A bit like people with more than one child, who live in a tiny flat, who have a full time job (or possibly two) and volunteer in the community (free) in their spare time.
It's so good to see these three continue to grow, and enthuse about and appreciate the advantages of the life they have chosen, whilst still taking in their stride all the work needed to maintain it.
You both do an excellent job of editing and putting sounds to the occasion. Taking care of a toddler, the cooking, the shuffling of both narrow boats, canoe and bicycle take an enormous amount of energy. It's for the young and us old codgers like to watch your energy and ability to deal with all life throws at you. Your family should be extremely proud of you. And, you are a beautiful family!
Such a wonderful relaxing vlog. I always get excited when I get the notification. Vic I absolutely love the sound of your voice and your unique way of telling a story is so enjoyable! I wish there was a way you could do long documentaries about the life you, Joanna and William live. It would be so entertaining! Safe travels.
I don't no either and there talking about having another ? The thing is they also have a lot if support from family and there both very clever with the editing . I do think they should sell those 2 boats and get the bigger one. They can run there business from it and live on it. Pretty sure all there family and friends will help. Don't get me wrong this is very cleverly edited. That was there jobs tho ?
I've said this a few times already and I'll say it again. I am dumbfounded as to why this channel isn't over 250K subscribers. It is one of the best and most endearing channels on YT and it beats me why it hasn't grown so much. Hopefully people will start to catch on and then subscribe.
You guys are the epitome of chill (Bill included). How Jo can stay so composed with dog poop all over her hands is beyond me. 💩 Always look forward to a new video and will definitely be buying some lemon drizzle if you're ever down on the Oxford Canal 😄
So lovely to see you both! Twice! And our waistlines thanked us that you had run out of cake. Such a wonderful trading weekend for you with all the gorgeous sunshine ☀️ Hope to catch up with you again soon 😊
It was very sad that I counted the turns of the windlass on the lift bridge that gives you a workout😂 it took 86 turns, my arms were aching. It's a beautiful canal. Love your vlogs ❤️ xxx
I grew up in one of the houses that backs onto the canal just after the goyt mill and waving at passing boats was always such a big part of my childhood. Was lovely to grab a drink and cake from you this weekend may have to pop to Marple early doors to get a vegan slice for my little man this time 😍
There was an otter bounding around the towpath next to Robbie Cummings boat. Someone was near the bow wanting to give it a treat. Robbie came up to the bow end and the otter started feeling trapped and jumped over his (Robbie’s) cratch cover. I am thinking his boat was turned the other way, seeing the cratch cover in my mind’s eye. He (Robbie) didn’t appear as enamored with the otter and I didn’t hear him say anything about it being cute. After being encouraged to leave, the otter went back out and away. Everyone seems to travel in groups, without acknowledging each other, and the Macclesfield has been getting more attention with the thaw. Pretty cool and I can imagine the bunch of you gathering in the local pub to compare notes or laugh at your viewers comments. Or mooring up and rolling over to the house or a hotel until it is time to film again. Yes, I DO believe that you are continuous cruisers and I agree that most hotels are the same but that the lobbies and the attitudes are different. Also typically overpriced and under equipped. I did Airbnb’s for years and after realizing that it plays a SIGNIFICANT role in the housing crisis, I have cut my usage back to guest houses and suites that you don’t routinely see as rental properties. Still thinking very hard about a narrowboat that I can transport from England and Wales to Scotland and down to France then up through Europe. Maybe I will start in Scotland and travel South, though there is no rush and I would move from one to the next when I got tired of a place. Rather than do that, though, I may lounge back and keep thinking while doing nothing. We shall see. Relevance? None. Calculated as interest and participation and points given to this channel? Yup and yup again. And that’s the whole point. Great video, enjoying the spring green and here’s to next week! Cheers m!!!
I’m so glad to see a more experienced boater than me having a ‘what do I do next? Moment’! Very reassuring! Being a sole boater I can get very confused at lift bridges! Wonderful vlog as always and I hope one day our paths will cross!! Xx
Another lovely, relaxing stroll by narrowboat on another English Canal. Beautiful countryside. More moments of grooviness with the three of you; always a pleasure. Stay safe and stay groovy.
Jo, your confidence level while driving the boat and managing bridges is very notably higher than before. I wonder if it's from having managed so much so well on the trip in Europe? It seems so to me and it's wonderful to behold! Lovely vlog, as always. Thanks for the beauty.
