I remember in 2014 walking around the hangar, looking at my fish tank in 15 fps and thinking, WOW. Soon those doors are going to open and I'm gonna fly out there. Now, in 2024 and I'm thinking, WOW. Soon I get to go into my hangar and look at my fish tank. Jokes aside, it's been long and sometimes frustrating but they really are moving the bar, this game feels like nothing else. It's a properly grand vision and I think it's going to be worth the wait.
I follow the progress more than I play, but I am very happy for the backers that 3.23 will finally be the content dump people have been hoping for. 2024 will be a huge turning point for the game, and how it is perceived.
Obviously it’s different now compared to then but I find it funny how I’m excited about them essentially re-adding something. Haven’t seen any signs of the good old arena commander pod tho.
@@QuotidianStupidityEven though it obviously still won’t be close to launch, after 2024 it can be considered a presentable game. I enjoy it as it is rn despite of flaws but I’m still so hyped for this shit.
I agree it’s definitely nothing that’s been done before. And that’s why I do t get all the hate it gets from people. When they say “just release it it’s been sooo lonnggg”. They don’t realize it’s actually two games and they had to make their own engine. I do understand the hate towards the buyable ships with real money and how much they cost. But other than that this game is doing things no one has attempted.
Haha this is literally what I was thinking about ... finally being able to hang my UEE towel back up, set up my fish tank and ship models... jump in the AC virtual reality pod.....oh wait no that ones gone :-P
I backed in January 2014 and started my SC journey in the Original Hangar Module and have been a part of every new subsequent update. I am proud to say "I Answered the Call" and "Held the Line." Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane. Its nice to be reminded just how far we have come.
I backed in late 2013 and it's so cool to see the production process and how the game design has had to change over time. Really enjoying the Overdrive missions going on right now.
This really puts into perspective how far CIG has come. I remember backing in 2014 and man, it already blew my mind back then. yes, it's still alpha, its not finished and there's still a myriad of bugs and issues.. but man, its been quite the journey so far. Looking forward to the years to come.
Well this takes me back, completely forgot spawning my cutless into a hanger to look at it or that when I use to wear a helmet u'd actually see the edges (some better visibility than others). Thanks for putting these together made me remember bits I'd forgotten.
I started in 2013 as one of the first people who supported the game. I love it until today and I am so excited for 3.23 and 4.0. This game will one day be the most amazing game by a long shot. I believe in it, like I believed all these years. I was just 15 in 2013 and now I have a wife, a job and a house. Man times change.
Paid in 2016, got into game at 3.0. Stepping up to the landing pad for the first time at Olisar and seeing Crusader behind the rings was a literal jaw drop experience. There have been good and bad times since then. Been a fun ride. I wish they had tried to improve hovermode after 3.6 instead of just tossing it in the trash. With a few stabilizing tweaks to the handling it would have been great. Tilt ship to side, it should drift like a helicopter. However unlike a helicopter we have mavs on the sides that should be able to stop the drift. In coupled mode, you tilt and drift slightly but then you stabilize. In uncoupled mode you would just keep drifting unless you apply counter thrust. But nah, we still have floating turret ships. Before 3.15 I remember just running into random people doing box missions and figuring out something interesting we wanted to do, like finding the wall at the texture map seam on Delemar. After 3.15 it became KOS. Now it is even worse since you cannot even buy all the armor and weapons, you have to now search random loot boxes until you can find the stuff you want. This is an MMORPG, we want our characters to be our style. That is a huge thing for RPGs. We lost whatever we had in our hands before 3.15 and we obviously respawned way far away from where we died, so still have a timesink penalty for death. I guess my character style is forever white noob suit in this game. Shame that most times your body is inside a planet or rock at the bottom of a bunker elevator shaft, so you cannot go and loot yourself. There is a reason games like Tarkov have a much lower player count than CoD/Fortnite. People like to customize their avatar and not have to change it each time they die in game.
Can you believe the game is this hardcore, which already turns off a the vast majority of people, and there are still idiots who desperately champion death of a spaceman, the single dumbest concept I’ve ever heard. Absolutely ridiculous. Hopefully 3.23 let’s us use our armor again.
I cannot believe how much time I spent in the original hanger module when all I could do was walk around inside my ship. It was just an Aurora back then so it wasn't a long tour.

I wish I knew what the bloody hell was going on 99% of the time in this game. I can't pull off half the shit I see other players do in their ships while flying. I don't understand how targeting works. I never know what's up with my ship, power, weapons, shields, etc... I hit every bug known to man while playing and practically nothing works right. I have no idea why I still support this game. But I do lol. I love following every bit of the progress CIG shares with us on the development of the game.
