This is old, but Spiral is still awesome. I taught it to write for me. I just mathematically cycle through every note and note combo (limited to 1, 2 or 3 notes) that may sound good in a piece, then just go through the recording and toss the bits that don't work, keep the ones that do and get to work putting it together. Presets are largely no good for this. I had to actually learn and use the tool. Well worth the time and effort.

Good advice to record it all then toss what doesn't work in a piece.