Have seen the Peak Forest Canal and Bugsworth Basin before, albeit in much nicer weather. Although I have only seen the UK Canals through the eyes of Vloggers like yourselves, this has to be one of the most picturesque canals on the network that I have seen in my 6 years or so of vicariously living through the vlogs of the Boat-Tubers. And Peak Valley has small trains which are my other love ;) Thank you for taking us through this lovely part of the country and overall thanks for the years you have taken me along your journey. Very much appreciate all of your stories along the way.
Your decision to leave the rat race, and spend life as a real family is inspirational. Little Bill will have such a good grounding, early on in life . Hope life lets you continue your journey and prove to others, life is not just materialistic.
Looked like a very busy time you had but the basin is interesting. Lots of history and good views thanks for the trip stay safe take good care of your selves. William as getting so grown up and is a lucky little boy with great parents. Ed 40 S of Vegas xxx
I just feel that new bear needed a leash of his own to prevent premature relinqueshing of ownership, by William. A bit like when you had gloves on a string that went up your sleeves, round your neck with your unloseable gloves/mittens on the ends. Love you three, William is getting better and better.
You people are living the dream. Doing what many of us dream of doing, but don't ever take the plunge... I'm not sure if I feel jealous watching these videos, but it certainly gives me a bit of motivation to get out there do it.
Welcome to my local canal and area. Nice to see you here. I appreciate that we live in a beautiful area but after seeing it from your boat and your point of view it makes me love it even more. I hope you get time to look around Marple and Marple Bridge with its many parks, the river, shops and cafes. It is lovely. A heron flew over us as we were driving over the bridge at the 3 way junction last week just where you were. So look out for it. xx
All things are comparative, 4mph may seem slow on a 50 odd foot narrow boat, but believe you me, 4mph is pretty fast on a ride on lawnmower. And do not worry about your hair, we laughed when we saw William on waking and saw his hair. May there always be water under your hull, but not in your bilge. The reason the lift bridges are such a good workout is because of the much lower gears ratio to lift all that weight, because although its counter balanced, you are still fighting gravity as well.
Lovely episode and a beautiful part of the Peaks, the Strines and Brookbottom (the Fox Inn used to serve a good pint!) makes for a walk with some stunning views and great history if you get the opportunity ...
Do you ever hear cuckoos and nightingales with the woodlanded areas near the canal paths? I am wistful to play the piano again listening to the little waltz at the end of your vlog... How lovely. Thank you. 🐑🐑🐑
Hi Sweetpea. I live very close to the swing bridge that Jo needed a bit of help with. There is a cuckoo in the woods there, I hear it sometimes on my morning walks. 👍
I posted this on Canals and Rivers Uk (with photos) last week because I couldn't find this page and to date have received 429 lovely comments: 'Paid a truly memorable visit to Holly - The Cafe Boat on the Macclesfield Canal this Easter. P.S. Big thanks to Jo and Vic for making it so good. youtube.com/@HollyTheCafeBoat'
Top job young fella and great to see you back on the boat. The music this week was great. I fully understand William not letting go of that flower. My Mum had a cushion on her sofa that had quite an elaborate silk tassel on and my Son would sit on that sofa for ages holding that tassel. Me thinks it's a touchy feely texture thing kids have. He did it for year too bless his cotton socks. Any Hoo looking forward to next week already. Enjoy !!!
Lovely part of the network !! We just saw our old boat in the vlog narrowboat zandvoort 😊😊 was a marple how nice it’s a small canal world Great vlog as always 🎩
We recently found your Channel and subscribed. Today I have been email corresponding with an old school friend who now lives in Macclesfield - I live some distance away in Tasmania. It was interesting to find you navigating the Macclesfield Canal so I could see some of the scenery in Ben's area. Years ago we travelled the Llangollen Canal and came across raised bridges but we are sure we pulled them up - didn't wind. I suspect ours didn't have a concrete road on them! Your videos are like a breathe of fresh air - especially as you move into Spring wile we descend towards Winter - expecting frosts and snow to 600 meters this week. Stay Safe.
I love watching your vlog, and look forward to seeing it every day. We don’t have any canals here in Australia, and apart from the River Murray there is nowhere else to go boating.
That was a beautiful trip. Thanks for taking us along. However, I would not call that easy with all hat cranking on the lift bridges. That is more of a work out than being at a gym. So happy you had a great week end there at the beginning of this video. Good luck for the rest of the season. I think you're going to have to start tying tying everything to the stroller or to William. He loves to throw things, doesn't he. Have a Blessed day.
It looks extremely nice "Up North" both vibrant and affluent. I am surprised that for the swing bridges that they don't have a landing stage on both sides of the canal for those who are single handed. Your mention of an otter made me wonder if the Canal Trust might introduce some beavers to some stretches of the canal network?

