  • "The Prodigal Son" ( 敗家仔) is a Hong Kong martial arts film released in 1981, directed by Sammo Hung, who also starred in a supporting role and co-wrote the script with Barry Wong. The film, starring Yuen Biao, Lam Ching-ying and Frankie Chan, was released on December 22, 1981, and grossed HK$9,150,729. It was nominated for two Hong Kong Film Awards and won the award for best action choreography. The story follows Leung Chang, the son of a wealthy man who studies kung fu superficially. Due to his lack of skill, his father pays others to lose to him in fights. Upon discovering his father's deception, Leung Chang is motivated to study martial arts seriously and seeks out a kung fu expert to accept him as a disciple.

    One the best kung fu films ever great story line fighting off the scale classic in terms of technical fighting skills

    I live in the US-East Coast,,, I remember back in the old days, on sat, we made sure all chores were done before "noon", that is when "Black Belt Theater" came on local TV,, man those were the days,, we loved all the classics,, like "Dragon Fist" to "Kid with the Golden Arm",, we went out side in the back yard and went nuts every sat,, the old classics are always endless inspirations to us all at any given time,, CARRY ON...😎

    Lam Ching Ying is incredible in this movie! They were actually fighting that fast! No camera tricks. This movie is in my top 5 Kung Fu Movies of all time.
