The solo was entirely composed of different bass samples that they remixed and collaged together into a full-on solo. They probably never had any intent of it being playable and just wanted to make an insane sounding bass solo, but leave it to legends like this guy to say "challenge accepted".

well, astonishing. mostly because i guess justice used an ultrasampled bass. great, i don't usually like youtuve covers. yo are great, both acuracy and groove. great.
any clues to sart with a bass? i'm in my 40's and work as an illustrator, 2d animator, cartoonist. But i have the itches for some kind of guitar, probably bass (if a could eaily afford a thunderbird, i'd have at least inthe same wall stack my states/longboards)
argentina (where i live) is on an economic turnoil, a poorly made ukelele (poor people that really standed for it before it became hipstery) is adout my monthly income.
here we have the legacy of spanish guitars, more loose, loudless but colorfullest sound.
i think a middle base inbetween a bas and a guitar.
anyway, cheers to you! i allways loved the d.v.n.o. baseline

i dont really know if you're looking for input from anyone else, but bass is a good instrument to start on! it can be as simple or as hard as you want to make it and still sound good.
I've been playing guitar since I was five and bass since fourth grade, so there's only a couple pointers I can really give you.
1. you won't be as good as other bassists when you start off. it's a fact of life, but don't get discouraged; it adds for more motivation.
2. you're supposed to play bass with your fingers, but you can use your thumb to hit the lowest string which would be closest to your face (E). your thumb can be also used for slap bass.
3. have fun and remember that not every bass will work the same or sound the same.
4. practice!!!!!

Hi, this is a very good cover of the bass line from DVNO. Just wondering is there a preamp built into your bass guitar? I'm just interested to know whether you plugged the bass guitar directly into the Focusrite without anything to make the sound more full. I ask because the sound from your bass is so good and I would like to have the same setup if possible. Any helpful information that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards!
add compression and tweak the EQ til you get the sound, also the focusrite has preamp

Awesome work! Do you have any tips on how to smoothly transition into that double thumb like on 3:28? Whenever I try, the volume is much lower than when slapping, plus i tend to miss the strings on the way back hahah
