Mark Sargent recently spoke at another conference, and this was his speech. He claims that flat Earth is about to take over. No, it's not Mark. No, it's not. Let's listen in, shall we...
Enjoy.

Love the channel... detest the cheap, nasty sound of Raycons.
This Nicholas Cage movie ad came on before, and where they have the ad link they had a community note about flat earthers.......I was so excited there was a new Nicholas Cage flat earth film........but it appears to not be true.......😞
AND YET MARK.... The MAJORITY OF THE PLANET. (MOST NOT CONNECTED TO that (supposedly) 'Evil/conspiring' NASA .. STILL ACCEPTS... The Scientific FACTS, REPEATABLE EVIDENCE AND... WHAT WE SEE... The Earth IS INDEED... An oblate SPHEROID, rotating in space, with A REAL Moon, which we BOTH rotate around the Sun (9ish MILLION miles away) and the WHOLE Solar system IS travelling through space going around OUR GALAXY - the Milky Way!
So fella... WHY DO YOU PERSIST in either Theistic or Nonsensical and/or BOTH (NO ACTUAL FACT/EVIDENCE based) theories? There IS NO POINT continuing with this UTTER BUNKUM... 😏

At 3:56 there is actually a frame that has Mark's personal info right after you said you wouldnt include it. Just something I saw.
Missed an opportunity not titling this “Flat Earther thinks they’re taking over the GLOBE”
😂
Nice! Well done. 😊
“Flat earther thinks they are rounding up and taking over the globe”
Bloody ego much?
Thanks. That's definitely a laugh-out-loud observation.
The irony of a Flat Earther saying everybody else is living in ignorance. It's lost on all of them.
It's the old joke of the radio warning about a wrong way driver on the highway and a guy yelling "One? Hundreds!"
Flat Earthers are just too pathetic to live !!!
“We are coming for you and your families”
I can’t think of any other way to sound creepier than that. It’s the only accomplishment he deserves credit for.
It immediately reminded me of _First they came ..._ by Martin Niemöller but as told by the people on the attack. It's sad if that was what he was going for, and unfortunate that my mind immediately went to that poem with his words.
He basically said "You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile."
@@NovaSaber I suppose it was better than "Exterminate. Exterminate!"

I hope that Homeland Security is looking too... they love it when you spread threaths to the US people...
"The masses have been enjoying our content for years." Yes Mark, everyone enjoys a good laugh.
All that and yet Mark Sargent still can’t even produce a verifiable map or model of the world. What a grifter.
The fact that maps, navigation and general reality work with a globe and not with a flat earth doesn't seem to matter to them. "We don't need a model" was quite the rallying cry but only serves to hide that they're evidence basically comes down to I-don't-believe-it. It's both amusing and frustrating that their beliefs are based on doubling down and cherry picking.
I think the old "we're coming for you" is Bible based. He thinks Armageddon is near and all us devil worshippers are gonna be sorry.
none of them can. only thing they agree is that earth is flat, all the rest is different to every flatter, they cant even agree on having a map that works for everyone 😄
And they still use Google Earth/Maps to navigate/measure distances.
I'd still love to hear any kind of explanation on how Australia has long days in summer, when the spotlight sun should just whizz past them even faster than in winter.
@@TheRenofox Well quite a few of them deny Australia even exists. Apparently when you meet Australians we are all just paid actors.
I spent 3 years aboard ship. I sailed halfway around the world. A buddy actually sailed completely around it on an Aircraft Carrier. There ain’t no Flat Earth Navy.
I imagine there's no flat earth air force, artillery division, or snipers for very similar reasons.
I was talking to a 90 year old a few months ago and she remembered mocking her mother in-law in the 60s for believing the earth was flat. They don't realise they've been the butt of many jokes for several generations now and it always ties back to the Bible.
An annual conference means nothing there is a comic and sci-fi convention in virtually every western country, it doesn't prove Spiderman is real.
Religion stams out critical thinking and the bible contains the lies that replace it.
Isn’t it nice to believe you are the special creation of an all-knowing all-powerful being you will spend eternity with. If you don’t think about how long eternity actually IS, that is.
The fact that their logic stems from The Bible, tells you something about The Bible.
Don't you dare tell me that Spiderman isn't real!
@@gqsmooth1969 but which Spiderman, now there's a multiverse?!?
My great grandmother apparently didn't believe the moon landing was real. She was convinced it was done in a movie studio. However, she was born in the 1890's and just couldn't get her head around the idea of going to the moon.
The real question for Mark is why hasn't he left flat earth like he promised after so many people met his argument. He wouldn't even acknowledge MCToon even when people raided his live stream to ask why he was ignoring Michael
That's what grifter con-artists do. Mark has no intention of being honest or sincere.

