I appreciate the step by step visuals without much talking. I’ve been restoring old film gear for 30+ years and often find myself sitting through videos with loads of dialogue and video that jumps ahead too much, leaving questions. Videos like this are beneficial to to anyone new to working on these wonderful machines. It’s a beauty. Nicely done sir!
I just sent one of these off for service today. It used to belong to my grandma, and I think she was able to take a few trips with it to her happy place, in the mountains in Colorado
Absolutely stunning image quality and attention to detail. I got a near-mint AE-1 Program yesterday and stumbled across your video today and proceeded to add it to my saved playlist. Will definitely come in handy down the line if something ever comes up with my unit. Big thanks for your work 🥰
... another awesomely made video ... I am completely happy to see your repair videos ... I too was once a camera technician ... I am old now and I still repair, but it takes longer, I have to really steady my hands when I micro solder, but I still find it a fun thing to do ... thank you for sharing your skills ...
Really good. I wish I had a tenth of your dexterity. While I could do very well on my own with dismantling, it is in reassembling that I would never succeed. I would like to see from you the catering or even the simplest maintenance of an Olympus OM-1
❤👏📸 I have the same camera. I bought it second hand. Actively filmed 1989-1994. Nostalgia. The last time I picked it up was in 2007. She worked. Now it's sitting in a drawer unused. Thanks a lot.
Well, the AE-1 was by no means a "King". And for a reason, Nikon was since decades the true King of 35mm photography. Canon had a great Film SLR with the New F1. The AE-1 was some cheap 35mm SLR for the masses, nothing more, nothing less. It couldn't compete with the Minolta XD7, and also not with an FM(2) Nikon.
Absolutely correct, but to put the tin cap on it, Nikon invented the SLR as we know it today. Before the Nikon F there were range-finders. Canon makes nice printers, I’ll stick to my Nikon cameras.
Thank you. Are you familiar with Pentax MX? I bought it recently, it's functional and i "fixed" the light meter by cleaning the battery cap from oxidation. However the mirror inside looks a bit dirty, do you think it's ok to wipe it out the same way you did with this canon? It's weird because it does not look like black smudge but more like a pigeon poo.
Sorry, I don’t remember how to disassemble that part. Just take photos every time you remove the main parts and mark the location, position of the parts, adjustment screws where you think necessary and you will be fine.
This is amazing work! So happy I stumbled across your channel, do you possibly have a website or offer this as a service? I have two vintage cameras that I’ve been dying to get restored but do not have the time nor knowledge!
Please help! First of all great video, you made it like new! I tried to open the bottom and lubricate it because it squeaks but I encountered a different problem. I found a small black o-ring that I do not know from where it came off and I would like some assist. Thank you in advance 🙏 Edit: I found out it was from my screwdriver. Phew! I couldn't find where to put oil though
If you get the squeaky sound during cocking and releasing shutter it is because of gears on the side of the mirror box(not the circuit side). Check out 4:40
By reading service manuals. There is canon ae-1 service manual pdf available on some website. Even though Ae-1 and Ae-1 program are a little bit difference in internal circuit, ae-1 service manual really help me a lot.

Cramming all that electronics into the camera body is amazing

Congrats on finding and AE-1 without the squeak.
I love your videos and it's great to see these old cameras getting fixed up!

Take care of your things and your things will take care of you.
Great job! I was thinking of opening mine to clean it but I think I'd better not do it.
Amazing work!
Thanks for sharing.
Mesmerizing
impressive work!
I got one of these used. No problems whatsoever.

This is the most sold SLR Camera ever.
Amazing how you do this. I recently picked up a Miranda Sensomatic and wonder if you have ever repaired one? And make video about it.
Thanks for your comment. I will definitely do when I have one in my hand.
❤

Just use soap water on mirror. other chemicals can damage the mirror
do you know how to disassembly the locking diaphragm mechanism on the right side of the lens mount ?

9:59 beware headphone users... LOL
The best of the best in 35 mm

Sir I have an AE-1Program with the shutter issue. How much would you charge to repair it? 🙏🏻
Can I contact you about getting a canon ae-1 deep cleaning and restoration? Do you also offer services?
I am sorry to say that I am currently not giving service because I am a little bit busy right now. Thank for contacting me!
My favorite part 9:59
Very professionnal work, where did you learn all this ?

Are you from myanmar?
They don't make em like they used to.
Love your videos! I would love to send you my Nikon f4 to disassemble and inspect for your channel if you're interested
I really love to check on Nikon F4 but I am living in Thailand
I am going to make a similar video but I will wear my welding gloves. FFS
Where did you get so much time to waste it like that? Are you unemployed?
maybee it is an employment x_x
Judging from the level of skill displayed in this video, I'd say that he is highly paid in some sort of a technical/scientific field.
