Newton Abbot Station is located on the line from Exeter St Davids towards Paignton/Plymouth.
The station is managed by Great Western Railway with services by both GWR and Cross Country Trains calling here
Cross Country services here use a variety of traction including Class 220/221 DMU's and up to 2023 High Speed Trains (Class 43) also, services head towards Plymouth and Paignton with a few services heading all the way down to Penzance, in the other direction services head towards Exeter, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds and into Scotland via Edinburgh.
GWR operate most services here, Local services towards Paignton, Exmouth and Exeter are operated with a mix of Class 150, 158, 165 and Class 166 Diesel Multiple Units, these replacing older Class 143 Pacer buses from mid 2020.
Long distance GWR services operate towards Plymouth, Penzance, Bristol and Cardiff, these services are operated with a mix of Class 158 and Class 800-802 Diesel Electric Multiple Units, these replacing older Class 43 High Speed Train Castle Sets, these operated most of the Penzance to Cardiff Services up until 2023. Class 800-802 are also used on services towards Plymouth, Penzance and London Paddington.
