Doc talks about different ideas for how to use your cigar bands. If you collect cigars bands, be sure to check out Doc's ideas and share some of your own.
Hey Doc. I like to do the same things you do with your cigar bands. I also scan them and print them out on a sheet of paper. Then I actually put a rating of 1-5 on each band on the copy. It helps me remember which cigar was the most pleasant for me and which were not to my taste. It also gives the newer, more unexperienced smokers a guide that I show to my friends and family. I don't show them the results until I survey people who have smoked them because it's my taste so I just put the average.
Some great ideas there Doc, Ive been collecting all my bands not really knowing why, I guess I wanted to keep track on how many Ive smoked over the years. I think I'll use your first idea and frame them. also framing my tubos that I collect would look nice as well.
Doc, I started taking assorted size wooden dowels (wal-mart, or any hardware store) and use my sander to shape the dowel into the shape and size of the cigar that I smoked. I then find the right colored stains to match, reattach the band and display. It's kind of a cigar taxidermy trophy wall. I'm still perfecting the stains and shapes, but overall, they look pretty cool.
great idea! i just have bags full of bands...and empty scotch bottles i like to keep. time to put them together as a nice display. haha, don't believe i never thought of it before. thanks!
I only keep bands of memorable smokes. Like maybe if I smoke a cigar for the first time, I'll write the date on the back and store it in a box. Or if I smoke with a buddy, I'll have him or her put their initials on the back of their band and add it to the box. I have a few hundred so far.
Man, that's pretty cool. I have a friend who makes cigars like that out of plaster. They are pretty cool and he makes them in the same size, shape and color, like yours, and also puts a little texture into the wrapper and foot. Then he slaps the bands on. Nice work Jimmy!
Ive seen some really cool ideas on some forums threw out the years. One guy put bands on a poker table. All along the sides where people rest there arms. Another idea I've seen, "which I'm gonna to do to." Is use a normal wooded table and fill it with bands all over the top. I have a little coffee table in my cigar lounge that I'm going to use. Hey Doc do you know if opus X has a very large cigar band of some sort? I would love to put one as my center piece.
I usually only save a band if I don't already have one in my collection. I usually smoke a Padron 3000 Natural every time I pay a visit to my local tobacconist, so I don't save every single band.
I made a desktop humidor a while back and decorated it with pasted on cigar bands...looks pretty cool.
The photo album is a good idea.
I'm not really into collecting the bands, but I do have ever Tubos Case that I've ever bought.
That's fantastic Doc. I may have to upgrade from the spiral notebook.

I made a 3x3 table top collage of bands for my local cigar shop. We covered it in glass & it looks great!
