    I like the frame with the walkers. The whole image has a huge vignette that forces the eye into the people. Loss of details in that vignette adds to the shot. Thanks, Mark.

      Ah thanks Ben, really appreciate that👍🏻 I nearly removed it from the vlog as wasn’t 100% with it but then thought I might be being a bit too critical! Thanks for watching

    Thank you for this video. Im glad that I’m not the only one to try doing this, taking the 400 out landscape shooting. I agree with you that it makes you look at the landscape differently.

    Excellent vlog and it shows up that have a tripod that can take the weight of the lens without causing literal camera shake. Brilliant to see a video using a 400mm f2.8 in landscape photography was interesting to see.

    I've made quite a few landscape photographs using a longer lens (200mm) to compress the perspective but not used a 400mm. I will give this a try, as there's a lot to be said for almost 'limiting' possibilities. Like you say Mark it helps you to keep your eye in and see the whole scene differently. And the shallow DOF really focuses the attention of the viewer.

    Really surprised to see that last shot of the deer @ 1/100 shutter speed. I’ve always applied the focal length should equal shutter speed rule but this proves that it’s not always the case. Great shots.

    I have the 400mm f2.8 for sport and the 400mm f5.6 fot those walks. If you have light the 5.6 is great and with the corrent iso in cameras it's good to have in the bag. Good pics.

    WOW......the second close up was magical and look what happens when you take the 400 prime out.....you become a wildlife camera man. The still you took of the Deer, would have sat beautifully within this years Countryfile calendar. I took a photo of Jupiter and Saturn tonight with my 5D mark ii and a Tamron 70-300. I was pleased with the shot considering, but wished I had your 400 instead. Perhaps you could take a few shots tomorrow night and show us how it is done? You will never get another chance in your lifetime to do it. 2080 to be precise.

    • @MarkKerton
      @MarkKerton  3 года назад +1

      Ah thanks Antony, appreciate that. Has Jupiter ans Saturn disappeared over the horizon now then? I'll go and have a look perhaps is its clear? Thanks for the kind comments on the images. Certainly very different with the 400 thats for sure! Really chuffed with the Deer frame. I really ought to try for a bit more wildlife! Thanks for watching Antony👍

      @@MarkKerton The moon is in the South West and around 5pm after sunset, it was clearly visible to the far right of the moon but low on the horizon. For me, the trees got in the way to get a better shot. That really was a great shot of the deer. You are certainly an all rounder. Hope you get a chance at the planets. 🚀

    Great shoots Mark and the results are beautiful. I went out with the mighty 300 f/2.8 after our discussion and also tried to get some nice frames. And men, it’s tough. There were some great single trees in the fog about 40 meter away and they still did not fit into the frame. And I only had this single lens with me... But being in a nature protection area, I was not allowed to leave the path. Bugger.
    So at the end I did some plane spotting and got some birds sitting in trees. But is was fun anyway.
