I was born and raised in Taiwan and I have been living in US for 16 years, which is the major part of my adulthood. My observation is that America is a country where a small bunch of extremely smart people carry a lot of idiots to move forward.
Christobanistan Extremely smart people are indeed rare in all countries, if that's what you mean. But, these people cannot carry their countries forward in most countries like they do in America. And this is what puts America ahead of others, its ability to attract and make good use of real smart people.

Never met an American in real life, but from what I've seen on the internet, they are incredibly smart. That being said, I think the top 1% of Americans will be “smarter” than the top 1% of any other country because the US undoubtedly has some of the best universities on earth where some of the greatest minds congregate and teach (Harvard, MIT, Caltech, Princeton, etc.) also US allows some of the brightest minds on earth to come over and become US citizens, thus causing braindrain in other regions of the world while simultaneously expanding the 1%. That being said, “smartness” is a hard concept to define. I think what matters more are results, and US is literally the forefront of revolutionary tech, medicine, and research. I’ve always said, the US undoubtedly has some of the smartest ppl on earth, but the bottom 50% are unbelievable dumb (I’m an American I’ve witnessed it lol)

That being said, “smartness” is a hard concept to define. I think what matters more are results, and US is literally the forefront of revolutionary tech, medicine, and research. I’ve always said, the US undoubtedly has some of the smartest ppl on earth, but the bottom 50% are unbelievable dumb (I’m an American I’ve witnessed it lol)
