Honestly seeing Aethel rage IRL is fun and relatable, I also can unfortunately relate as I'm also on a fast this November, not full on quitting like Mi'Lord, just a Lent of sorts, but I had a similar rage just a few hours ago, thankfully also at my house, like him at his place. 🥴
Bro the ONLY time this is acceptable is at home, with friends, watching a dumb movie where banter and commentary actually improve the experience for everyone. Doing in the cinema, unless you booked it out all for yourselves, is orc goblin behavior.
This, 100%. If you're home watching with people and everyone's cool with it, there's no problem talking during a movie. But in a theater? I get it more if it's like a screening of The Room or Rocky Horror Picture Show (and even then there's limits), but anything with a LIVE ORCHESTRA is so incredibly rude. I get that some people just talk during movies, but there's also a huge difference in talking and at least trying to be quiet and whisper or something.
@@DemonLordRaiden Okay, because...I mean...I *feel* like I am whispering when the movie's quiet, louder if the movie is blasting big, usually my speculation or comments, not...mistiming quotes and saying them out loud real big, like...ugh. I hope I haven't been that goblin before.
watching a movie youve all seen, or watching a terrible movie together with your friends and commenting, making jokes and general banter is one of the best ways to spend time. In a movie theater tho, shut your goddamn mouth.
Aethel needs to just bring us with him. Imagine the whole theater is filled with castle bro's and gal's but we leave some seats open for people and when they start doing shit like that we all as a theater just collectively turn and shame them. Ik its never gonna happen but damn would that be sweet
This man should no joke be a comedian. "Sorry guys, I'm a little on edge, I just quit vaping two days ago" was the perfect beginning and end to his rant about obnoxious moviegoers.
I can think of a few times where a conversationalist audience downright improves the film. When I went to see *Age of Ultron* on release, behind my group were some other delightfully enthusiastic nerds, who were occasionally going "ohh" at certain references and such, you know how it is. But the funniest thing was when Q____S_____ bit the dust, and one of the guys behind us just shouts, "NOOO! Take Hawkeye instead!!" It's the kinda thing that sticks with you years later.
The main difference there is people are reacting to the movie, the chuckle f*cks Aethel is talking about were trying to be funny guys and say stuff before it happens.
I wouldn't even call that conversational. That's actually one of the cool parts about going to the movie theater, and Aethel clarified later as well. When everyone reacts to the movie, and screams or laughs at the same time it has a really special feel since you're all in that moment together. It's the people running through NPC dialogue trees that are the problem (and I guess it takes an *extra* type of annoying to go to a live orchestra of the Godfather and think all the people who paid good money would rather hear someone riff through the whole movie instead)
No film on this earth that I have ever seen in the theater, would be enhanced by dumbass, loud people adding their commentary. I paid for a quiet, immersive experience, anyone talking is getting reported and removed.
If I had to sum up Aethel's movie experience. He didn't go see "The Godfather" w/ live orchestra. What he got was "Scream" w/ live audience interaction
His frustration is very relatable and I love it. Hope he can simmer down and control his temper better. Got some ridiculous folks where he lives good grief.
I don't know why, but these kinds of rants asphyxiate me. I'm funcking dying, and this is so much like me at times. This is about a month later, and I keep coming back to this clip. I don't know why, it's just so damn relatable.
Yeah its a lot of the old movies in LA, there tends to be people that memorized most the movie and just can kill it for someone who hasn't seen it yet.
Honestly, Vape or No Vape, anger is a perfectly reasonable reaction to jackasses ruining a nice time out with your lady. Especially being filmed by a stranger without permission or reason. Who the hell even does that?
on the first talking, you stand up, and point at them and say loudly "SHUT THE FK UP" you do not let that happen more than once. if they dont instantly comply, you walk out, get an usher or the manager of the theatre and get them kicked out.
Not sure if this is just bad in the US or if where I live just happens to be full of polite watchers but I think I can count on 1 hand how many times someone has spoke a single word (at least to a very audible level) during a movie in my entire life of going to the theater.
This might legitimately be an LA thing. I've lived on the east coast and the midwest, and the only times anyone was that disruptive were when gang members were in the theater.
I have this happen occasionally. One advantage to being 6'2 is usually standing up and making direct eye contact stops it pretty quick. The one time it didn't, and this lil' shit wants to go, I just nod, and make like I'm going to the bathroom. He settles down and I just get an usher, lol. He made a bigger scene getting kicked out, but worth.
I have the same pet peeve. Which is weird, because as a kid I'd repeat lines and laugh and talk about cool shit on screen with friends I was with too...........but as I metamorphed into an old man it slowly and slowly aggravated me more and more till now I just don't go.
It doesn’t always work, but most times people would quiet down some if asked politely and told it’s your group’s first time watching. If it doesn’t, we’ll at least you tried.
I've noticed people will generally shut up once confronted. Couple months ago me and my gf went to the movies and this one dude would not shut up during the entirety of the previews, which is whatever. But then once the movie starts he keeps going and going, until I just turn and say "bro can you shut up?" and boom. Quiet the rest of the movie.
Back in the day, in the UK, if someone had behaved like that there would've been some stern shushing. And I mean the really severe stuff. If that was ignored then I feel the cleaning staff would've found the bodies shoved under the seats, and I doubt the police would've found any talkative witnesses even in a theatre full of people. I can relate to him not wanting to be 'that guy' though. As a Brit someone had to be REALLY rude to warrant polite admonishment, at least back then.
I'll admit, I talk during movies but I feel like I'm doing quietly, clowning with a friend but if you're watching something with a live orchestra shut up and enjoy the atmosphere
Only started watching Aethel recently after seeing a few clips of him with Nyan and their absolutely weird ass conversations and skits they do. He has such a good vibe and is the kind of person who just wants to have fun with everyone. Aethel is the kinda person I would love to hang out it. He is sooo freaking funny and his reactions and opinions are gold. I would die laughing while egging him on to keep ranting. I understand why Nyan is always laughing till she is gasping for air when she is every collabing with him. My fav vid is still the Madden 23 one. His commentary was outstanding. I 100% agree with Aethel on this. It is beyond infuriating when a dumbass thinks its funny to say their stupid comments over the best parts of movies to look cool in front of their friends when in the and they look like complete and utter Gobshites. Like Aethel I hope day to just unleash my frustration on someone like that and tell them to shut that gaping hole they call a mouth. "If you want to talk go roller skating" hahaha that shit nearly killed me.
One of my biggest pet peeves is people on their cell phones in front of me. I haven't put up with this shit for years now. I just go right by their ear and say "TURN YOUR PHONE OFF!!!". Works every time.
That or when they're RIGHT NEXT to you. This one dude kept pulling his phone out when I went to Elvis, but he always had for like 3 seconds, so not enough time to even open my mouth, but god after like 5 times, it was getting annoying.
I don’t mind when the audience reacts with a laugh, crying, or a scream, but if you’re talking nonstop, I would wish I had telekinesis because I would go stranger things on their ass.
Oh believe me, it's not just an LA thing. My hometown is rife with disruptive moviegoers and theatergoers. Screaming kids, loud snoring, pointing a laser pointer at the screen, singing along with musical numbers, arguments that nearly devolve into fistfights...I've seen all of it and more. Some people simply have no sense of decorum or common decency.
When I was still going to the movies, there was so many of "Shut the F'ck Up", "Nobody Cares!" and the whole bag, box of popcorn just flying through the air, being hurled through half the cinema at someone. Kids fighting, playing around. Woman constantly asking "who that, why that, what it does?". Loud talking or eating.
I love seeing Aethel's super valid ranting in IRL too, hope I was reasonable and quiet when I made commentary to my friends/family, and the LA hate makes me want him and others to play GTA 5 Story Mode *and* San Andreas.
Aethal speaking from the same space as I feel everyday. I lost my shit at some fuckheads smoking and vaping in the no smoking area at my workplace. I don't care what people do to themselves, but fuck man, they have 3 spaces to sit and I got 1 and they still sit in my fucking space to smoke and vape. I try to ignore it because it gets so annoying telling people to have some decency all the time, but it was someone I already told before so I lost my shit, and they looked at me like I was a psycho which is exactly what I was aiming for. Nailed it.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a LA thing. I ventured out from my homeland of the Midwest to Arizona for a vacation and all the Californians there were obnoxious in person and reckless drivers on the road. Even the Arizonans were like "yeah, they come around and make our life hell."
In the first avengers movie there's a scene where the stark sign falls down and crushes a hot dog stand. Right after it happens it goes completely quiet. In that moment I kinda shouted "NOT THE HOT DOGS!" and the entire cinema laughed. Do I get a pass? I'm actually kinda proud of it lol.
i think in that instance it enhances the viewing experience. i remember going to see Immortals in theater and during the scene where the main guy is about to have sex and has a moment of awe, a guy near the front row shouted out "He don't know what to do!?" and everyone laughed. as long as more people seem to enjoy the banter than not i think it's ok but if you or your group are literally the only ones and there's no response by anyone else it can be pretty annoying