Love how he declares flat earth “won the social media war” then immediately goes on to show how little footprint they actually have on RUclips and the like 😂
To be fair I do think they probably took over myspace and parts of facebook by now.

You've broken my arm, making me the victor.
Hearing a Flerf talk about critical thinking literally made me laugh out loud.

"Do your own research" is their saying. They should buy a direct flight from South America to Australia and see that it isn't impossible.
@@helmuttrzoska4572 the best part about that point is that when they do their own research, the experiment proves the globe, but they either misinterprete the results or misrepresent them to support their pre-conceived notions.

Like man, ever gone into a date and all you do is talk about university assignment that dues tomorrow on a group work while being left in a group of 9? Lovely night that makes huh?
I've gone to sea... in the age when sextants were used to locate oneself.
We had Loran-A and Loran-C but we always used a sextant, too.
We wanted to keep our skills up in case the electronic aid went down.
We used spherical trigonometry tables to solve the curved triangles of navigation.
It works.. and it would not work on a flat earth
how much do people like you get paid by nasa? not mocking actually interested is it salary or hourly? any benefits? /s
Having done survey work, I wish the Earth was flat. It would make thing so much easier. I can hear all the civil engineers agreeing.
That's the thing isn't it? In the age of sail we knew the Earth was roughly spherical. We didn't have to look down on it from satellites, we didn't have to go to space to see it for ourselves.
But now we have a gang of yahoos who thinks that the fact that they don't feel motion when they are standing still on the ground somehow proves that the earth must be stationary.

University Geology Professor here. I love flat Earth. Students choose various flerf "proofs" and test them against reproduible, scientific measurements. Admittedly, a few students initially think there "might be something to" the ice wall, dome, flat Earth etc. But, once they test their own topic, I have yet to see anyone persist. BTW, this assignment is graded (by students in the class) based solely on their research, testing, and presentation, not on their conclusion. I LOVE flerf!
Have you ever thought about inviting one popular flat earther to your course, so they get the tools they need to test there theory?
@@alexgloomandor3956The problem is the popular flerfs wouldn’t accept the invite, much less accept the results.

