
The winter soldier TRAINED those in the Red Room when Natasha was in it so yeah of course any Widow will know those moves

I feel like any time someone repeats like a common word or phrase from an earlier part of a story line that has absolutely no relation whatsoever, people shove the introductive fact that its an easter egg down your throat.

Also, it wasn't just the arrow that was mimicking Hawkeye, but also the way it was shot under the car to explode that mimicked the Winter Soldier when he blew up Fury's car.
The woman that hands over the ipad (with the photo of barton) is also in the falcon and the winter soldier, i think. She is (i think) that person that made John a agent in the end. This is just something I think is true, dont take rhis to serious

One thing great about this movie is really Yelena...but i am a little disappointed this feels like an isolated side quest that doesnt do anything bigger in context. For example Captain America Winter Soldier was about Hydra taking over SHIELD and how that turn out to weaken earth against Thanos.
If General Dreykov even name drop Hydra or names like AIM and had some of his activities linked to major occurence in the mcu or real world that be great.
It feels like a nice chapter side quest. But i had hoped it were more :(.....shit hawkeye gonna be like this too.

So we all know how when they showed Thanos, daughter, in the movie what we also see is blood stans that sank in so we know that took place in 2014 and they went back to 2012 so that means there were other people who tried to retrieve the stones but wasn't as accomplished as Thanos so here is another reason why I think black widow isn't dead because caption America went back to return the stones and also he could have saved her and we all know how black widow power work she can change into anyone like the aliens in caption marvel so what if he told her to lay low so she changed into someone else also she probably did what fury did she went to pay her respect when no one was around just so she won't blow her cover therefor I think she is still alive.

I agree...the movie felt more like a vehicle to establish the Yelena character than a proper homage to Black Widow. Also, they felt to give BW a catharsis insofar as being the one to takedown Dreykov considering ALL that he had done to Natasha. I would have liked to see a scene where Natasha searched for Yelena and Melina and Red Guardian after Infinity War only to find that they've been dusted. It would have added another element to Nat's sacrifice in Vormir.