However long your vlogs are I find I don't want them to end! What a beautiful part of the country that was and a brilliant bit of editing with the history info!😊💜
I don't know how you raise a toddler, run a business, live on a narrow boat AND vlog but I'm glad you do. Fab vlog. Thank you.
A bit like people with more than one child, who live in a tiny flat, who have a full time job (or possibly two) and volunteer in the community (free) in their spare time.
Two boats, bikes, canoe etc..😮
It's so good to see these three continue to grow, and enthuse about and appreciate the advantages of the life they have chosen, whilst still taking in their stride all the work needed to maintain it.
A beautiful part of the country and a very historical canal. The piano music went well with the film, perfectly edited as always. 😊

I think that first early morning coffee being handed up whilst you’re moving the boat is one of my favourite parts of narrowboating 😊
Nice to see you back on the boat. Thank you for taking us along with you, the scenery is lovely. See you next week
I love you three: Vic & Jo are so laid back and William, with "Wow", is absolutely charming. Do please keep on making our day.
The NHS should recommend your channel if anyone is stressed , love the gentle nature of it and who doesn’t love cake , thank you 😊
Such a wonderful relaxing vlog. I always get excited when I get the notification. Vic I absolutely love the sound of your voice and your unique way of telling a story is so enjoyable! Good to see the leash on your little guys. Best plan since he “got his legs”. And he’s been walking a good share of Western Europe already.
I really, really love your vlogs. It is like being taken on holidays with lovely people . Thankyou 🤗

The extra bit at the end of the lovely views was a delight!
What a lovely blog thankyou for sharing stay safe 🙏
Yet again the sweetest of life’s moments. Your family is so real and honest and encouraging! Have a grand summer!
What a lovely little film....could've happily watched that for hours....thanks
Love your chilled dialogue, makes me remember the things that are important- and the things that really aren't.
I felt like such a slug at my day job watching this while you were working hard I had to get up and go build a wildlife pond😅
How beautiful it is there. I love your videos and adventures - great to see you back on the water and trading. 😊
I grew up in one of the houses that backs onto the canal just after the goyt mill and waving at passing boats was always such a big part of my childhood. Good to see you folks back on the water!
So good to see you back and moving along. The good weather is going to be a bonus for you with trade xx
Walked along that towpath to the basin, very picturesque views off the Peak District hills. ⛰️
What a lovely video to watch and relax just before bedtime. Thanks for another great one guys.😊
I know I'm late to the party, but just a lovely telling of a day in the life. Thank you!

What a wonderful episode! Jo, you look so young and joyful; it's such a heartwarmer for the channel followers.
Vlog on, you three are marvelous. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video showing real life on our lovley canals. Glad to see you have William under control.
I'm glad you are enjoying it up there as much as I did. Don't forget to walk up to Toddbrook reservoir for a look around. Great vlog. Thanks.
It's a canal you'll always want to go back to, very enjoyable guys :-)
That was really lovely, such a beautiful part of the country and nice to see Spring.
One day I’ll get a Coffee & Cake from Holly I promise! Till then I’ll keep on enjoying your vlogs 👍

I think I like the Peak Forest Canal too! I have seen many vloggers going on it! Thank you for another enjoyable trip!

I do so appreciate that you put your dialogue up on the screen when the sound is obscured for some reason.

Wow William that's a beautiful video. Thanks kids love this video. So glad youns are home. God bless.
Wow that is a beautiful part of the world ❤ Great video (as usual) 🙂
That top section of the Peak Forest canal also provides access to water sources to keep the canal full.

Ohhh Jo the lift bridge revelation 😂🙈
I do agree, the games toddlers find and absolutely love at William's age are super annoying 😂
Lush vlog ❤
Good to see you back in the cannel and looking forward to the Summer I'm looking forward to you adventures on the cannels

Beavers? Don’t they build lodges from trees they fell and dam a waterway? 🤔🤣
Great video...seems like real live show...stay safe
Love your vlogs . Watching from stateside but mancunian. That is my dream trip to retire in a canal boat with hubby

Great to see you back in Blighty.
Already looking forward to your next video.
I wondered how you turned your boat around! Now I know, thanks!
