Love seeing these tests. I see a lot of people recommend heavy / slow fighters as part of an anti capital fleet. If they are slow, you are always going to lose a bunch costing 4 to 15 million total. I always pick faster fighters even for my bomber wing (blast mortars, because I’m too lazy for missiles). Balance between shields and speed is essential I think, having extra weapon slots is less essential when you’re tossing 30 of them against a K. I also tend to switch from flying my carrier to a medium corvette and strafe shoot the K or any smaller enemies that are interfering. More fun, I feel like I’m part of the action, and keeps a few more of my fighters alive

Exactly, slow fighters = dead fighters. Some players have these fantasies, of fighters shields being these impenetrable bastions, that can tank and tank... 🤤
For weapon slots, from my tests I've learned that, with BMs, I need at least 3. At one point I've tested a wing of 40 Nodans as my bombers: ruclips.net/video/rSTPEV9KO9k/видео.html, vs a xenon K and I, and lost 16 because insufficient dps.
As for taking part in the action, I'm usually on the bridge of the biggest baddest ship in the fleet. 💪 I'm more of an admiral Adama, that Apollo the Viper pilot (if you are familiar with BSG). 😋

Hey I don't know if you've looked at it yet but the Irukanji scout the boron have is nutty. Maxed out equipment and a forward thrust + hull mass down mod gives it a normal travel velocity of just shy of 1 km/s, and a travel speed of _27,000 m/s_. It only has one weapon slot so it won't kill anything quickly but it's just so goddamn fast it might have a use as an interceptor.

Is there a way to mass mod 100 of these for use in carriers?

@@seePyou you could probably get away with a macro, since you'd be pressing the same few buttons over and over. But no there's no in game way to mod multiple ships at once

I gotta say, I'm liking the boron ships in vanilla. The railguns on M ships have enough alpha damage to one-off small fighters, and most everything they have is anti-shield. I used the ray in particular to fight off two K's and an I with a minimal amount of support. Fairly certain their ion net AoE large turret hits multiple times on the same shield pool if you hit more than one component with the blast. That combined with the ray's main gun makes their destroyer an ideal anti-weapon platform in the hands of a player, especially considering it's ridiculous range and shield regen. I played VRO the same way when I used the beam laser main guns on teladi destroyers combined with VRO's obnoxious heavy flak.
The only sore point is the fighters and their relative lack of offense. They do have a lower shield regen delay than their counterparts though.

Ohh you should see the Ray test I'm uploading atm...most of it was me fighting the xenon I shield regeneration. 😅
I think I'm screwed when I will try to use 10 Rays for station demolition....

@@ragnos28 I wrote that as I was fighting the I smh. That damn shield regeneration was so bad that I bought a destroyer from the terrans mid-fight just to get some fire support. Ended up turning the game off for the night after I saw two more K's come from xenon space.
I think you can still beat an I shield as long as you target the actual shields though.

    It's impressive.
I thought the only weapon against Hydra L-ships was ion atomizer.
On the other hand, ion pulse railguns seem more useful because they are expected to cope with most situations with competence.
    Barrakuda seems pretty vague.
I also think about playing phase gun to other mako squads to finish off the L-ship with the shield peeled off.

What do you think about M tracking turret with thresher? 8 M tracking turret + 1 M torpedos sounds pretty good against capital ship... maybe..?

    • @ragnos28
      @ragnos28  Год назад +1

The problem with M tracking turrets is that they run out of missiles fast. Torpedoes I can manage, 1 launcher, the target are capital ships, but smart missiles from turrets are spill all over the place, including a xenon N can get 20 smart missiles chasing its arse.

I do agree the barracuda really needs a rework but at the very least, even with high preset preset. it’s usually at least half the price or even less then other similarly equipped heavy fighters. Usually ranging from 1-1.5 mil depending on loadout.
