If I can find a few larger cubes maybe 2 inches across or 5 cm, one that is complete, has great color and sharp corners... then it can hold some value in the mineral collecting community. I mostly just enjoy the thrill of discovering natural crystals from the earth. 😊
That’s awesome!! I’m shocked at how perfect the edges are and super straight, some are like perfect cubes!! So cool!! So do y’all melt it down and sell it? I guess like what’s it’s main use is the question I have.. I’ve never seen this type of rock before lol.. but I can imagine it would make really nice jewelry or something like that!
Such a great question!! Isn't amazing how perfect these cubes are!? This area was an old fluorite mine back in the 1950, near the industrial revolution. They would melt down large hunks of fluorite and use it as flux to create steel. I don't do that though. Fluorite is more of a fragile mineral, therefor it's difficult to wear in jewelry. It brakes and chips very easily. So I will clean them up and display them in my mineral collection or sell them to folks who collect mineral specimens.
Fluorite ridge has lots of Fluorite!!
It's seemingly infinite!! What a beautiful area to explore.
what's it worth? or is it for just for beauty sakeness?
