I very much want to dive into the blackest heart after finishing the forgetting moon-but I’m holding off for red country. The covers are so beautiful and it’s cool to hear the references of them throughout the books
GREAT tbr :) I might join ya in “All the Fiends”. Looks awesome. I’m a huuuge Alien fan, so you piqued my interest with that one. Have a great trip, man!
Will be interested to see what you make of The Phoenix Keeper, that cover catches my eye every time I see it. Guess I shouldn't be surprised it was a romantasy all this time. Fevre Dream is a very atmospheric book, very different from anything GRRM didn't in ASOIAF, hope you get to it!
The Last Murder At The End Of The World recently crept onto my tbr. Have you read any of his other books? Definitely want to try and squeeze a spooky read in next month. Was thinking either Carrie or Misery, but Between Two Fires has me intruged also.
Oooh very curious to hear your thoughts on The Phoenix Keeper, hope that doesn't unintentionally turn into a horror read for you 🤣I have read the first few chapters and immediately loved the vibe, really need to commit to finishing it! Also, I think you might have tried some romantasy already with Aurelian Cycle, that definitely has some strong romance elements, right? Anyway, enjoy!
My first romantasy is going to be Hills of Heather and Bone. Not exactly sure when I'll get to it, hopefully early next year. I really want to find the books in that genre that aren't just about the spice as I am a fan of fading to black beyond a certain point. I don't tend to let trends affect my TBR. Right now I'm really trying to wrap up a few series before the end of the year so I can fell good going into Jannyuary, which will be my first attempt to read something at the same time as others. Maybe next year if I can maintain a more responsible TBR, I'll hop onto trends like picking out a spooky book.
Yesterday I finished a romance with fantasy elements (werewolves). The main characters are physically built like you. The story, although it has bad parts (like any book), is hilarious. The book is called Bro and the beast by L.C. Davis.. The month of October is busy with Iron Gold by Pierce Brown, Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston, Game Changer by Alley Ciz and I will start Panther by Nelson DeMille if I have time..
@@TomOrange I was scared when I read what was written on the back of the cover. I thought it would be the same as the first trilogy. For the moment it is better than the first 3 books in the series.
Currently I am reading «Lustrum» (Cicero Trilogy #2) by Robert Harris (Historical Fiction about the Roman Politician Cicero): I have said before that I am mood-reading this Autumn, but my tentative October TBR List is: «Midnight Falcon» (Rigante #2) by David Gemmell (Heroic Fantasy/S&S) «Leviathan Falls» (The Expanse, #9) by James S.A. Corey (Space opera, pushed back from this month’s TBR) «The Land Leviathan» (A Nomad of the Time Streams» Trilogy #2) by Michael Moorcock (Multiverse/Alternative History/Time Travel Steampunk(?)😅) «The City» (City of Victory Trilogy #2) by Adrian Goldsworthy (Historical Military Fiction set during Emperor Trajan’s Campaigns) My October MBR List/November TBR List: «After Rome» by Morgan Llywelyn (Historical Fiction set in Post-Roman Britain) «Kings of the Wyld» by Nicholas Eames (Fantasy Humor) «Dreaming the Eagle» («Boudica» #1) by Manda Scott (Historical Fiction about the Celtic British Queen and her Rebellion against the Romans) «The Children of Gods & Fighting Men» by Shauna Lawless (Historical Fantasy set in Ireland during the Viking Age) «The Fury of the Gods» («Bloodsworn Saga» Trilogy #3) by John Gwynne (Epic Fantasy inspired by Norse Myth) «The Steel Tsar» («A Nomad of the Time Streams» Trilogy #3) by Michael Moorcock (Multiverse/Alternative History/Time Travel Steampunk(?)😅) «The Wall» (City of Victory Trilogy #3) by Adrian Goldsworthy (Historical Military Fiction set during Emperor Trajan’s Campaigns) Cheers!😃
Well Halloween is coming so I am reading a bunch of horror stuffs. Paradise lost, wars of the world, world war Z and pet cemetery. So a little bit of everything haha
Some great suggestions, Tom. However, after your review of "The Troop" and after I read about what went on that little island, I may stay away from "The Deep"! LOL I do have a question for you, since I'm a new booktuber: how do you read multiple books at once? Do you read one in a week and then go onto the next one, or do you read multiple books simultaneously. Oh....and I, too, struggle with saying APOCALYPTIC (especially when I'm filming myself! LOL)
I would not blame you from staying away lol. I normally read one book at a time. If i have a physical book and an audio book I can do those at the same time but its normally all in on one book then onto the next one.
Hell yeah, I just started the deep two nights ago! Hope you enjoy it brother 🙏🏼
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it as well
Gonna check out a few of these, excited to see what you think!
Good to hear!
Forgetting Moon is a solid entry into spooky season 🙌🏻
I'm finishing Nevill's Cunning Folk this month.
I wish I owned The Deep 🤔
Maybe the library??
@@TomOrange I haven't tried audiobooks at the library yet 🤔
I hope the phoenix keeper is good, I really wanna read this later this year. :) Happy reading in October, hope you enjoy the spooky picks!
Happy reading!
If you get to Starship Troops, definitely make a mention of it in the future! I'd love to get to that one at some point, too.
I for sure will!
King has a million short story collections with a ton of great stories, maybe just sneak some short stories in during spooky season.
I have thought about reading his new collection since it has a sequel to cujo.
I very much want to dive into the blackest heart after finishing the forgetting moon-but I’m holding off for red country.
The covers are so beautiful and it’s cool to hear the references of them throughout the books
So far I may just have to instantly jump into the blackest heart
@@TomOrange noted-I’ll be following along
I've heard great things about Blood Music. It's on my scifi November TBL.
thats good to hear!
GREAT tbr :) I might join ya in “All the Fiends”. Looks awesome. I’m a huuuge Alien fan, so you piqued my interest with that one.
Have a great trip, man!
Thanks Alex hope you are doing well! Let me know if you end up reading it
I spent many years saying "I don't like romance." and just generally being very closed minded about it, now it's one of my favorite genres. 😂
We will see if I turn into a fan
Happy spooky month 👻 ❤
Same to you!
I hope you enjoy your vacation. Sounds like a good book list. I’m not sure I’m up for horror at the moment. I’m starting The Farseer Trilogy now.
Thanks! I hope you enjoy that. I think I I may start that in 2025
The Shattered Soul series has a non-saucy romance undertone that I find so refreshing and the premise is really fun.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Currently reading All the Fiends of Hell atm, and I'm really enjoying it thus far
Glad to hear that!