Lol the flerfs sharing that poll like crazy and it still only showing as 37% for flat Earth and 63% for globe. In reality I bet less than 10% of people think the Earth is flat.
You know, during my PhD time (4y), I 've written 13 papers where 3 were in high impact journals. Retrospectively, this is by no means that much, but at the time I became depressed once or twice because of them. These sorry excuses of clowns say that they have "proven" and "researched" what they are preaching, yet I can't seem to find any publications. Not even unpublished ones. C'mon give me some papers to read. After all, 1 publication / year should be easy for such great scholars.
Correct. When they say we are nod doing research, this is 100% psychological projection.
I met Mark at their conference in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2019. Didn't really have a conversation but during my presentation against their bullshit, he asked me what I thought about their cold moonlight experiments. My reply, "Absolute nonsense".
I don't recall any further discussion on that.
Didn't know that someone can argue on their conventions against flerfism 🤔
Cold moonlight. I remember that. One experiment included taking temperature readings inside a window. Science at its finest! /end sarcasm font/
Ah yes, Cold Moonlight. At least two arguments go against Cold Moonlight:
1. Repeat the experiment twice in the exact same setup under nearly the same outdoor conditions. Once with a full moon, and once with a new moon. You will see that the temperature measurements will be nearly the same relative to each other. This proofs that at least the moonlight itself is not what is cooling.
2. There are two hypthesis as to what the light o the moon is. Either a reflection from the suns light, or self-illuminating. If you assume the reflected sunlight is strong enough to even have an effect on us, it should be warming things up, like the sun at day. However, the Cold Moonlight experiments show a cooling effect under "direct moonlight". Therefore, it couldn't be reflected light from the sun (all good, it's not like FE believes that anyway). If the moon self-illuminates it might be another type of light that actually takes away energy from its surroundings, which would create a cooling effect. However, the moon is not self-illuminating. If you look at it with even a good camera zoomed in, you can see shadows on craters on its surface. A self-illuminating object does not have shadows on its surface, so it's also not that. Therefore, you have the only two possibilities where the moonlight comes from, and none fit the observations. Which would make you believe that your experiement is just invalid.
@@christophsiebert1213 " If the moon self-illuminates it might be another type of light that actually takes away energy from its surroundings" Give literally one example of light that drains energy.
@@christophsiebert1213 Another example: The lunar filter, which is screwed onto the inside of my telescope's eyepiece becomes notably warm after 30 minutes of lunar observation.
Moonlight is obviously not cooling. 😃
Met a flerf in real life today, he said "there's too many flat earthers now"... Basically confirming the real reason he believes is to feel special knowing a secret.
That's actually really interesting. That they feel special because they think this.
Even if most people think that the Earth is flat, that still doesn’t make it flat. Nothing that Mark said is attempting to discover what the actual shape of the Earth is.
Well when your MO is to ignore proof and cry CGI regarding anything that has to do with space, discovery and proof have nothing to do with it. The shape of the earth has been hypothesized for over 2000 years. Now that we can go there and have a working model of how celestial bodies move, most people have moved on. Mark and anyone else believing in this are only arguing with themselves.
Imagine if the shape of the world was formed by consensus... LOL
Mark is performing the very definition of the word hubris here.
It's actually stunning how utterly arrogant this comes across, the lack of self awareness almost makes this satire
That and his constant references to how they're controlling things, the "hivemind", we're all gonna suffer while they laugh once they've been vindicated, they all just need to wait while someone else pulls the strings for them because they know they can't, all very dystopian authoritarian stuff. It would either revitalize the movement or make them so ridiculous the movement would tear itself apart
Come on, next you want to take his meth and crack too?!!! 😄😁😆😂
Notice his reason for being optimistic about flat earth was not "The physical evidence proves it is true." The whole affair he described has produced exactly 0 pieces of solid physical evidence, despite having gotten far more attention than it deserved. They've had ample opportunity to prove their claims and the reality is, they can't.
Well its a grift. He knows it's bullshit. This video of his is just a manipulation tactic to make easily swayed people think they need to join flat earth to not be socially ostracized.
If he didn't think it was bullshit he'd be hiding in a bunker with a gun pointed at the door waiting for the government to break it down and kill him. And simply to incompetent to pull a leafyishere and wipe them from the internet entirely. Which can happen at literally any time
In fairness to Mark, he never stated that the evidence for Flat Earth was strong, more that the movement that believes in Flat Earth is strong. I'm not sure he proved that either. The biggest Flat Earth youtubers have merely 350k subscribers. Meanwhile a couple of guys watching things blow up in slow motion have 26million subscribers. A scottish guy talking about how shit movies are has 1.8M subscribers. And a guy rebuilding a Cessna has about 690 thousand subscribers. So they're hardly making any impact at all on RUclips's top subscribed channels. Hell even Dan has more subscribers
@@tedferkin Just imagine how many subscribers they would get if one day just one of them presented a flat Earth model that explained seasons, tides, eclipses, planetary transits in front of the Sun, and everything else that is perfectly predictable with the globe model. "We were doing conferences during the pandemic when nobody else was!"
Not really something to brag about. So you got a bunch of people who dont believe the Earth is round and, coincidentally, dont believe a virus is real, to come gather in a small area during a time when everyone else knew it wasnt safe.
Great job! Kudos to you! You're doing terrific!
Regardless of what the flat earth loser does in his spare time… the so called pandemic really wasn’t all it was cracked up to be… sure Covid was a real virus… but it wasn’t nearly as ‘unsafe’ as y’all made it out to be… no more or less unsafe than I feel around flu season, granted I don’t get sick easily… but even my family and friends who get sick every other week were fine… apparently my uncle caught covid… though he never noticed so it’s hard to say.
Fun fact: the high number of deaths & long-term damage amongst antivaxxers was claimed, by flerfs & others, to be proof of a conspiracy against them (and that the deaths were targeted assassinations).
Because cause & effect don't seem to matter to conspiracy nuts.
Considering the way that governments jumped onboard the censorship trains regarding covid (including youtube, facebook, and other social media outlets) just like they did with other political/social narratives I can't say I blame them for this. Covid was awful yeah, but why is it that the solution for a pandemic that is highly adaptive is constantly pushing for repeated shots of a somewhat effective vaccine? Places like Japan of course took it extremely seriously and US citizens should be more hygienic and mindful when sick but the threat has been made worse because of the way they pushed their answer to the problem. The vaccines don't always work, fair enough, but intimidating and censoring people for not blindly supporting what was a rushed and unprecedented response by at least the US government specifically only made more people doubt the threat of it more. Doesn't help that there was the whole political assassination thing regarding Trump going on before and during that as well either. The Russian collusion lie was spread around and multiple persons lied directly to congress about 100% verified evidence of it and it's been shown that they never had any. Flat earthers are laughable but I worked through the pandemic, I lived through seeing the panic, and I know plenty of people who had Co-Vid after getting all the jabs for it. I can't say I blame the Flerfers for adding the unprecedented response from an untrustworthy or at least highly incompetent government as some kind of test to see how much they can control citizens. Both political parties in the US have a history of intentionally twisting history and of collaborating to take platforms away from "independent" and "third party" political opponents so that they are all but forced to run as a republican or democrat so at least as far as the States go I can get why they would still hold meetings in person if the people meeting where in fact healthy just like we all do when influenza spreads around every single year.
Not really all interchangeable. The virus was real, but people take risks on their own accord and decide for themselves what is dangerous to them and what isn't. I decide whether I stand in a room with people or not
@@brandonhill2183 My reply to this got deleted apparently😂 The issue with the virus specifically in the US was how the government so uncharacteristically decided this was the thing to shut down social gatherings and private businesses for when other outbreaks of serious viruses are handled more locally and like you said we are trusted to reason the risks of them. You are considered intelligent enough to decide whether or not you want to meet with other people you know when influenza rolls around despite it countless people throughout history and being highly adaptive and that is perfectly acceptable. But if no one in a group had CoVid or was around anyone who had CoVid it was still forbidden to meet up at church anyway. Didn't help with the way the relatively poorly effective vaccines were pushed en masse and we ended up with more dangerous strains of CoVid as a result from how many did not work for many people. It is a real thing and something to be careful of but I can't blame the flerfies for gathering unless someone can prove the people there knew they were compromised.

