    I follow a flight attendant's YT channel. She had mentioned that sometimes passengers will sometimes gift them snacks. On my international flight last October, I gave the flight attendants a big bag of Halloween candy. When I was getting off the plane, they gifted me with a huge bag of airline snacks. I loved it because I had enough snacks for two weeks while I traveled Europe.

    I had a nice conversation with a flight attendant while stretching, showing interest in her job and also speaking about the war and how horrible it is. Shortly after she brought me a pack of goodies from the business class which included nice hand cream, face mist, chapstick, sanitising wipes, and a bunch of other cool stuff plus the leather like pouch. Such a nice gesture! Now everytime i use or look at those items i remember her, yhe conversation and that long flight that was made nicer with people like her :)

    I bought my compression socks because of another video of yours. Wore them on recent trips to Hawaii and Asia. Loved them. And for what it's worth, the airport in Ho Chi Minh City has free showers. I took a redeye flight home after having spent the day checked out of my hotel and running around in 95 degree heat. It made a world of difference being able to take a shower before my 22 hour travel day.

    I brought a box of a local candy( local to my area- I had to fly to NYC to get the 11hours flight) for my flight attendants on an 11 hour flight. They were so appreciative. I did it just to be nice. They did ask if I wanted any special drinks or snacks but I declined. I didn’t do it for special favors. But my companion and I were always served first and many of the attendants came to me during the flight to thank me. With all the travel rage these days even a smile and genuine hello goes a long way.

      @user-rd1ph1bm2m Месяц назад +1

      So you make your way through bribery. Many people who cannot afford gifts to the crew have also paid for the ticket. You are depriving him of good service by giving gifts. It's American culture to pay and receive bribes. But crew of airlines like that of Japan are honest and treat every passenger equal even the sulky and gloomy ones.

    • @spark_6710
      @spark_6710 Месяц назад +2

      @user-rd1ph1bm2m It's totally different from bribery ! It's a token of thanks ! But,sometimes It can be taken as bribery like you feel. So ,gifting to a cop ,or a doctor or even tipping an employ of a supermarket are prohibited 🚫 here in the States ,depends on the shop or organizations as well as the cities & states.Sometimes ,individuals refuses ,even if it's not illegal or not prohibited. Btw.,I'm Japanese who lives in the States.💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

    • @annualtravellers
      @annualtravellers Месяц назад

      @user-rd1ph1bm2m I don't understand you thinking how can it be bribery? When I give a gift, it is purely as a token of thanks and to let them know I appreciate all the hard work. I ask for NOTHING in return. That is NOT the definition of bribery. You must have been confused by what i put in my comment 🤔

    I always greet flight attendants with a smile. When I walk around the plane and see them I thank them for their kindness. Sometimes they also struggle putting someone’s bag in the overhead so I just stand up and offer help. I avoid being a nuisance.
    This video content helps out a lot! I’ve been doing more traveling these years and I’d like to always be prepared. I have a 20-hr flight in less than a month so I’m definitely taking notes. Thank you for putting a list together.

    For each flight, I buy pretty, 4”x6” organza drawstring bags, and create individual gift bags for each flight attendant.
    Months before the flight, I look for inexpensive items (multi-packs save money) to add to each bag - lip gloss or chapstick, individually wrapped clean cloths for face or body, decorative pens, a piece of chocolate, etc. Random items that are fun but also useful (forget the nail files!). Tip from a flight attendant: Include a $2. bill - they will be ecstatic, because they need it for their van ride from airport to their hotel!m, and will be impressed you know they need this.
    So much fun - these flight attendants are like little kids on Christmas ~ you thinking of them, but also their excitement at discovering what you put in their bag. This idea will transform their day, and transform your entire trip when you see how moved and grateful they are.

    Great tips. I deliberately booked the window on all of my 4 flights from Australia to UK and return via Singapore. I am a poor sleeper when travelling and as I suffer Restless Legs Syndrome and take medication which knocks me out I want to stay that way rather than be wide eyed all the way. Noise cancelling headphones and some needlework are also part of my plan. I have decided that whenever, if I'm awake, any of my fellow passengers next to me get up, I will too, so saving disturbing them later. I also will have a small spray water bottle with me to fill up past security to spritz my face during the flights. Compression stockings are a must and I will change my shoes when through security. There are so many things to think of to make these long flights comfy so your video is more than welcome. Thank you.

