- I have decided to use a bit of the extra time I have had recently to trawl through the Archives and revisit some of my favourite tricks I have done in recent years to provide a deeper insight into just what goes on behind the scenes.
In the first Episode we look at the “Log Slide” from my 2016 Film “Wee Day Out” I produced with Red Bull and Cut Media.

3 days and lots of pain for 3 seconds in a movie.... this is passion
You gotta watch the Brandon Semenuk one shot documentary too, crazy stuff
4 days*
it is and this is why we love Danny
@@funkyduck4743 link or name of movie please :)
“then I went on to do it another three times... in a row. Which was, almost annoying.” 😂 certainly been there.
Actually, actually, actually. The worst word in the English language.
Yeah, Danny never said “actually” anywhere in that quote,
It's amazing how you try something 300+ times ending up failing and then just suddenly you know how to do it repeatedly. Inspiring stuff.
Same. sort of?
alder caouette would you say, he never ACTUALLY said actually anywhere in there? 🤨
So much hard work and pain for just a 3 second segment, truly inspiring. 💪 We would love to see more Behind the Scenes 🔥
Hii
What’s up Red Bull
Showing the process on these stunts makes us appreciate the whole thing even more, seeing the fails and how much work was put into it, and the time spent, its just all amazing to see. Wish Danny would make more of these projects cuz they're all so awesome.
"I hope it inspires some of you and try out some log slide yourselves" I don't know why I find this line funny 😆
this shows us that even Danny is just human. in a positive way 👍
although..what a beating to get that trick!!! Amazing amount of attempts.
Somehow he’s human...😂
Well, not sure surviving more than a hundred crashes per day is my very definition of "human", actually 😬
This man is made of steel.
I especially appreciate how simple and modest he is.
This is extremely rare among red bull extreme performers.
Thanks a lot, Mr MacAskill
A little
He's a human!?
Loved this! 🙏
I love you fabbio and danny!❤. You are the best biker
Sick!
Абажпю Фабио
АБАЖАЮ ФАБИО :))))))
I like you fabio...
The day after, some hiker comes by the log and is wondering why it’s greased up ....🧐
Martin Aye so true haha
😉
3 times in a row after 396 attempts? Sods law. Good effort
We all admire Danny's skill on two wheels but what we should be appriciating more is just how good he is at falling off. xD I would have broken my legs 20 times in 99 different places trying to do one trick 100 times a day. In 9 years of watching Danny he's hurt himself less than I have just walking.
I think that's pretty much what set apart a pro from an amateur...they know how to fail, therefore they can push themselves further.
Perseverance sets him apart for sure, but he's also had some bad injuries. He had some pretty crazy back surgery from what I've seen.
When you do something so much it becomes second nature, falling is part of the process. Forward roll all day. 👍
I have a log too
im similarly always amazed by skateboarders who take massive huge stacks and just stand up and walk it off
You don’t realize how much pain they go through. You just see them ace it every time. Seeing these videos makes me appreciate the whole thing even more.
You're a living legend Danny.
Always loved this trick in the final video! Can't imagine how hard it is to balance on a bike sliding sideways. Thanks for the behind-the-scenes look!
So nice to know that even for a pro like danny new stunts don't come effortlessly. Thanks for sharing
Dedication is when you spend 3 months searching for one damn log to shot on it for few seconds
I had the pleasure of meeting Danny at Ascot a few years ago. He was a total dude, total professional and was an extremely down to earth bloke. They say you shouldn't meet your heroes but that day proved that saying completely wrong.
For all the summersaults and forward flips, thats one trick that made me say out loud, “oh, that’s bloody brilliant! “, it’s just so different. 396 practice runs is some dedication!
You should do these style videos, or just videos in general more!!!!
It's a series he is, this is first
AND THIS video demonstrates to all the young riders what it takes when they say “BUT I CAN’T WHEELIE” persistence and passion EXCELLENT VIDEO🤙🏼
Thanks for showing us this Danny. It shows us just how much work can go into just a single shot and allows us to appreciate it even more!
Definitely worth it in the end. The fact that someone of your skill level takes nigh on 1000 attempts till you finally nail it, shows just how hard it is, and this is just one segment in a video. Thanks
Very calm, no yelling, no cursing
So inspiring to see the work it takes to get a trick, and such a relief to know we all have to work that hard for our own results.
I love your videos they’re so awesome!!
I always love watching outtakes/bloopers of movies/tv shows/tricks. I find they're often more hilarious or, in this case, show just how hard a trick is.
You make it look so easy. What we didn't know is the 400 attempts it took!
Even his crashes look so graceful! This guy is a legend!
Even beaten, sore and frustrated, you are still saying it with a wide grin across your face - truly inspiring, all the best to you and your team.
You crazy man! Happy when watching you ride!
Oh hi
In these days of instant gratification, I appreciate videos like this. Should be mandatory at at schools, success is earned, not given.
Legend
the camera man nailed focus and perfect slider movement every time.
The dedication amazes me Danny. When you first watch the original videos its impressive but you don't realise what's gone into it. Champion.
