I love all your videos and appreciate how much you're helping other comeback to natural approaches.

I just found your channel today. I've never heard of collecting IMO's. Really struggling helping my Mom with her garden. It's hot, dry, and sometimes windy for days. They use irrigation 3 times per week. Thank you for making high quality videos! Very informative.
Really dude, I am going to sound a bit dramatic, but this video and probably your others (I haven't seen yet) are really leading us the right way/ direction.. The beauty of this and your experiments is the scalability.. Most people can get into this on a small scale without need for specialty equipment..
I love your videos, it inspires me to cultivate more and more I’ve been gardening for a couple of years now but watching you moves me to do it ata larger scale than just a few tomatoes and cucumbers, I wanna build raised beds out of tires and grow ginger in them. I want to collect IMO and fertilize my plants with them. Thank you
That’s awesome!! I’m really happy to hear that you’d like to expand your garden and I wish you the best of luck to do so! Also, if you grow food in old tyres, make sure to line them inside with some material so you don’t have chemical leeks over time :)
Julio Ya I heard old tires can break down. I’m not sure about plastic totes though. I got a 500 gallon IBC tote and cut it in half to grow in and raise compost worms. I guess I need to check and see if plastic in IBC totes are bad.
I have been using knf i inputs for a couple years now, i absolutely love the results i have been able to achieve. I can produce the best medicine for a mere fraction of the cost. I enjoy collecting and making inputs. Fertility is everywere i look at the world different now i see fertility every were.
I used it as well with great results but yes, this is much cheaper and really efficient. However, if you are transitioning from conventional farming to traditional methods, it might take a bit longer :)
I have tested uncooked rice, half cooked and fully cooked rice. Half cooked gets way more of a population. I also sprinkled a little bit of 2-row malted barley (full of free beta-amylase... helps a lot in breakdown) on top of the IMO1 rice before it colonized. How long do you ferment 1:1 IMO1/BS so you don't use it too early? How do you store it long term? Do you have to keep adding BS? Thanks!
The IMO that you showed here looks just like one I collected in my area (New England, similar climate). Was a little discouraged but it’s cool to see it’s usable. Awesome video. Also sweet flecktarn
Thanks for demonsting and explaining the process . I subscribed, im from UK too . I will be trying to collect in my local area and eventually further out . It eill be interesting to see what bacteria and trichoderma live in British soils . My original idea was to go out looking for mushrooms 🍄 in the woods . I wanted to collect that soil and add it to my spil and compost teas . This is the next level . Respect 👍
Thank you very much! I really need to make a video about IMO3, it just takes a bit of time which I struggle to find nowadays but I promise I’ll make it :)
Lovely concise explanation. The best I’ve seen! I’m subscribed and will be checking out your other vids. Thank you for the time you put into making these.
I love the idea of closed or near as closed cycle gardening. Would the IMO plant feed have the same symbiotic effect on hydroponic plants as soil grown with naturally occurring microorganisms?
Thank you, I’m happy you liked it! That’s a good question, I’ve never tried but I’m pretty sure it would work in the same way as in soil but obviously involving slightly different kind of microorganisms:)
This was such a great video! You seem so passionate about what you do. I'm curious if the IMO 2 can be used for house plants, or if its not recommended.
Thanks for all your videos. They are very helpful. Can IMO1 be used or do you have to mix it with brown sugar and wait a while? If it need to set, what is the minimum wait time? Thanks in advance

Thanks for your work on the videos, but most of all, thanks for spreading info and educating about these systems in the correct way. There's a lot of misinformation about jadam/knf out there. You really nail it well! I will tell you one thing though, finding leaf mould is hard in my arid area.
@@SpicyMoustache Yes same cultures (yeast and bacterial) are used in other cultures as it were :) look up Korean Maekoli rice wine beer on youtube many videos on how to make it but try a bottle they are cheap like $2.50 for a Liter at Korean Grocers.

