Removing a Large Thomsonite Nodule from Basalt
Working a rather large hunk of Lake Superior Thomsonite, a rare Zeolite from Minnesota. Removing thomsonite from it's basalt host is no easy task!! This mineral is very soft so often times it's best to work around the entire stone to avoid breaking it.

Hunting for Lake Superior Agates in the wild
Nice find, love to see them cleaned up.
Looks nice that black stuff between the eyes is often soft so its probably best to keep it like that. I always get scared of going into those to much then they can crack and break. Looks good the way it is.
It was a fun one to liberate!! Thank you for the comment. I've only found a few nodules where the outer chlorite rich rind was pretty stable! I agree with you, this one cannot be taken any further without jeopardizing the specimen. That's a big reason why I kept a large majority of the basalt host underneath. That and I'm just an overall fan of a specimen where it's perched perfectly on the matrix. I think it turned out fantastic! Next time though.. I'm getting a concrete saw to do most of the cutting. 😆
Fluorite ridge has lots of Fluorite!!
It's seemingly infinite!! What a beautiful area to explore.
That is freakin beautiful! Looks like a planet
Amazing! Very awsome find .
Niiice👌

Bella, yo encuentro, pero no tan bellas así❤❤❤
Holy jumpin jasper!!!! That is top 5 coolest laker I've ever seen on this planet!! I can see why it's your favorite. I would never sell or polish that one it's perfection 💎
Good eye! That must be the 1.75 pounder? I see what you mean by it being covered in dried river scum and algae!!
Right!? She was a scummy one! You've got yourself a good eye. Damn near spot on, it's 1.62 lb to be exact.
Hot damn! LSA goodness!
Dude nice! Did you get a weight on that behemoth?
I appreciate it!! This one came in at 1lb 10oz
What's the song
The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot
Wtf is that? Looks like nasty spiderwebs
Man that's a sweet sweet peeler!!! Nice sized potato you found there! ❤
I really appreciate you!! Thank you. This is my biggest fortified find yet.
Thats awesome! My biggest agate I've ever found in oregon is a 2 pound carnelian, it still sits on my display shelf to this day.
2 lbs is a biggin! Those carnelian agates have such a rich color too. When I was out in Oregon last spring, I only found little chips and such. They're just as elusive as these lakers!!
@TheAgateGod yeah for sure. There are a few places where they're common and I can fill a 2 gallon bucket in 2 hours. In 99% of spots, rivers, and beaches I find a small handfull or so in 2 - 4 hours. It's very addictive. I haven't been able to stop since I started 4 years ago! It's too much fun. Keep up the good work!
“Gender affirming care” is actually conversion therapy if you think about it.
Wtf is that??
A kidney stone from the Jolly Green giant,Took him almost 3 hours to pass it😂😂😂😂😂
@@Turdferguson_rb😂
An agate you foo
Wow that's got some nice peel
Thank you so much! This beast was hiding in all sorts of scum.
What's its significance?
I have a bunch of this color. Have collected rocks for yrs.
I love hunting for agates
No one cares that you decided to one day record rockss
Sounds like you live a pretty pathetic existence where you have to poke at other's happiness... sad sad
Damn lucky 🍀
Thanks for the subscribe on my end! 💪 I love that botryoidal piece at the end of this video!
I appreciate it man! Those were some dirty shafts full of the finest tenorite dust I've ever seen. I'm happy I had my full face respirator down there!! Most of these old shafts get colder as you get deeper, but these ones got hotter. It's was an interesting place. You as well, I'm loving those gemmy fairburn find vids. You've got some rad content!!
Looks like you are off to an amazing start to the year! What does the one at 1:30 weigh? Looks like 10 oz?
That's a cool one! I wish I could have found the whole thing intact. It's deceiving, that one came in at 5.5oz!
Nice finds. I'm still saving up for a saw.. I live in Decatur county Indiana.
Rock saws are a must! That's awesome, keep rockin!
Ohhh my goodness!!! They just kept getting better and better. Insanely beautiful 👍✌️🫶😃 I’d love to see what you do with them
Thank you so much! Some I keep natural, others I like to face polish. 🙏
That's a giant!!! 👏 ✌️
Thank you! It's 11ounces on the dot!
Nice finds, thanks for sharing the adventure!
Fabulosio 🎉👏
Looks like a chunk of pork meat.
River find?
Nope, not in the river! This one came clean out of a natural washout from a large bank that led down to a river. 🤙
Those are beautiful! I wish there was somewhere to find them around here. 💖💯
Great finds! Thanks for sharing!
That is a beautiful laker.😍
