Hi, I really loved watching this a couple of days ago! I even tried it on a watercolour paper and I had a lot of fun. I especially loved experimenting with my supplies without any goal, just going with it. So yesterday I got myself a journal with thick paper and some matte medium. I also went to my parenst for some old books and I’m ready to make another page. Thank you for showing this!
Thank you for sharing this with me. I’m so tickled you found inspiration through this video. Remember the goal is to have fun not produce a masterpiece. Those come by surprise. 😊
@@kristina-rae I just finished my first page in my journal and I had a lot of fun! I feel like I want to highlight some things a bit more, but it didn’t really work and I wasn’t sure how to do it better. I’ll give it another try next time. Also, my pens didn’t work very well on top of the matte medium and the gesso, so I’ll have to try some different ones. But, it’s just so relaxing, time flies while you’re journaling!
Quick practical question, I was worried the matte medium and the gesso would dry on my brush, so I have been running to the sink and back. How do you deal with that? And with all the other mess from getting your fingers in the paint and splattering?
A jar of water just like with paint to rinse, but I don’t always rinse, but will drop it in the water to prevent drying. Also baby wipes and/or a wet rag is perfect for wiping messy hands on.
Not all decorative napkins have three layers, some have only two. Check carefully to avoid tearing that top layer. Love the variety of tones in the book pages. Thanks for sharing the process as well as the results.
I too love that style of stamps. Your page is gorgeous. So happy you popped up in my feed. I will now binge watch several of your other videos. You have inspired me 🤗👍
This was the first video I've seen of yours - I had to see it, as I recognized PaperArtsy flowers. I love their quirky designs but your idea of stamping the outline on the journal page was genius. Also have to mention - my name is Kristin with middle name, Rae. I have met very few women with the name Rae, as first or middle! So cool to see we are sooooo close to having the same name!
Kristin, Kristina …. Same difference right! That is uncommon and we’ve found each other. If you tell me you were born in March then we really have something to talk about. 😃 Thanks for watching!
Just found you. You are so down to earth in your demo & inspiring. Wonderful journal spread!! Love the napkin effect! I'll be looking for more videos from you. Thank you!!
Oh my goodness I’m so happy I found your page it popped up this morning and I absolutely love the process of how you did things. Thanks again and I’m hooked now.
Really enjoyed your video, your spread turned out so well, adding the Posca pen added the pop! You can also used clear gloss gel through that stencil right over your images and it just adds a dimension and sparkle like glass!💕🇨🇦
Thank you Cindy! I love using glossy accents or diamond glaze for some projects but didn’t even think about it for this one. Might have to revisit in a couple spots and see how it looks.
Hi! Listening to your comment about liking thicker glue reminds me of a challenge I recently had. Got a new bottle of art glitter glue and it was too runny. So my husband suggested I get a pot of hot water slowly going and I set the bottle in the middle. I didn't rush cooking off some water out of the glue as it could form a skin on the glue and make the bottle itself start to collapse. Took me a good hour , doing it at a low temp., but it thickened up my glue. I also use Fabri Tac glue when I use fabric and to thin that down it just needs a bit of nail polish remover. Sometimes we spend more time on our supplies than getting to use them! 😂boiling
OMG! So true about spending more time with supplies. I will remember this about art glitter glue because I’ve had some that was too runny. Thanks for the tip. 😃
Really nice video! Just found your channel and I am pretty new to art journaling. I have two sisters that have been doing art journaling for years and they have coaxed me along. I loved watching your process. I have always done some form of art, but I am on a pretty new journey of mixing the mediums. Still finding challenges in layering media, using correct substrates, making focal points pop.
OMG Mary! You don’t know what you have been missing. The most fun is discovering what works and what doesn’t. That’s why we call it a journal. You find what works in your journal and then you can create that masterpiece for the Louvre. 😉
I’ve been on a medication that’s made me depressed and I haven’t done much art lately. This has totally motivated me to give it a try. Thank you! How did you make your textured stenciled part green?
I really like how your art journal turned out. I've never seen napkins like the ones you used. Do you have a source where you can order unique napkins?
Typically I use something with sturdy mixed media pages. I love the Dylusion Journals by Ranger. This was done in a bullet journal I got from Hobby Lobby (not recommended).
Tutorials are enough on their own with the voiceover. The music alienates a lot of people. There are many who will be triggered by sensory overload from the visual, voice and music. It's such a shame because it's an interesting video.
Thank you for this inspiring project! I am a greeting card maker and typically work small. I have been creating collage papers though in order to begin an art journal. Your doodles looked great at the end!!❤️👍😃

Posca pens or paint pens are the best (in my experience).

You are right, those flowers are so FUNN. I really like how you treated them, too. Well done.
Thank you so much!
I like your comment, "No going back." Lol! so true! Also, a posca pen makes everything pop! I learned a lot from your video, thanks!
Thank you so much! I learn something every project I do and so glad you gained something too.

I’ve never encountered one with only two layers. Good to know! Thanks for watching
Oh my gosh!.... I love this so much! Please make more mixed media videos😍❤️❤️❤️
Tammy, thank you so much. I’m sure there will me more mixed media in the near future. 😉
I too love that style of stamps. Your page is gorgeous. So happy you popped up in my feed. I will now binge watch several of your other videos. You have inspired me 🤗👍
Oh my goodness thanks Abbie! I’m humbled. I hope you enjoy them all ☺️

New subscriber. Beautiful pages!
Hello Deb. Welcome! Thanks for the kind words.
I’ve been on a medication that’s made me depressed and I haven’t done much art lately. This has totally motivated me to give it a try. Thank you! How did you make your textured stenciled part green?
I’m so glad the project motivated you!! I believe I used a green Adirondack spray on that too.
I really like how your art journal turned out. I've never seen napkins like the ones you used. Do you have a source where you can order unique napkins?
Thank you. The napkins came from Home Goods. We also used to get a ton from Tuesday Morning but they closed. I’ve never looked online for them.
An idea i have, is it possible to color texture paste before using it with the stencil? What would you use?
I’ve colored texture paste before just using acrylic paint.
I’ve just found you so I am seeking more info. What size, kind, style, type name brand, etc. of journal are you using?
Typically I use something with sturdy mixed media pages. I love the Dylusion Journals by Ranger. This was done in a bullet journal I got from Hobby Lobby (not recommended).
New subscriber right here :-)
Yay! Welcome and thank you.
beautiful. is it a master board?
Thank you. No, just a little fun in the art room.
Would you share the stamps you used to color thestamps
I think you are asking about the ink colors I used. I used Adirondack Color Wash sprays by Ranger. Red Pepper, Sunset Orange and Meadow.
What kind of glue are you using?
Kayla, I used Art Glitter Glue. I have shared a link in the description.
@@kristina-rae awesome, thank you!
Love it! Newbie here! 👍🙏🏻🥁 check out Shawn Petite. She’s very inspirational, like you! 🖌📖🎨
Welcome! I love Shawn’s work. She is very talented.

Thanks for your feedback
Your work is fun to watch however the repetitious music drove me crazy.I would not watch again for that reason.
Claudia thanks for the feedback
Thank you for this inspiring project! I am a greeting card maker and typically work small. I have been creating collage papers though in order to begin an art journal. Your doodles looked great at the end!!❤️👍😃
Kathryn you will love art journaling because it can be a paper craft project too.
