I've got the Knife Center exclusive version with the titanium bolster and button lock, and I love it, it's been my go to for daily carry, action is really smooth, button lock works great. Never used a front flipper before and didn't know if I'd really like it but turns out that's my favorite way to deploy this knife. Really good value, I'd recommend this one in any version.
Amazing EDC , and nothing but good reviews from everyone. I'd personally prefer the button lock one because CJRB have been smashing the execution on their buttonlocks lately. Also, I already have the Civivi Sokoke, which is already a winner as a liner lock with very similar specs and a Laconico design.
Got the Stainless Pyrite, Wharnie m, & Ekko. What a fantastic Trifecta. Proly one of the best button sets to date especially for the money. Damn good. 🤙🏼🛠✌🏼
Knife Center has these (pre-order I think) in the same form as their awesome Pyrite exclusive. Titanium bolster button lock with black micarta. But honestly I kind of like the contoured green scales on this one with that brass pivot color. I dislike front flippers but it seems like the opening hole is usable. Looks good really.
This is what the Large Pilar always should've been. I've tried a Pilar variant three different times and have been let down by CRKTs sloppy machining. I've also bought 3 different CJRBs, and they were all flawless.
Really interesting. I only have one CRKT at the moment, the original Pilar, but my CJRB Pyrite is also flawless. I'd happily buy this knife, or any other from them.
I have this knife and the carbon fiber button lock, and I really like this version more. The contoured micarta scales are great, and the blade isn't too uncontrolled when it's falling shut.
Huge fan of that blade shape, (completely agree about sheepsfoot for EDC blade shapes) and that Pivot collar looks great against the Micarta. Nested liners are also a nice touch on Micarta for the extra stability. I only have the Pyrite from CJRB, but I'm thinking that may change soon!
A couple of general questions from a budding knife enthusiast (not specific to this knife review, so feel free to skip past if you just wanna talk Ekko): I've been watching a lot of different knife reviews, and a couple things come up frequently that I'm trying to understand the importance of. First, I almost always hear a grumble or two from each reviewer I've watched when T6-sized hardware is used. Why? Did I just get lucky when I bought a driver that included that sized bit, and a lot of them don't include it? Or is there something about that size that just doesn't work as well as larger sizes for some reason? Second, the reverse/"spidey" flick. Again, most reviews reference it, and how well the knife in question allows for its execution. Is it just some sense of satisfaction/fun gained from opening the knife this way? Or am I missing something important about being able to do it? Thanks in advance for any info you could provide.
Most kits do come with a T6, but it is a really small bit size, and the screws have a tendency to strip or round out because they are so small. T8 screws, even though they’re not a lot bigger, hold up a lot better over time if you’re frequently disassembling and reassembling your knives. Spidey flicking or reverse flicking isn’t a necessity for a knife, it’s more just a fun extra way to open your knife since we all like to fidget with our knives. More opening methods means more fun essentially. Hope this helps!
MC, you really missed that D-Shaped pivot huh?😁. I guess it’s that camera view.. You’re first instinct was declaring it must be a captive pivot but dismissed it otherwise because you missed the subtle flat portion. Anyways, good review.
Nope, I got 2 bad ones in button lock green smooth micarta. The first one is barely locking 50% of the time, so requested replacement. The replacement is worse since I can't push the button in at all so blade swings loose. Hot garbage button lock on both mine. Very disappointing.
As a lanyard guy, I find myself needing a safe-space after being assaulted by your violent words toward me and the 3 or 4 others of us that watch your channel.

CJRB should have “simple done right” as their marketing slogan.
Couldn't agree more.Other knife companies could learn a thing or two from them I think.

I've not tried a front flipper yet, but I'm toldthey're really fidgety and fun to use.
I have this one, too, but the detent on mine is Stout. I can thumb flick it ok, but I can't do anything els.
Just watched the vid and ordered the carbon fiber button lock version right after. Love the carbon fiber look with the blade shape.
I feel like this after all Metal Complex videos! It could get very expensive though!

The Pyrite was my first Button lock and I was massively impressed, so if this had a button lock and was as good I'd be super happy.
Free spinning pivots give me nightmares. I literally had a dream one time that I couldn't take apart a knife because of the free spinning pivot.

I agree that the brass pivot against the Micarta looks really good. It's a good choice.
Thanks for the recommendation I just got mine in button lock and it’s amazing! Makes me also want this version as well. Keep doing what you do.

I just got the titanium button lock version. Really liking it! Great video as usual. Congrats on the 300k!

For some reason the steel pyrite doesn't have a captive pivot but the g10 ones do.
I noticed that too and i am shocked its never mentioned
I have the full steel button lock and really like it.
The all steel has the perfect weight and solid construction, makes it feel premium.
love my blacked out steel button lock variant

I love my ekko! The action is 10x smoother than my benchmade narrows that costs almost 10x the price. Mines a button lock tho
Recently got the button lock version and love it, just wish I was contoured like the liner lock
Heya... I have the knife center exclusive version on the way.
I have the same exclusive and it's great I wish the detent was a bit stronger but otherwise it's awesome

@@caidenjones918 Fair enough. Thanks for the reply
@@caidenjones918 Couldn't have put it better myself!!!
You’ll never forget your first spidey flick.

Surprised you didn’t review the button lock version
Thanks for sharing bud!👊🏻
So the steel scale version does not have captive pivot but micarta scales does :P
Looks like a great truck knife.
Another solid offering
It's like a Pena Bravo, at a 75% discount 🤣I might snag one of these in this exact configuration.
That is a beautiful knife

You may have heard this before, but the Ekko is an attractive blade, made well, and selling for a great price. I like it.

Lol, the 3 or 4 others!!! Made me chuckle.
