I've had both, scolded for not asking permission and scolded for asking if they want to kiss.
Yep. You can never guarantee any result. Being direct is still the best way for self-esteem, confidence and character building etc
I like, when asked for a kiss. I've had dates ruined by a random kiss- that makes a man look very immature and/or desperately horny to me xD. When a guy asked me for a kiss the 1st time (like "I feel like kissing you, do you feel like it, too?"). That was real confidence to me- being strong enough to deal with a potential "no", respecting boundaries. In the end we are all mixed femine/masculine. I guess trying to be extra masculine or femine won't be very authentic. I also feel, as people become more mature they tend to look more for people with both 'energies'/traits. I agree, that polarity is helpful to build that sexual attraction, but to me it doesn't mean always the same person portrays one energy. To me that would be a very boring relationship- but other people might like it.
In general I agree with his "nice guy" advice (also applies to women). What helped me getting rid of 'nice girl' syndrome, was to always check back on what I think about a persons behaviour. Instead of thinking- f.e. 'Oh no he is looking at me that way, how can I make him like me again?' - checking back ' He is looking at me in a disrespectful way. I don't like that. If he wants to be on good terms with me he/she needs to have a good explanation for that behaviour.'