    Since you mentioned our little friend, I have a fun story: we were traveling to see the in-laws but my monthly had just hit the day before. I packed along my ‘emergency kit’ of maxis, tampons and liners, all in a cute little zippered pouch. The male TSA agent flagged my bag as we were going through security for a bag check. He kept giving me the side eye as he searched my carry-on. Suddenly, a sly smile spread across his face. I was bewildered as he gave me the “I have you now, thought you were gonna get away with it, huh” look as he pulled out my pouch. Realizing what he thought he had found vs what it ACTUALLY was, a huge grin appeared on my face as I settled in for the show while he slowly unzipped my pouch and started pawing through it. His face went five shades of red as he realized what he had his fingers on, since, of course, he just so happened to be the macho man on a power trip who gets grossed out by (clean) feminine hygiene products. Throughly emasculated through his own doing, he zipped it back up, replaced it in my bag, slid the bag back to me and sheepishly slinked back to the counter, while I, grabbed my bag and laughed my way to the gate. Many years later, I still get a chuckle from him trying to bust ‘contraband’ maxis and tampons.

    Another good thing about ginger ale is that it has no caffeine, so you do not get the jitters while having to sit still for hours.
    Also, I love ginger ale so have been doing this on flights for a couple decades now.

    I also use a disposable plastic bag or paper to put in my personal bag before I slide it in the chair in front of me. That space there is gross as well. That way the bottom of my bag remains clean . I also bring the sanitizing wipes when I use the toilet and would sanitize the areas I’m touching. A lot of people doesn’t wash hands properly or at times skip washing hands after using the toilet. Gross !

    I recently took a coast-to-coast round trip and bought a merino gaiter to take along. What I found was that I could fold the thin cloth of the gaiter to make the gaiter tube 1/4 of its length, then pull it over my eyes. It made a great low-pressure sleep mask that worked perfectly to keep light out of my eyes regardless of time of day. Bright sunlight or monitor light or overhead light, it worked great to allow me to sleep (and I'm light-sensitive). I highly recommend getting a merino wool gaiter. And the best part is you can wear it like a necklace or a cap when awake or fold it tiny and pocket it easily; it takes up almost no space, whereas the sleep mask you suggest is quite a bit bulky.

    I have not watched many of your videos thus far (just discovered your channel) - I LOVE this one. (former OT here, now a family physician, hooray for PT!) I love all the physiologic tips, shall we say, and completely agree with compression socks (although I wear compression sleeves instead).
    I might disagree with the advice for cotton underwear, because cotton traps moisture and stays wet when you sweat, making you more susceptible to fungal infections in the skin fold and chronically "moist" areas. Instead, I'd recommend a microfiber underwear (especially the "period" ones with neoprene), which are so comfortable, dry quickly, and make using a pantiliner unnecessary. If you're more comfortable in cotton, great, but if you are susceptible to yeast infections on the skin, you might want to consider microfiber underwear.
    Thanks for all the great tips! :)

    You have some great tips on here! I have sciatica really bad and love your ideas for the back and stretches you referred to as well as the other tips on here that are not always thought of! Thank you! Traveling to England for the first time ever and would love if someone can recommend a CONVERTER for the curling iron/hair dryer/lap top situation. Not the adapter, but the converter that will convert 220 to 110v and not just adapt the posts to fit the wall socket. Most of the ones recommended so far get horrible reviews on Amazon for frying their electronics which leads me to believe they were never actually tested by the vlogger but more of a "link" for the vlogger to post.

  • @breensprout
    @breensprout Месяц назад +1

    i don't know if this is true of all international flights, but i fly korean air a lot (my in-laws live in busan) and oh boy do they give you a lot of stuff! headphones, pillow, blanket, slippers, toothbrush, water bottle, it's so much and there's nowhere to put it, especially not in economy. so what i would suggest is, if you're just carrying on one bag and it would normally go under the seat in front of you (like a backpack), try to put that up in the overhead, and then have a separate empty plastic bag or reusable shopping bag with you, throw all the goodies they give you into that bag, and then put **that** bag under the seat. gives you a place to store all the stuff quickly without compromising on leg room for the most part!

    Thanks for this very helpful video. I have now subscribed to your channel. I find it stressful getting a space in the overhead, people seem to get really cranky if they use up more than their allotted space & you ask them to give you some room. I now just check a bag & take a backpack only on the plane that fits under the seat in front. I agree with your advice re freshening up & panty liners are very usedful. Like you, I'd rather spend money on my actual holuday rather than a flight. I try to get comfortable, don't really expect to sleep but if I doze off it's a bonus. Best wishes from Sydney Australia
