Old school science fiction and fantasy would raise awareness about social topics by fleshing out an entire story using allegory. They didn't hit you over the head with ham fisted dialogue shoehorned into every orifice of a creation just for the sake of it being there. Starship Troopers was written about the suspension of nuclear weapon testing, but it doesn't explicitly tell you that. Completely agree about the writers although some of it may be that they're being forced to put all of this crap in that adds to the story in no meaningful way

Sure, the straight up in your face DEI like they had in Dragon Age Veilguard might be gone, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up about it being gone entirely
I just hope the anti-DEI sentiment won't steer too far to the right and completely deny the existence of homosexuality in games. If written well (which is a rarity these days), that topic has a right to exist.