Thanks I had fun with that

But I wouldn't do this in the fucking theater with a live orchestra! That's dumb as fuck.

Aethel is such a gift to the internet
Nobody would've complained if Aethel snatched the phone and threw it at the popcorn shakers.
i would cheer then loudly mock the phone owner.
That nicotine withdraw is really hitting Aethel.
give him 10 years he could play Joker.
So glad this story time was done IRL vs the model
No vtuber model can even hope to capture the physical comedy aethel displays here, nyan was absolutely right about that part.
Yeah. As much as I miss his normal model, I have to admit that these IRL streams have all been absolutely golden.
'sorry guys, i quit vaping' is gonna be aethel's new catchphrase for the next bit lol

Oh it could definitely happen
I'm not a castle bro, but I would come all the way to LA, just to yell at those people.
"Quit vaping, I'm a lil' on edge", I literally died
Aethel screaming is now my new favorite thing...
This was ficking amazing.
"If you want to talk go rollerskating" is probably my new favourite quote.

Ive never watched a single Godfather movie. Seeing how Aethel is very passionate about the movie i might give it a watch.
This happened to me whenever every big MCU thing came out.
I remember eating a shit ton of spoilers, before and during Endgame and No Way Home.
How'd they taste?
They spoil the movie while watching the movie? What the fuck?