Humus near the coast is the best. You can use the mix of rice, boiled potato, barlet rice, seawater, crabshell. Crabshell is important, microorganisms that decompose crab shells are important for directly attacking spoilage bacteria. Luckily these microbes abound near the sea 🎉
This is great man… Im def doing this this year. How long should it take to reach the desired texture/state to use the imo-2 in water? How do you keep feeding it? Is it kind of like sourdough? I wonder though about inland areas with few fish. Makes sense Korea uses fish as they have tons of it. I live in Utah. I could get a couple ton worth of dead deer roadkill haha. Is it possible to use actual waste meat from deer or beef or large animals and swap out the fish? I get you’d need more brown sugar or it’d take longer but something I wondered about.
Your IMO isn't suppose to look like a tyedye shirt, the colours are usually from bad bacteria brought in by bugs when they munch on the rice it should be white and fuzzy, try using a closed wooden box the IMO can go through the wood but bugs cant! "pureknf drake" here on youtube has hours and hours of info on making imo and has personally studied under Cho, aswell as chris trump. Awesome and informative video to introduce the best way of growing!!!
Thank you Sam, I’ll definitely check it out. I watched all Chris’s videos and I’m studying every night JADAM and KNF. I spoke to a few people that studied with some of this big names in KNF and they said that my collection it’s good. Not a grade A but still usable in the garden. I’ll try with the wooden box next time, at the moment, I have another collection out in cardboard at the moment in a really good spot, let’s see how it goes.
I’ve been watching your videos for awhile and decided to start growing some food from our food. Things are growing good except two things. Cantaloupe and watermelon. I’ve lost all my watermelon and all but one cantaloupe. I started more watermelons because I’m sure I overwatered the first plants. But other people are saying they are having problems with watermelons and melons as well. Can you maybe do a video on these two plants please? My peas are easy and I was able to enjoy one yesterday! The tomatoes are cherry and I have a bunch of groups of them but they seem to take forever to ripen. But the watermelon seems to look wilted when it’s in the sun so I would give it a good mist which killed them im sure. Same with the cantaloupe. I thought watermelon and melons liked a lot of sun? Help😢
Thank you for such a great video. I wanted to ask you about your water bottle setup with the starter plants. Can you upload a video as to how to construct the humi domes ?
Hi! We have a fairly shady corner of our back garden where there is a well established birch tree, plus plenty of other vegetation, including what's growing in our neighbours' gardens. There's plenty of leaf mold under the tree. Do you think that this would be a good location for collecting IMO?
I really liked your video very much as you explain the steps easily, and I really enjoy your channel very, very much, I love your content. But I have some critique on your process for IMO1. I don't know if you really can collect IMO1 the way you do it. In the original setting you have wooden boxes (this is not important, only if you want to reuse them) that have 1-2mm gaps in the bottom so that the rice can get in contact with the soil. So the best way would be to poke holes in your box, fill in the rice (without the paper towels). Perhaps some rice would drizzle out, but that is not a problem, as this is building a bridge between the soil and your rice in the box. When the rice is inoculated via this bridge by the mycelium, it will clump together and stay in your box, even if some fell out of it. And the lid should also be open for airflow, only covered with a paper towel. On the wooden box, you can have a lid with a mesh so that critters can't get in. For your box, I don't know how you would do that, so that your rice don't get eaten by critters. So in essence, I think that your box is too closed up for IMO to get in.

I’m just super curious, everything I’ve heard says you want to collect imo that is white and somewhat fluffy looking. If it has pink or blue, is this bad? My first collection is mostly white/ blue white with some pink streaks.
As long as it it mostly white and fluffy forming chunks of rice, I’d keep it! 😊
Hi My imo1 Collection was good but on day 4 of imo2 developed small patch of fungus is this imo 2 ok to use
Hello, I’d need to see it on a picture but generally speaking, fungal activity is a good sign :)
Thanks bro

Thanks a lot mate! Yes, I hope more people will start using natural methods! 😊
I should put rice in my garden too?
Do pumps hurt IMOs or is it ok to use manual pumps to spray IMOs all over the place?
Hi, in Malaysia as the weather is hot, it takes only two days.
Can you use brown rice as a substrate for mushrooms?
yep you can =)
@@SpicyMoustache thank you for responding. I am new to this and I am educating myself before I get started. I was also looking into using corn kernels, cob and the husks.

I’d suggest to wait for at least 7 days to use!
