  • Iain McCaig and Joshua Greene have a forty-year history as collaborative storytellers. Whether to entertain or enlighten, their relationship sprang from a mutual desire to create stories to remember and share them with the world, Join them for an intimate conversation about creation and collaboration, of a forty-year journey to tell an ever-changing version of ’The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ and the story of ‘Hanuman', and their joy of using make-believe to search for the truth.
Iain McCaig has worked for over 40 years in the entertainment industry. Many of his creations have become pop-culture icons, like his cover for Jethro Tull’s ‘Broadsword and the Beast’ and his Star Wars designs for Queen Amidala and Darth Maul. He has collaborated on many films, among them ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’, ‘The Jungle Book’, ’Guardians of the Galaxy’, ’The Avengers’, and the ongoing 'Star Wars' franchise of movies, graphic novels, and theme parks.

Wonderful, Iain. Your words, your ideas and, above all, your enthusiasm have always been contagious. You make us all feel “Yes, we can do this too! We can write, we can draw, we can communicate.” We only get to see each other every five years or so. Just wish it could be more. As you have a unique way of making us all feel positive, not only about ourselves and our creative work but about our lives too!

Thank you for this interview. I search for new interviews of Iain McCaig, being a artist myself and he, along with Alan Lee, being a inspiration for me for decades.
I have followed a spiritual path since I was born and it has thrown me many challenges. For me, my connection to Iain is not just because of his art and storytelling but also because of his openness and honesty about the supernormal, I've had numerous experiances; but I often find the fantasy community can be superficail and disregard the reality of such experiances. To use a English phrase, it begeggars belief!
Thank you for asking the question of essentially how do you still remain poistive, I wonder if we are all born into energy sytems and these maybe non-challenging or challenging, to provide us with a set of beliefs and questions to move forward with and question. I was brought up in Liverpool, I'm a Scouser, my Dad was highly abusive and so too became both parents. Shit happens and I got through it, one of the key attitudes to being an artist is to step away from the thing we are creating and observe it with a fresh eye. Life is a challenege but I'm grateful for what it has taught me.