Mark is a knowing conman, not a flat earth believer. That's why he's articulate and reasonable but it's also why he puts out videos like this that are nothing but rhetoric and don't really have anything to do with pretending the Earth is flat. He wasn't even insisting that the Earth is flat here, only that "more people are becoming flat Earthers", according to him. That level of distancing is very telling and he does it during interviews and on talk shows, as well.

Mark Sargent's definition of "critical thinking":
1. Reject anything that doesn't comport with his view of reality, especially if it's backed by icky science.
2. For those things that do fit his FLERF view:
2a. presuppose they are all true
2b. try to invent clever-ish talking points to make them seem plausible, at least in his own head
2c. prattle on about them endlessly until he convinces himself that they are true

I remember that the day after that flat Earth documentary aired, everyone at work was talking about it and having a good laugh at the stupidity of it. These are people who had no interest in the subject before that, and pretty much no interest later on. The idea of the Earth being flat is so absurd to them that it’s not worth their time thinking about it.
Out of interest. How would you easily prove that earth is not flat?
Laughing at flat earthers is easy but most people can't say why they know earth is round
@@albertoandrade9807 As long as the flat-earthers can’t prove the earth is flat, no one has to prove it isn’t.
@@albertoandrade9807Probably because all of science has evidence for it and all the phenomena we experience are easily explained on a globe but not a flat earth.
There‘s also loads of pictures of it from space, easy to quickly find one at any given situation in this age.
The evidence is overwhelming, if flerfs want to dismiss the evidence they better come up with some compelling evidence themselves.

By the way, any flat Earther needs to show me the following: -
1. an accurate, definitive "Flat Earth" map or chart,
2. the distance and size of the Sun, and how sunrises and sunsets work,
3. the distance and size of the moon, and how the moon's phases work,
4. how the Earth's magnetic field is generated (and show where the South Magnetic pole is situated),
5. how tides work and why and how the tidal range varies with the phases of the Moon.

@@albertoandrade9807 Rooftop TV satellites. In the N. hemisphere they point south, toward the "ecliptic" which is where the geosynchronous satellites are that transmit the signal. In the S. hemisphere they point north, because the equator is north of them. Guess what? At the equator, the dishes must point straight up in order to get the signal. Key point: If you block the dish with a big old piece of metal, you'll lose the signal. These dishes work in the middle of the ocean as well, so you cannot say that the TV signal comes from cell towers. So, rooftop TV dishes work the same as GPS receivers do with their satellites, except you can physically witness where the satellites are by looking at the rooftop dishes and triangulating the spot they're all pointing at. Look around your town: all dishes are pointing south. Go on google Earth and pick an australian city. The dishes all point north. You can see it yourself.

@@deGooderactually that's not what's going on. I have never searched his name or anything like that, but I did the search and I found the same thing. Actually what happened is a radio station website has an article posted about him, and the headline of the article describes him as "leader of the flat earth movement". That headline contains the words "leader", "of", "the", and "Earth", so Google returns it as seemingly being relevant to the search query.
That's it. It's just an accident. What I want to know is how long he had to search to find that. Or perhaps he knew of the article and knows how Google works so he tried to reverse engineer a search term that would accidentally lead to it?

I noticed on his flat earth map that Australia appears to be about three times as wide from east to west as the distance from north to south. In reality it’s about 4000 kms each way. Having driven from north to south I can confirm that measurement. That should make it about 12,000 kms wide (33% larger than Russia)
