Enjoyed watching this! Refreshing that you left in the ‘mistake’, and you redeemed it, good ideas. Is there a follow on video to see how you used the backgrounds?
This was a lot of fun to watch!! It’s funny that I even liked the pages you sprayed on that you ended up painting over!! Lol! I look forward to seeing what you do with these!!
Gosh, I liked them all! Not sure if my favorite was the denim page with the sprays with the gesso brick pattern or the last one with the beautiful purples and blues. I too, enjoy seeing the oxide sprays and gloss sprays together. I have collected so many sprays fro Dina, Dyan, and Tim (both oxide and dye). I have recently gotten a couple of the Seth Apter ones from iZink, and oh my word are they gorgeous! Beautiful beautiful pigments.
I love all of these backgrounds and am excited to try some of these techniques! I think the last one with the sprays is my favorite. Also love the idea of playing with supplies and focusing on the background and not having to have a full vision of the page yet. Thank you! ❤️
Thank you so much for showing us that it's OKAY when something starts to go wrong and that it IS fixable! I had that happen to me a few days ago trying to add color over certain washi tapes (I'm new to washi tape) and as I was doing this I was like "dear God what was I thinking?! This tape needs gesso for the colors to stick *face palm*" lol. But I managed to salvage it, and when I looked at it the next day with a fresh set of eyes, it turned out to be one of my favorite backgrounds so far!!
I also ABSOLUTELY LOVE the purple & turquoise page, but they're my colors anyway. Question- how do you come up with an idea for an art journaling page? (I'm so excited. The past few weeks, I have felt like I lost my creativity. So, I did a Take 10 exercise that ended up turning into 30 minutes! But it was SO MUCH FUN! At first, I was like 'I have no idea what I'm going to do.' By the end, I was going strong & had a whole sketchbook page filled with all kinds of different border ideas! Thank you for the Inspiration to do this! I want to do this once a week. I can't remember where I got the idea from to do all kinds of different borders- sorry 😢)
That is a fabulous question. Sometimes it is all about the background, and once I'm in the flow, it is kind of like you said, the creativity just comes out and a page results. Sometimes I start out with a specific focal point that I am wanting to use or a technique that I am wanting to try out. It's hard to say because I don't always follow a formula.
Happy to find you. Greatly appreciated a good example of working through the more difficult challenges. I’m a new fan and subscriber. 😊
So glad you are here - thanks for subscribing!
Beautiful and inspiring! Thank you for sharing how to push through a page you don’t initially love. It is encouraging to paint newbies like me.
We all have projects that go awry. Sometimes I scrap them and sometimes I am able to redeem them a bit!
Low key loveeee seeing it go wrong and then end up beautiful! THIS is what art is about!
Doesn't always go as planned, but I'm learning how to pivot 💕
Loved the way they turned out.
Me too - thanks so much for watching!

Thanks so much 😊. Love mixing the sprays...ends in such cool combos! And yup, I think the last one might be my favorite.
Wow, really awesome backgrounds! You are a brave lady in persevering through your "hot messes"!
Haha, I kinda wanted to rip those pages out, but I am glad I didn't. I am so pleased with the finished backgrounds!

Yes! Sometimes you have to just keep going and adapt on the fly!

Yes I did!

💕💕💕
So cool! ⚾️
Thanks Ann!
Enjoyed this video. Do you make your own art journals or buy them? Interesting to see the different papers.
This one is a Dina Wakley journal (linked in description box). I generally buy mine!