Fevre Dream is a very atmospheric book, very different from anything GRRM didn't in ASOIAF, hope you get to it!
The cover is what caught my eye at first. Then figured why not give it a try
The Last Murder At The End Of The World recently crept onto my tbr. Have you read any of his other books?
Definitely want to try and squeeze a spooky read in next month. Was thinking either Carrie or Misery, but Between Two Fires has me intruged also.
I have not read anything else by them
Great plans Tom! I’ve only read Cunning Folk by Adam Nevill, but I really enjoyed it. I’m reading the shining in October. 😁
Looking forward to what you think. I’m assuming you’ve seen the movie?
@@TomOrange no I haven’t actually lol. I’ll be watching that in October too.
This is prompting a Starship Troopers reread 😜
Its been in my maybes for a few months now.
@@TomOrange I went looking and found a new audiobook out in 5 days narrated by R.C. BRAY!
Awesome stuff, Tom!
Empire of Salt (Darien) is a really unique series. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you end up picking it up!
Hopefully this month I’ll start it.

I guess you could count the Aurelian cycle but I felt like the romance was a pretty small focus that it dosent fit into romantasy
@@TomOrange very true, I guess my perception of that series has been a bit skewed by the booktok girlies adopting it as tragic romantasy hahah

Woooo Darien!!!!
Hopefully this month
Really interested in your take on the deep

I love romantasy but I can’t read it all the time. The fiends of hell is definitely on my list!!
I’m interested to try it out
Just began The Terror by Dan Simmons as my horror read for October, definitely different than my usual but so far its got great atmosphere

Thats a heck of a tbr for October! What did you think of Tiamat's Warth? Its one of my favorite books.
I recommend joe abercrombie and john gwynne ❤
I have read Bloodsworn
@@TomOrange that's awesome.Can't wait for Fury of the gods ! :)
Funny, I'm about 150 pages into All the Fiends of Hell..I dig it so far..it's like 28 Days Later with aliens
I like to hear that!
I go to the Telluride Horror Fest in October and horror becomes the norm in October but I have something horror every month 🎃
That sounds like a lot of fun!
Ooo romantasy... there are good ones but most are formulaic. I love The Black Dagger Brotherhood for the urban element but it is saucy.
Its my first one so we will see

I still haven't been to the Grand Canyon and I'm both a Rock Hound and a Coloradan 🤦♀️
The Grand Canyon is probably the coolest thing Ive ever seen in my life.

I like romantasy but I'm picky 😂. The straight ones aren't for me. I primarily read Sapphic and gay books
I believe this was listed as lgbt but I’m not sure if that’s the romance or other elements of the book