Wow! Admirable!! Kudos to you and your friends who stayed through those three days!!!
that log slide is ICONIC
Wow! How awesome is Danny MacAskill?! you made it look so easy when it's all edited together; I guessed it took some preparation, practice and a few fails, but I had no idea how much dedication and hard work it took you ... And here's me, a mere mortal, inspired by watching your films, I know I'm too old to be as good as but I can have a go, and then I see just how hard it is even for a pro like you, my hopes dashed on the rocks of middle-age!
Keep up the great work, and keep making such great classics; the Wee Day Out was excellent, but Danny Day-Care was epic!🚴🏆🤘🏻
Few fails? Bit of an understatement lolol
Wow Danny! Your persistence is amazing! Painful at times no doubt! I wish I could ride like that on my videos! You freaking ROCK!! 😎
Tough as nails mate, love watching these behind the scenes videos! #legend
These "Archive" series just proves that you're also human like us.., it's so easy to forget everytime you come up with a sick edit!
Thabk you for the inspiration and stay safe
Dear Danny, you are simply the greatest mtber out there. Insane mad skills, and come across as the most humble down to earth guys. Salute. Also, 100 tries on first day!! if people ever ask how you got so good, theres an answer there.
Dear Danny, what a humbling experience coming from you. Truly a pleasure to watch your grace 🏆 and determination. Awesomeness! Thank you
It's not the skills that make you great its the determination ! Thanks Danny.
Slide along a log...... Got it..... Smashed bones, smashed bike and smashed pride later...... keep up the awesome work you biking wizard!
what an excellent video. i love the "archive" idea. please do more.
Really appreciated this archive video. More please.

it makes the incredible Stunts you do even more incredible. To see how much work and love in the detail is put into the tricks. awesome
Your the man Danny, always will be. Talk about dedication!! Brilliant.
Great Video man, Always an Inspiration to see you playing with the bike. Thank you!
Loved this format!
Perseverance, dedication, & commitment...I like it! Keep the films coming!
Danny you are insanely skilled, creative, a superathlete and all that, but the main reason I absolutely love your work, is because of your character. You are always smiling, enjoying what you do!! I'd love to have a pint with'ye, cheers!!
I greatly appreciate you Danny!
This is so coooool
This is amazing love it
This is an awesome lesson for us all, thank you so much for sharing it
I did not expect that. It looked so simple, but as you can see. Respect
Love behind the scenes videos. Awesome Danny & team
He made it look so easy in the film I didn’t even think twice about how much work was behind that shot
Perseverance.....Pure geezer. Love ye Danny.
That's certainly commitment! Love your work
This line "practice makes a man perfect" perfectly fits here🔥🔥🔥
Great thing to say - never thought about it - it is inevitable that it will work - amazing in its simplicity
When he finally does it
Camera man: oh... I wasn’t filming
Dannny: ...
Really love this type of videos! More!
It was an epic shot/trick and one that me and the mates all scratched our heads and thought “how the f*** is that possible” 🤘
Hello Danny! Gracias por tus videos, me encantan...💕👍
Never realized how much work was put into that trick
Sheer perseverance, big respect Danny. It’s one of the tricks I remember most from that that vid, the shot was well worth the hard work!
I love this man.
I love your hardwork Danny☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️
I have been craving for Danny to upload a video
yeh Danny you bring a lot of joy to people keep up the good work.
Great attitude of not giving up. I enjoy your videos very much and look forward to the next ones.
Crazy effort you put into landing these tricks. I’m really looking forward to more
Tremendous! It's amazing to see how much grit you have!
Amazing! A great will and so nice to see you all times smiling and not getting angry! You are a really special athlete and a smart and pleasant guy! TOP!!
Thank you for the Look behind the scenes
That is so nice !!!!!👍👍👍😉
Brilliant. Singular.🙌🏻
also a big thumbs up to the camera man for resetting, panning, and getting focus and everything perfect 400 times 👍👍
Wow. That's determination - thanks for sharing.
Relentless determination is so vital so many aspects of life love it danny. Keeping me going.
This is SO inspiring
Having had the counterintuitive impression it wasn't that hard, based on viewing the 'official' version, I almost feel deceived watching this, but it's mainly a relief to know there isn't some irritating superhuman doing bike tricks just to annoy ordinary humankind.
Super inspiring to see you put that much time and effort into something no one had ever done and you weren't 100% sure was even possible at some points! Congratulations on finally nailing it because it truly did make the film something special!
I didn't realise that some of your shots take so long to get right. Makes me respect what you do even more. Kudos!
Such a hard work for that single shot
Man he did 1000+ shots
Vezi ca ii apare jeti toti v eu
Love watching you're content dude.
Love the dedication 🤘🏽
Absolutely insane! Nice one Danny
Awesome!
Danny you're the best!
The actual video looked so easy, great to see your idea and actually your efforts!
Awesome, both video's
Fabulous Danny ! You never give up ?! What an exemple for a lot of people, including me !
The angle of the picnic bench shot makes it look like you're in the lake.
Amazing!
This is still just such an insane move. Well done and much respect for the persistency. 👌✌
